Funny, cos I'm not being edgy for replies: I'm simply stating my opinion. Even if she is the emotional crutch, Yuki is a potential compromise for their safety. If that discussion they had at the start of the episode is any indication, they can see that as well, but obviously they don't want to kill her or leave her to die, which is understandable, but they're in a zombie apocalypse. They don't have the luxury of sentimentality if they want to survive.

You know what? You're right. I'm not sure why a group of high school girls who were close friends before the apocalypse haven't given themselves over to heartless pragmatism. I literally cannot think of a single reason.

Did you not read the part of my post where I said it's understandable that they don't want to kill her or leave her to die? I thought my point was clear but evidently not. When saying they should kill her, I'm not saying that I expect them to (cos I know and understand that they won't), I'm merely saying that I think that's what they should do to help their survival. Of course, you are correct: they aren't just going to give over to pragmatism so easily when they were such close friends before.

First time in a long long time I couldn't wait till the series end and watch it all at once. I was actually thinking of the upcoming second episode all the week and all the evening I've been checking the internet for it. I didn't even wait for subs (to be honest it doesn't need them that much, most is understandable with the basic Japanese you naturally get from watching a lot of anime). First time in a long time I'm so excited about an anime. Though half of it was worriing if they will ruin the manga's story (with Miki present and the dog too).

Now, what can I say about the episode itself.
The opening with a bit of zombies added here and there was hillarions in a good way. I wonder if they'll change it bit by bit every episode adding more zombies (parallel to how the story gets darker) until it's all about zombies. That would be cool.
The story was adapted alright, though I'm still confused about Miki. I was asuming after the first episode they'll return to the past where Miki wasn't with them yet and start the rest of the show from there. Instead, they do follow the 2nd-3rd chapters of the manga more or less accurately, but Miki is already with them. Well, that could actually be okay if not for one fact:

So with that I'm still uncertain if they ruined the manga's story or not. I have no idea how they will be able to fix this plot hole.
Other than that it was great.

I wonder if I should now anticipate the third episode, or better try to forget about it until it all ends and watch it whole. Ah...

a low quality watermarked gif. clever. original, i might even venture to say.

this is a pretty great adaptation so far. it flows for the most part; rii sans allusion to mikis being trapped at the mall seemed out of place though. i feel like if you havent read the manga youd be super confused so i hope they explain that soon. i like the comedy a lot but that might just be me.

That's what I've been wondering too...
But well, if they really don't follow the manga exactly at least I hope they don't create any unnecessary plot holes in the anime and do a good job with the whole story.
"In the past few months since we met, I've shared many memories with Nagato. Though I've also shared memories with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, I found that I've experienced more events with Nagato in particular. In fact, every situation seems to involve her. I might as well mention this, she's probably the only person to cause the bell within me to shake the most vigorously..." ~ Kyon, TMOSH

Hmm.. somehow I'm not feeling this adaptation. The atmosphere, the little changes here and there, the reordering of chronological events, it's not quite adding up for me. It was better than the first episode though and I do think that Lerche are doing a pretty great job with the visual side of things.

Great episode imo. So far, the quality of Gakkou Gurashi has been consistent and in this episode, we get to see Kurumi's perspective of the zombie apocalypse.

The library scene was quite intense, and surprisingly, Megu-nee was the one to save the day. I thought she would just disappear.

Oh and Nummystick-chan ftw.

This is such a weird series so far! Never imagine such a extreme mix of moe slice of life and zombies like this. Some scenes were so light hearted while others got insanely dark. Not sure how I feel about all of this. Probably have to wait a few more episodes to find out.

Actually without her they probably wouldn't have been able to go on this long, megu-nee keeps her in check. So it's fine for the most part. Having something that keeps you going through hell is essential to survival.

Anyways I'm super happy they were able adapt this well and I loved the second episode.

Yuki isn't insane her condition is caused be shock, it's not the first time i have seen it used in anime like that but i heard it happens during disasters as well.
People seeing things that aren't their usually good things that keep their minds at peace.
Not sure how it works tho but somehow they stay safe, your mind can do some strange things with you.

In any case i have to say it's a shame about the censors they always ruin the anime experience but it's nice to know that the Blue rays might be very interesting.

The premise is interesting, but the moe shit style is kinda getting on my nerves, but the worst of all is the pink haired protag - she pisses me off insanely, precisely because she's being loud and obnoxious when she needs to keep quiet and careful as to not endanger the other survivors. Off her rocker or not, I just hate that.

But in all honesty, there is very little reason to leave Yuki behind. She may be delusional, but she is functional and they live in a situation that is rather safe so she isn't a real danger to the rest of the group

You surely could argue that she is another mouth to feed, but she does her job in keeping up the moral and you really underestimate how important that is. If I'm in a crappy situation like this, you better keep my mood up somehow, or I'll be out to join this new, popular zombie club voluntarily in under a month.

Wow, Lerche is really doing a great job with this adaptation, even with Miki being in the episodes. They even mentioned the mall so it will probably be used as a flashback.
Also, yes this is about a zombie apocalypse but its not supposed to be about scary detailed zombies. It is about the girls coping with the situation and their psychological problems born from the apocalypse to go back to their days of peace and fun. Its a very sweet series with twists and turns, all while being simple at the same time, so dont trash it right away just because it isnt exactly scary, in terms of showing the zombies. It is scary by being realistic with the girl's feelings and problems they have to deal with because of the zombies.

Still not sure about this show, like it tries to be serious but Yuki's delusions make it hard for me to take it seriously somehow. While I see the importance of her role in the story and to the other characters it still doesn't chance the fact that I find her a bit annoying and atmosphere breaking to a degree.

But well, we'll see how the anime evolves as we're only on ep 2, but so far I don't really find it too enjoyable.

What a dumb gimmick. Anime sure hates being taken seriously. It tries so hard to avoid it.

You know it was a manga first right? Shouldn't you rather complain to the mangaka for creating it and not the anime studio?

I mean your whole conversation sounds like what would be discussed before making an original work, more than an adaptation.

Also how couldn't you know what this is? I guess taking five minutes out of your time to read the first chapter is harder than watching 40 minutes of anime.
