Absolutely brilliant.
I'd say it's one of my favourites along with 5 and 2. I really wish they'd kissed at the end though.

And yes, that scene with Lio was really disturbing. Drooling all over, wtf?

That was beautiful. I was hoping that Mikiya would stand up again, he 'died' much too quietly for his story to just there.

Don't say that you missed the happy end scene after the final credits?!
Lol no, Mikiya got backup before the credits rolled, remember? It's just that I knew he would stand up again. (:

For the premise where they're in the theater as figurines or little dolls was really cute, especially when they held hands. That seemed like a pretty big theme that plays a bigger part near the very end. When Shiki told Mikiya to sleep there that night I was kinda hoping something would happen or a little bit more development between the two...but oh well. At first when I saw a male Shiki-look-a-like, I thought wtf...but soon realized it was just Rio Shirazumi being a perverted freak dressing up like her. Wasn't too fond of the BL scene; could have done without...was hoping it would've been Mikiya x Shiki kiss but that's ok since it was pretty dramatic already as he crawled to her with all his strength and held her. The saliva licking scene was really gross...strangely enough I found it even more so than the gory flying limbs everywhere. And couldn't Aozaki, Touko just fix Mikiya's eye or at least an artificial one like she did with Shiki's arm? Well at the very least I very much enjoyed the closure scene after the credits with the romantic hand-holding of Mikiya and Shiki.

Now...I wonder if we'll ever see what happens after they become adults?

Ok I cant help but ask.

In the flashback where Shiki is speaking to her grandfather, for a split second we see her older brother. I dont understand why they would introduce a character for 5 seconds and never mention him again. I remember him briefly mentioned in the second movie, but yet again that was only for a few seconds.

A part of me is hoping they do the same as they did for Shirazumi. Give small hints of a character, then out of nowhere make him a main hero/villain of a movie(yes, I am praying they keep exploring the knK universe).

For those of you who missed the scene of her brother:

QFT. My favorite was the second, and seeing how amazing was the last part for it made it a lot better that it would have been as a standalone movie. And of course, the 5 was amazing too, but in another level.

Also, lol at the fact that there was a gay kiss and not a Shiki x Mikiya one.

Well, it was for sure, quite slow at the beginning with Kokuto trying to figure out the drugs issue, but I still liked the fact that it regained the pace in the half of the movie. The OST was ridiculously good as always, the plot was quite generic but to be honest...

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT, IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME AND IT GETS A 9 FROM ME. The fighting scenes and Mikiya holding hands with Shikii at the end was just lovely, Although it still doesn't surpass Fukan Fuukei in my opinion. Mujun Rasen and Boukyaku Rokuon stays as the mosts shitty movies of the whole story for me.

It was all about them. It was touching, and yet tragic and sad and the tension wouldn't stop rising and Lio was all kinds of wrong and then she just lies there and... It takes your breath away. I'd say "brilliant", but I was severly disappointed that it was so... I don't even know how to call it.

All in all, it was an amazing ride. Definitely one of my favorite pieces of all time. The soundtrack, the visuals, the dialogue, everything was so good.

Must watch in chronological order.

Everyone wanted and expected a kiss, but I think it would've been out of character.

Lol no. I did too.

@Static: I don't think it'd have been out of character. They were admiting eternal devotion, Mikiya would have died for her, and she was about to die for him.

@ AngelLily

It wasn't simply that she would die for him, but also that she would kill for him too. One has to remember that, while there were numerous references to Shiki killing people throughout the series, she really only killed Araya, and as Lio said, he didn't count as he couldn't be considered human anymore.

That's why her comment at the end about being a murderer was all the more poignant, because unlike the other movies, this time it was true.

Strikingly beautiful animation.
Great sound & music.
Huge character development(s).
Consistent direction overall.
Unforgettable closure to a marvelous movie series.

It could have been made a tad faster paced in the first half but the second half made up for it as well. Didn't see the happy ending coming which made my day. And seeing a happy, smiling Shiki is priceless.

@ the-ones-going-wtf-for-the-drooling-scene

He was a damn beast at his origin and as you all know he was turning into his that self while still there with Shiki. So, before killing or slaughtering his pray, it's pretty usual of him to drool over the pray.

