This is like dbz kai. I know a lot this is quite popular in china hk taiwan bridging gap beteen japan and chinese culture despite history with the local dubbing. Anyway, if this is 2 cour 24-26 episodes then i could see leon and boat tournaments be finished in first half and next half is new content.

Simple animation/no more seizure
No more prolong reactions eating up the run time. Very simple reactions, no more replaying chinese fairy dancing music over and over again.
Less shiro ecchi groping behavior fan service like 90s or Soma like.
Fei seems to be following the Manga recurring element more and good rival.

Con
Too much foreshadowing/spoiler out of context flashback recap
Condense and shorten comedy and light heart ecchi for some people state of taste
No more drama tension. its gone, they removed The epic music, slow filler like exaggerated reaction(good or bad give or take 2ct)
Opening and ending aren't on par with 90s singers
Shell seems too nice here.

Well, the original skipped a lot of early arc like tomato filler western fry rice. I thought the Manga ended with the defeat of main antagonist organization follow by another flashback comedic epilogue chapter. It's like peach girl next, unnecessary reprinting and sequel to finished Manga that's some cash grab if its reselling repackage retelling same stories with minor updates.all the retcon, reboot, prequel, sequel, rehash of golden works. Maybe they'll do flame of recca too since they never finish this underrated anime. It's like a edgy copy of whats yuyuhakusho did with db. Would rather a inuyasha final act for chuuka and recca, but I guess with twenty years a condense recap is necessary, but so far 4 episodes without soul.

Shokugeki no Soma's author said that Chuuka Ichiban was one of the inspirations for his manga in the first place so it makes sense that it basically polished the idea further.

Hey sometime old script works and sometimes it's cheesy and repetitive , but unlike soma fan service exaggerate reliance, this is more or less the original date earlier than yakitate Japan, but I guess one benefit with pop culture references like gar gintama one punch man while other is soft core hentai for the general kids. This is actually a serious dramatic story and shows growth, brotherhood, and romance instead of typical cop out one sided shonen boy oblivious of gal feeling as the centerpiece. Those soma x erina shippers are so disappointed and the Manga took a nose dive changing and rushing to end like Kenichi after stagnant for a while.

lol, this first episode is a remake of episode 20 of the original Chuuka Ichiban anime. I was expecting this to be a direct sequel to the original Chuuka Ichiban, but it's not. And it's only 12 episodes, so I'm guessing the rest of the episodes are a remake of what the original anime already adapted. I like remakes so I'm not too bothered by this, but you seriously have to watch the first 19 episodes of the original anime before watching this.

Doesn't seem like a complete remake where this season starts from sometime after the super chef exam and not the start. So in this version Fei makes a cameo but Zhou yu doesn't appear at the grave scene, interesting.
