| Look at Thorfinn now compared to when he was just a child he looks more fit in combat Charging in that fortress doesn't look too easy with long-range attacks and being vulnerable yourself but Thorfinn was there to prevent it he had some mistakes but he's getting the hang of if not he's almost at a pro-level at this point I don't know why but it seems so relieving to see Thorfinn progress his experience this good in his story and of course the betrayal that's why you never trust anyone so easily. |

| This was like,the only episode I truly enjoyed with no complaints.Even the asspull when they were carrying the ships didn't bother me that much as I should've expected it from Askelaad. |

| Yet another time skip, now Thorfinn should be 16 years old, as old as his sister the year he left his family. Damn, longer without your family despite being under 20 is something unthinkable for most children. Askeladd and his band of pirates are a bunch of fucking warriors alright. Oh, we can't get our boats to get around the fortress? JUST CARRY THE GODDAMN THING OVER THE LAND!!! This is the strategy brought about by brute force and savagery. Vikings are not to be taken lightly whatsoever! Not to mention Thorfinn being the solo scout, at this point, he plays a vital role in the group's chance of victory. Just as the victory has been declared, the fatass decided to pull a quick one from under Askeladd and his men, heh... You're facing a band of pirates here, they are already step ahead of you! Lol, Akeladd looked like such a boss with the crown as he stated that they own all the rights to the treasures, fucking awesome ep. |

| the fk, so thorfinn is just an expendable killer child lackey? why has he stayed with them this whole time, working for the people who used him as a chip and killed his father? just what the fk... he isn't even getting any money, gold, treasure, etc. from this. the animation when he was going through the fortress's soldiers was awesome, hope there's more of that in the future. |

| dunno about all the talking of "this chapter was in the shounen part", it felt to me very much like breserk. though i kinda prefer grifith over askeludd. lsometimes the CGI lagged, but it still was better than everything i had eve seen. but it may be my fault to not watch a lot of newest anime lol i also liked how the camera changed to first person view. to summarise this up i would just say that this episode showed what the studio capable of. |
| Thorfinn was really cool in this episode, especially him taking the head of the captain like that. Also, seeing them with their big smiles was another thing that was great. All that treasure. LOL Thorfinn will also get his duel with Askeladd. Nice. |

| The raid had some really good choreography despite some exaggerated scenes like Thorfinn slicing off a head with one slash. Thorfinn's doing a great job as a scout. Too bad he still has to wait for his duel. |

Clever Thorfinn, clever. Thorfinn could've killed him a long time ago, when he had a sword to Askeladd's neck while he slept. And if not then, then he's certainly skilled enough to kill him in his sleep now. Seeing as how he cut through all those men on the wall in this episode like they were nothing, including a military commander, he could probably kill all of those annoying pirates whenever he wants (just taking a guess here, of course). The point is that he wants to fight Askeladd honorably in a duel, man-to-man with no cheating or cheap tricks, exactly like how his father did before he was murdered. Exactly like how his father taught him to act. Killing him in those circumstances would fulfill Thorfinn's desire for revenge. |

| Episode was not that great for me, have not been as impressed with WIT's animation efforts on this series as I was in the past mainly due to the consistency side of things. There was a lot of noticeable CGI in this episode and while it's not a bad thing if executed well, things definitely looked a lot rougher than usual than the previous couple episodes. Now unlike a lot of other series that use CGI really poorly in a lazy fashion, Vinland Saga's staff did try to do some ambitious stuff with it to create more tense, epic action sequences like with the first-person shots with Thorfinn running, and them him killing soldiers one by one later on (which followed a cut for a couple seconds where no one had faces and they moved like they were animated in MS Paint). There was a lot of cuts that seemed great on paper but fell flat in execution and application, and this episode had more of them than the rest given how action-heavy this one was. Kind of took me out of the tense atmosphere at times with the distractions. I rate the ambitions, and the stills and character art do improve a lot in the second half of the series, but the animation at least for this portion can be great or can be too inconsistent and off at times. Rest of the episode still had some issues too, Thorfinn looked too superhuman here in combat for this particular episode (that Naruto run was so goofy), the noble's design was godawful and the languages issue felt like a mess. I understand that it's difficult to do multiple languages for these characters to showcase how they're on different terms and being unable to comprehend each other. But at least different dialects or something could've just helped a little bit. That would be better than what was here, both in the Japanese and even the English dub. The ending was cool with Askeladd flexing his treasury with his crew, and some minor developments were taking place with how long he manipulated Thorfinn basically and did it one more time here, but Thorfinn was strong enough to take a Commander's head now so a duel between them might sound a bit more interesting than when he was a little kid. He is very easy to read in these times. Again, the CG was off and too noticeable here, but it's not godawful levels like the first couple seasons of Kingdom where the CG looks way worse and there's no ambition with it either. It's just that for the standards that Vinland Saga's anime have built up and people have praised to the heavens, stuff like these feel mildly disappointing. At least for the time being. |
| Now that was a good episode. I thought the first person scenes where pretty cool I especially liked the one of Thorfinn attacking those guys. Seeing Askeladd just stand or walking while being fired on by arrows and somehow not being hit but other around him were I thought was pretty funny. |
