What a great episode. I had a feeling his story would be just as melancholy as the rest, but I see him in a different sort of light now.

This is a really great anime, I'm upset at myself for taking so long to see it!

Wow, I was thinking how there was finally an episode without Ginko in it, but as it turns out...

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't immediately recognise Ginko. I actually thought it was just another kid that looks the same as the rest... until the end, obviously. So that's how he got his name and pretty green eye. Definitely made for a good episode - and I especially oved the music this time as well.

Wait, what is it that makes you lose your memory? The ginko? If so, then why didn't Nui forget her family too?
I guess, it wasn't the ginko?

Wait... but... didn't he FORGET everything? He calls himself Ginko... unless... what?

As soon as Nui said "Ginko". I'm like, "it's him as a kid! Yoki!" and bam it all makes sense.

Edit: Nevermind.

Ginko merely adopted the name "Ginko", and he does remember Nui. Ginko sacrificed his eye to live, like Nui instructed. (I'm right! In spoiler.)

Very nice episode for what's been a great series so far.

Sidenote, is it just me or do all the "male children" look damn near identical in each episode XD

Wow, Nui's story was so sad. I didn't guess the kid was Ginko at first, so imagined the she was like, Ginko's long-lost twin or ancestor or mushi clone or something. I was thinking how cool it would've been if they met, but what happened was waaay more better than that.

This show is AMAZING.

At first I thought Nui was a man, lol.

It was good to see Ginko's background. Kind of tragic episode tho.

Very well-done background ep for Ginko. So we, the viewer, know more about his past than he, the character, does it would seem.

so first impressions of this episode "omg its a female ginko!!" lol
and then i kinda put two and two together..but still it's good to see how ginko ended up the way he is.
though that still doesn't explain why his clothes are modern compared to everyone elses =S lol
and no one ever asks him about his hair and eyes.
great episode though =] maybe later one we'll find out why ginko's friend is obsessed with collecting mushi objects?
ginko's name is interesting too =]

All that ^ :)

Sad episode ;_; I think especially the end, when the man told Ginko that he could stay, and it was like Ginko had another home. But then he realized that he would attract a lot of mushi and end up causing problems for the man, so he left...it would be really sad for a kid to realize that they can't stay in one place for too long. It's kind of lonely.

Once she said the name of the fish I already knew this boy was ginko. Though to be honest her dieing felt unnecessary and it just felt like it happend to be sad. I mean what was the point. She could have taken care of this boy and taken him under her wing insted she just abandoned him. I dont know it just had no logical sense. That aside good episode and I hope ginko will be able or has already remembered this lady.

I was pretty sure at the half of episode that Yoki was Ginko. Really cool to see where he come from and who was is mentor.

Is the voice actor of Nui the same as the narrating voice at almost every beginning of an episode? She doesn't look old, even with the white hair, but she sound like a wise old lady.

Another very fascinating episode, it really helped boil down the essence of the Mushi. As Nui put it "Everything is as it is." These stories are really compelling and sad, especially the idea that Mushishi can't ever settle down. But at the same time, I think it's intriguing how the mushi aren't to blame and that they're only acting on the natural order for them.

Ginko's origin story was beautifully done. He gave him some good character development. Now we know why Ginko looks that way and why he is traveling.

"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

At first I thought Nui was Ginko's lost child who was stranded and wondering around the forest for years.
Turns out I was wrong.

So his name was Yoki. Sad that his mother died. v.v

When she said that the name of the mushi was Ginko, I knew it was him right away. Which ruined the surprise for me, but not the enjoyment. At first I thought it was his sister though. Excellent episode!!!

that Ginko was the child,
and that this would explain his origin.

Sad background story, good to see they covered how he got that apparience and turned into mushishi.

I still don't get why he is named Ginko if nobody but Nui called it that away.

At least he doesn't have to think about his death mother and Nui, which is kinda sad as well...
