Super slow, flashback/recap episode that is breaking the already pretty slow pacing of the show. If the next 2 episodes are not normal/fast-paced bangers I will be thoroughly disappointed.

The recap portion was half of the episode so I really disliked that part. I found myself thinking that this episode really dragged on to build up the next episode. Unfortunately, they didn't really do the build up correctly and had me falling asleep by the time new stuff happened. After that, it only went up to everyone walking up to their stations right before battle which was another big fuck you to the people who wait each week for an episode. Guess I'll be seeing you guys in another week...

Really have to agree, 7 days of waiting and being hyped for nothing 😓

I think this is the first time that I hear an Isekai protagonist tell his story of reincarnation to the people he's involved with. I could be wrong though.

A lot of talk and buildup for the battle next week. Overall it was an okay episode!

The end gave me chills of excitement with the look on his face, and his words of the humans not deserving forgiveness and using them as food.

Also, the way Benimaru was just walked up to the human camp not caring about stealth was funny to me, and it was a way to flex how powerful he is.

Its been so long that i actually forgot that Rimuru was also a reincarn as well. Still the flashbacks show well just how much Rimuru loves all of his friends and see's them as one big family. The spontaneous act of taking responsibility though sure was funny. Given the pain that they suffered the time for payback is sure to bring everyone's spirits back up. Gabiru and his chums are as close as ever huh. Have to give him credit for that speech and his formation as they set out. Looking forward to seeing the payback for our losses next week. Overall a balanced ep that combined excellent flashbacks that served well to connect Rimuru with each of his friends and allies with tension and a sense of anticipation as they launch their counterattack against the damm scum of Falmuth.

BAD:
- Fillers (retelling the dragon story and YET ANOTHER recap). Could've adapted more dialog lines from source material if they wanted to drag the episode.

- Dead bodies decomposition not taken into account (should've put them in magic ice or something)

- Tone is still too light considering that many of them died and Rimuru is going for mass genocide

GOOD:
- Good episode for future world building and politics plans

- Tempest citizens expected to become more independent from Rimuru's power after this

I'm wondering what is Rimuru's true plan. Surely consuming 20,000 human will let him evolved to "True Demon Lord" but since Clayman also aim at that too, there might be a twist to the plan. And why there's "True" in the first place, there's another type of Demon Lord?

the difference is anybody can proclaim themselves as a demon lord if
A) your recognized by the demon lord counsel
B) strong enough to back up your claim

a true demon lord is a person who has gone through the harvest festival and is recognized by the voice of the world

Man I hope they do "That scene" justice next episode. I get they needed to conserve the budget for this episode by making it a recap, but it just makes me want to get to the next episode more. If I were to rewatch this season, I'd probably skip this episode.

It definitely was Rimiru's fault that's why the rules changed since it got his people killed. I think he needed the harsh reality of the world he lives in.

They really spent all episode in that room?!?!? They milked the shit out of that.

its not a spoiler

The 'Voice' of the 'World' is simply that, its voice

think of like when a video game tells you acquired a skill

Anybody can hear the Voice of the World. Commonly, the only times when it communicates with beings is when:

A skill is acquired
Someone undergoes an evolution

An episode that just screamed “We are wasting your time so we don’t have to put the fights in this episode”. Flashbacks, spaced out dialogue, reused shots, meaningless conversations galore. Only about 5 minutes of this entire episode was necessary. It has been abundantly clear that they have been dragging this season out to have a 2-parter later in the year.

Yeah but I don't remember such stuff being explained in the anime. Is that your personal theory based on what you've seen in other shows or games?

This episode was simply a big build up to the counterattack Rimuru is planning that'll happen in the next episode.

On that point, I guess I can understand why people would be miffed as to why the first 5 minutes were a recap, but assuming that it was done so that the episode ended just before Rimuru got ready to start the attack does make more sense on a narrative point of view. Having it end in the middle of the attack could work, but at the same time, could feel a bit too weird in terms of pacing.

That's why I can forgive the "better to be safe than sorry" approach that this episode took, although that hasn't stopped a few people here showing their dislike with the same generic responses of criticism as usual. Some are painful to read, even when scrolling down quickly. =/

It was nice that Rimuru has great friends to rely on after he told them of his origins and how he feels solely responsible for the casualties of the attack on Tempest. I'm expecting some solid action in the next episode, a one-sided thrashing at that, too! XD

This was basically a calm before the storm before the real action kicks off. Rimuru and his friends have devised a counter attack against the allied human forces, but will it work? Will Rimuru will be able to fulfill the needs to become Demon King?

I guess we'll find out next week.

If someone told me that Rimuru’s subordinates’ battle against Falmuth has not started at all this episode, I would not have believed them. I’m very surprised that they managed to fit less than 40 pages of manga in 1 episode. At least they added some content that wasn’t in the manga, so that was cool.

And also glad to see rimuru revealing his past life to his companions or more precisely to his family

This episode gave me blueballs. Rimuru was all ready to massacre the humans last episode, and they JUST FUCKING HAVE TO DO A SHIT RECAP EPISODE. They recapped the ENTIRE SHOW for 3/4 the episode and then did buildup for the ensuing battle.

This episode was fucking dogshit. I could've skipped this episode, watched 10, and would've been none the wiser. There was literally no reason to recap the entire show for fucks sake. WHY ON EPISODE 9 OF SEASON 2 WOULD YOU DO THAT?

I literally got heart palpitations from how terrible this episode was. I feel like they ran out of material to finish the show and slapped this fucking bullshit into the middle for no good reason.

This episode was a striptease where the girl puts on clothes instead of taking them off. There's more filler in this episode than my god damn cavity. They successfully built up all the hype they fucking needed last episode, so WHY DID THEY DO THIS. WHY GOD PLEASE. this is like a porn where all the closeups are perfectly framed on the guy's cock.

Yeah, I was less than thrilled about that too. It they hadn't skipped so much in the previous episodes they wouldn't have needed to do a recap, but I kind of understand why too. Japan animation studios are probably super happy when this happens because it means they can finally rest a little. At least we know the next couple of episodes are going to be amazing.

too much time spent on recaps, probably gonna be not enough time spent on the fights coming up, sigh.

there's people that are really strong that can claim to be demon lords, and can be recognized as one by the other demon lords, but a "true" (real) demon lord is actually something you evolve into. similar to when Rimuru names monsters. this isn't common knowledge in the world of the story though, else there'd probably be a lot more people trying to become true demon lords.

10 episodes of talking/yelling 11th episode has 30 secs of fight rest of it more talking about why bad guy failed.

Episode was more on the boring side, basically being half recap episode of season 1 and half extremely obvious preparations, feel a little let down tbh. Build up episodes usually are more engaging that this, but this just reminded me of overlord lol. It does definitely hype up the fight episode that's hopefully next, but I honestly can't say the execution was the best

You can put it this way: they can now dedicated all of the really "juicy parts" int the next episode and not make any "cuts" or "squeezes".

Or you can see it like One Piece's level of pacing; they build so we can be truly satisfied when the actions take place.
