That ending, from the point Arte finally returns to Florence, was an anime original, but I loved it! For a sec there, I thought it was gonna become a fan service thing with Arte taking care of Leo and his fever (I started screaming) 😂 ...so I wouldn't have minded that tbh, but I think this ending with Arte's mom recognizing her hard work and talent would be much nicer anyway. 😊 Happy for Arte! Hope the mom does the same in the manga! Can't believe she worked so hard right after her long journey home, though. 😵 Much respect! And cough, look at that ever so stoic Leo 🤣 (You know you're real happy that she's back!) SEASON 2, PLEASE!! 😭💕

Show got better as it went on at least. I enjoyed Arte's stay in Venice. She grew as a person and character. Otherwise, the show wasn't anything incredible.

She drew the people she loved yeah, but we can all appreciate how Leo literally drew himself in the ceiling berofe Arte even intervened? lol

You're missing the whole other part where she worked her ass to get in the position of being chosen to go to Venice, and loved by so many people for what she is.

the stuff with Katarina ended better than expected, they didnt cry or anything and they can always trade cards or visit

coolto see Arte adding her own touches to the paint, with her friends and family

rip Arte falling downstairs in the end LOOL

anyway, great anime, easily my top 3 of the season, with Arte being one of my favorite girls, on pair with Bakarina and Pecorine <3
easily 9/10, maybe even a 10 later... please season 2

Those people were already in the sketches Leo did. You can see this when Ubertino shows the unfinished ceiling mural to Arte. I know she said that's she did them, but clearly she didn't. Probably some sort of miscommunication or oversight on the studio's part

i was gonna say, Arte could have slightly changed the faces, but you're right, at least Katarina and the prostitute were already there lol ya probably a fail, i'm sure Arte changed them at least a bit, otherwise there was no point in what she said

it was mediocre nice!
Arte went back and good thing Katarina didn't cry because she doesn't want to get too attached!
it was nice also that everyone helped finish the ceiling painting!

Not a bad series. The season was reasonably well-paced, and explored a few nuanced themes aptly placed throughout.

Especially where she incorporated the paintings with people who she met and had experiences on this journey, it was really touching.

This was a slow burner for me, really needed to watch more and more so that i could get invested on it, and fortunately, yeah, i was able to.

I thought this show was quite interesting overall. 16th century, Italy as its setting, in the times where men were dominated the world of work. And even so, Arte, she had a dream of becoming an artist, she was stomped on by many people in the process, and yet, she still followed her own path at her own pace, i really admired that.

There is just one thing i don't understand xd. The romance tag. This felt more like a story of a girl pursuing her dreams than a romance tbh, even though it's implied Arte has feelings for Leo. I just wished they could've developed that more.

7/10, really solid historical/slice of life show

I feel sad for Katarina but people will come and go :(

I like this anime but there's scene that feels rushed.. even this final episode feel rushed to me. I expect more emotional "meeting again" with Leo and Arte haha but it's still good, I like it.
I can't wait for season 2 :)

**they still didn't introduce Darcia well :(

Nice end to the season. That painting with all those known faces. xD

Overall, great show. I liked the theme and watching Arte work hard to prove everyone wrong never failed to put a smile on my face. Will there be a second season? I'll consider picking up the manga at some point I guess.

Pretty good for a feminist historical show. I was expecting another shit like “all the men are assholes” or MC turning into Mary Sue, but to my surprise the anime turned out to be pretty sweet and sincere. The only thing that spoiled the impression somewhat was the overly “modern” personality of Arte. Not because it was in a way bad, just her joshikosei traits and stereotypical shoujo MC personality quite distracted me from the Renaissance settings.

8 from 10.

A very formulaic conclusion like the whole series. Although the series is very engaged to interesting themes such as feminism or class struggle, the writing lacks refinement, everything is so discreetly obvious that it is very easy to guess the events.

I believe that the information about Leo's sickness is relatively unjustified. It seemed forced to push Arte to finish the job and show a pseudo solidarity to make us understand that the previous episodes weren't useless. I was not really moved by that teamwork, but it was satisfying.
However the first part of the episode was better. The separation between Katarina and Arte really pleased me. No tears, no screams, only a promise for a lasting friendship. Mattei is probably the best guy in this series and I really enjoyed his discussion with Arte in front of the fireplace. It was calm, deep and very sincere.

Overall, I enjoyed Venezia's arc more than the beginning. I suppose it was the most captivating challenge to follow compared to all the sexist clashes.
"Hello, I would like to draw...
"You're woman !!!"
And repeat this pattern...
I am a huge supporter of women's rights, but the staging and dialogues of this anime were just not natural. I get the impression that the author vaguely heard about sexism in the 16th century but didn't take a deep interest in women's status. Thanks God, we had characters (with Leo ofc) like Mattei at the end of the series to make us understand that not all men want to despise independent women.
(I won't mention Angelo because this character is useless, just 'the' random ikemen from shoujo manga.)

Even if I don't think I will read the manga, I hope that Arte will continue her career and become a recognized artist.

Having read the manga, and that I don't like to compare the anime with the manga, I'm still surprised by the second part of the episode. The fact that the anime takes "freedom" from the manga didn't bother me any more than that. I find even successful!