And I agree that it would have been out of character for both of them to kiss that moment. That hug and the tears was more than enough if you get the meaning.

Lio never meant to kill Mikiya at all. Like Mikiya said, Lio was a coward and could never become the homocidal maniac that everybody believed him to be.

As usual, Lio was lying.

Yes, I did mean in that sense too. By killing Lio, she'd be ultimately killing herself too, and everything she believed, and everything that she were.

But he'll bear her sins and that was the most beautiful line in the whole movie.

I made the mistake of expecting another Mujun Rasen... so it didn't quite live up to my expectations. But looking back, it makes sense.

Rather than treating each movie individually, it makes more sense to treat the entire series as one large story. In that sense, 1-4 is build-up, 5 is the climax, 7 is a conclusion, and 6 is the omake.

However as a standalone movie, 8/10... it's pretty good, but it's no masterpiece.

Jaw-droppingly gorgeous and well-sounding, even more so than the previous ones. They sure brought out the big guns with this finale. It took almost half the movie until the story got me hooked, though, but when it did, I enjoyed it very much.

Best installment in the series, no doubt about it. I'd love to watch this in HD someday.

8/10.

Agreed. As for me, I thought I would like it as much as the 5th movie but so much talking lol, I almost fell asleep during some parts of it till Shiki found him eating some dudes, the movie picked up for me after that for a little while but it felt dragging afterwords. And that big guy is still around too but this is the end of the movies? Isn't he a bad guy that should be dealt with? Anyways, this movie should have been like an hour long instead.

agree with you guys. i love the 5th one, too. well both 5th and 7th are great. but we have to acknowledge that 7th is probably mainly categorized as drama while the 5th is perhaps mainly categorized as mystery. So it's depend on the audience. if, along the way of the story, they really wish for the happiness of mikiya and shiki more than some other aspect, then the 7th would be right for them. (just my guess)

This movie is indeed amazing and great, and it is enjoyable movie so far. The plot is more sense when it comes to interesting storyline. This movie has most touching, awesome ending that I cried so much. It has an interesting storyline, good direction, and stunning animation like as all previous movies have. Mikiya and Shiki’s love and relationship are so wonderful, and I loved how they care each other. These moments are very breathtaking and beautiful that I completely enjoyed it. SHIKI’s motives are finally explained, and it makes sense to me that he has to do that in the second movie where SHIKI meet Mikiya in the school. Overall, it was very great movie, and I fully enjoyed it. In addition, I am very satisfied with very length. Since the final movie was out this year, I can’t wait to re-watch these movies in correct order someday. I am looking forward to Kara no Kyoukai: Epilogue and novels as well. ufotable have a great job on this movie. Moe Shiki is moe. <3

I thought it was interesting to explore some of the inner working and morals of murder. The explanation offered was certainly a unique one. More than the blind action and eyecandy present in some of the other movies, KnK 7 twisted the plot around to make Shiki the real antagonist. Lio was ultimately nothing more than a story advancement device, an weak villain set to psychologically test Shiki.

The level of development in this was phenomenal. Kara no Kyoukai amazed me yet again. 10/10 great finale. Can't wait for the epilogue (if there really is going to be one).

Truly AMAZING episode, there was so many moments where I was in literal and utter disbelief, it's nuts. I haven't felt that awe struck from watching anime in a long time.

I was thrown overboard when Shirazumi was dismembered. From that point on I had my jaw dropped the whole time. I can't believe how stupidly satisfying from that point on the episode was.

There were 3 reasons for me to think that the 7th part will be so-so: 1) the 6th movie was pretty weak 2) I dunno why people worship 5th part, and laudatory reviews from other people about 7th part meant nothing for me 3) I've rated 8/10 only the 2nd part: it means that I consider (actually, considered before the last part) the whole series to be 7/10 overall, what is definitely not bad, but neither not so good as others think.

But, my friends, I can say that creators have done their work perfectly and exceeded all expectations!

1) Romantic line became stronger, it was good move.
2) Ryogi's charatcer had been revealed more, she's not so "cold" as before.
3) Animation is great as in previous movies.
4) There's no illogical, roundly childish or stupid moments -- the main excellence of this anime (comparing with other parts). Naivety is not considered ^^ .
5) The main idea. Though it's pretty simple, but the way it had been revealed is great -- very qualitive.
