Cool ending, nice way to tie in the original anime. Season 2 will be great. But the art style makes it feel like Im watching a Disney cartoon with Japanese voice acting. I'd take Demon Slayer or AOT art style or even Megan Box 2, jk about MB2 lol

Now that I've had some time to let things sink in, I really dislike how this episode re-used some of the dialogue from the manga in a far less effective way that it actually hurts Vash's character.

In the manga, when Knives asks Vash for his answer, Vash answers for both of them. He specifically posits a solution wherein if the humans hunted them both down, both Vash and Knives could lie low, and through time and longevity as Plants, they could start over and make attempts to reach out to humans. Vash posits that this process can be repeated time and again due to their prolonged life as Plants. In the manga, it was the culmination of Vash's maturity as a person, since he actually offers a solution for both himself AND Knives. Knives being the immature one rejects this and basically prefers to keep himself in a bubble.

Stampede reuses this same dialogue exchange but slightly alters it in such a way that it actually hurts Vash's argument. Vash disowns Knives as his brother (saying he doesn't recognize him anymore) and this betrays the entire point of Rem's final gesture in asking Vash to look after Knives during her farewell. With Vash establishing this distance between himself and Knives, he gives his answer only for himself, saying how he'd pick the side of humans over Knives even when they're hunting him down, elaborating that as time goes on, he'd always run back to them and take their side. This reuses key argumentative points from the manga dialogue but it changes some of the context in a way that it turns Vash's mature solution into something far more similar to Stockholm Syndrome.

Where the manga/98 anime depicts Vash's various adventures in different towns, Stampede almost entirely skips out on Vash's experiences with humans save for his stay in Jeneora Rock. It makes Vash's argument really weak and unsubstantiated compared to the manga where he answers for both himself and Knives due to his many experiences.

It's one of the emblematic things that I really dislike about Stampede: it reuses scenes and elements from the 98 anime and the manga but it alters them in small ways that the dialogue/scene in question become far less effective in execution. When past versions have tackled the same scenes/dialogue far more effectively and maturely, you're basically left with a watered down version of the same story beats.
@ronri Thanks. Now I gotta rewatch and finish the 98 anime. for some reason I got lost towards ep. 22-26.

I watched the entire anime in two sittings, and it was 100% worth it.

I never heard of Trigun before watching Stampede. I heard good things about it and thought, hey, I should watch it. Now, it's one of my favorite series.

I'm most likely going to watch the '98 version at some point but right now, I'm enjoying the high of finishing Stampede. I could also read the manga as well, which I might actually do instead.

Originally watched the OG Trigun forever ago and really liked it, but barely remembered any of it. So I basically went into this blind with just a hint of nostalgia and was super surprised by how good this was. It started a little slow but it found it's stride and now I'm impatiently waiting for Season 2.

Well well his spikey hair returns.

Overall it felt like I was watching a movie. The animation was super well done and the second half where the plot starts picking up is what I enjoyed it the most. Got a lil lost in the end with everything that was happening and had trouble understanding it. But I'll watch a S2 lol

Knives' death was 100% metal. Loved his character and the strong asf resolve he had for his goal.

8/10 - Studio Orange delivering once again. Now let's hope the sequel doesn't take long to come.

The way everything was connected for the second season is amazing. From Vash getting his 60.000 million wanted bounty, to the comeback of Millie for the next season. Nice work Orange studio.

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the earlier episodes. The later episodes, especially this mini story arc... hm... it's kinda underwhelming.

The last episode was, I guess, cool. Epic fight scenes, that cool sequence in space, animations, and music are all great. And that cliffhanger, lol.

I can't see myself going back to this ever. If I want to get my Trigun fix again, I'm going back to the original or the movie. The only thing I thought was redeeming about this was the music which I thought was pretty good.

I loved the clash of idealism between Vash and Nai in their final fight. Nai is trying to explain to Vash why humans are worthless and should be killed, while Vash understands the mistakes humans make and wants to befriend them.

I am a sucker for unique animation styles, and Stampede might be one of the most unique and creative ways of animating a show I have ever seen. The constant use of one-camera shots, the sound effects, the crazy angles, etc.

Vash is a pretty sick character. Seeing how he uses his bright energy to hide the pain that he is going through is something many people (including myself) can relate to.

I think this story is more aligned with the manga although I haven't read it. I liked the story of the 98's but I love this more. Looking forward to it.

This was an absolute trip! The fun easter eggs and the new direction of the plot compared to the manga/1998 anime is all still there yet done in a way that makes Stampede its own entity!

It seems like a season 2 or part two is teased with how everything ended, so I'm curious how that will play out in the future, but regardless, I loved Trigun Stampede! I might just rewatch 1998 actually! :D