Quite the progress Arte has made from a noble girl possessing basic painting skills with only Leo supporting her to an actual painter (apprentice) with lots of support and friends who are willing to help her. For my personal taste a bit too slowpaced at times but still quite the enjoyable series

That ending was a little too cheesy for my taste when everyone came together to just help her out of nowhere like she was the towns hero. For a show that heavily relied on sexism to push things forward, they went too soft in the end and made it feel inconsistent. Other than that, I burst out laughing when she revealed she painted all her friends in the clouds with angels.

Overall, was a good watch. Katarina arc was the strongest one and most enjoyable to watch. Others felt too forced and repetitive.

Yeah as expected they didnt get together. Not even close actually lol.

But man Leo was done dirty this episode lol. Has a fever for days that we dont even see just so Arte could take his work from him. I get its to show how she's improved but it seemed a bit forced. But whatever. Seeing them all come in with the full cast was so cliche I couldnt help but smile. Like all of them coming to help to finish this project is such a cliche way of ending the series XD. Especially since the problem came at the very last second and was resolved immedietly.

I finished these last 4 episodes much much later since I was watching the anime as it aired and I didnt expect Arte to be in the other place for the rest of the series. Kind of sucks. Leo just kind of became non-existant after Arte left which sucks. I know her name is the name of the show but Leo is a MC too so to see him disappear for half the series was a blow for me.

But yeah they saw each other for like 2 minutes of screentime. That put a damper on my excitement for this last episode. I thought the end episode would just be them working in the workshop together.

Overall my score has dropped from a 9/10 to a 8/10 cause the romance part was sidelined which was my favourite part of the series. Still a good series.

I think this series definitely needs a season 2 if possible. It feels very incomplete for me. Probably just cause the romance was halted. It was going well until she went to (Insert name here cause I cant remember it) and even when she came back nothing really happened between them.

Side characters were dreadfully soulless, they were really irritating. Arte was their victim, and it was certainly nice to see her cope against them. The ending was sweet and happy; that's cool!

And so Arte returned to Florence and Leo just in time to help finish the Easter mural. Sexism: the anime has ended. I kid, I kid, but often it felt like that, especially in the first half. Arte's journey was well told, but I do wonder if this was a complete adaptation. If it was I'm honestly a bit disappointed Arte and Leo never got together romantically. It felt like we were headed in that direction, albeit slowly, but got derailed by her trip to Venice. I get that the story is first and foremost Arte's and that a romance might undermine her independence, but eh, it's still what I wanted. Not that I'll penalize the series for not getting it. This was definitely a solid 7/10.

It was a good ending, But I do feel 12 episodes is short, probably too short when there is so much that could be covered on the subject.

But for the 12 episodes I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I hope there will be a second season.

Also watching this has made me have a desire to replay assassins creed 2....... lol.

I'll just leave a comment here for people who want to continue onto the Manga.

=====

You should read Chapter 9 Darcia's part of her story since her arc was skipped in the anime adaptation.

The anime left off at Chapter 37. But you should read from chapter 36 for a bit of context.
Plus, you don't get to see Sofia's painting being hung onto the wall in the anime.

Do keep in mind that the second half of the last anime episode is original, not from the manga.

This anime is a perfect example of why the ending is paramount. Even with the shoddy first arc, this anime progressively got better as it went along and ended on a fantastic note. Turned from a generic shoujo to a real diamond in the rough.

Too bad Arte doesn't have a fast travel station so she can visit Katarina at any time.

Obligatory AC reference aside, Arte's decision to leave was probably better for Katarina. It makes her want to grow & expand her horizons to see Arte again. The return to Florence made for a nice finale and especially heartwarming to see how Arte has made up with her mother after all of this time. Everyone coming together to paint the fresco was also a nice way to show how Arte's hard work has paid off both in being recognized as well as supported.

Wait a second...a girl that can actually breathe??? How is that possible??? I thought they just like married men and paid dowries.

Alright alright, I know it's low hanging fruit at this point. Despite how thick it laid that on at times, I still quite enjoyed the messages. While the whole "You're a girl!" thing could be really cartoonish at times, this series did still possess a surprising amount of nuance in its approach to both the livelihoods & societal roles of this cast. I also really liked Arte's attitude and how she would constantly adjust her worldview. She possesses a great sense of determination, purpose & humility. Accepting herself a young noblewoman was a crucial part of that, as she's no longer just reacting to nay-sayers or trying to prove herself to spite the critics. I would say my favorite part was her time spent in Venice, as her connection to Katarina helped her view her own situation from an outside lens.

7/10. Now this has me in the mood to hop on ACII and wander Florence & Venice. A real shame Arte's paintings won't be on display, but I can still dream.

I think it was an very satisfying ending, from my point of view. A bit predictable, in the last two episodes, as I guessed that Arte would return to home, Florence, to see again Leo and all the people there.
I know it's not like in the manga - and I'm planning to read it from the beginning - but nevertheless, it was a very interesting and heartwarming anime. I also loved the OST, the opening and ending. The backgrounds of the cities of Florence and Venice were amazing and it captured very well the Renaissance Era.
I give it an 8/10 overall. If there's a second season in the future, I will see it, for sure.
