| Askeladd and Thorfinn have a really strange relationship. It's unfortunate that Thorfinn is losing purity by the moment, dirtying his hands and whatnot. |
| Ylva acting all strong after knowing the death of her father and the disappearance of her brother before breaking down when she couldn't hold in tears anymore was sad. I know that feeling, girl. Thorfinn being forced to fend for himself while desperately looking for water and scraps of food was a sad sight especially after what he just witnessed. At least he was able to get a little bit better at using Thors' dagger so he can actually get some real food instead of gnawing meat from bones like a scavenger. I'm very excited to see what sort of warrior he'll become and what feat he'll do to warrant a duel from Askeladd. |

| Kinda weird seeing the pirates pillage a village with no mercy like that but Askeladd showing a lot of mercy towards Thorfinn..just for the now that is.. |

| His loss really would affect him so much since he's still a child, I'm surprised his family wasn't that shocked either well as far as I know Thorfinn really is trying his best to make out of what he has now seeing him achieve something new sets a new boundary to surpass his limits and survive He improved a few bits of his swordsmanship but he has a lot to go through even Askeladd sees his potential. |

| Well, these pirates are certainly kind enough to not kill a kid in cold blood, they aren't the most ruthless savages of that era, because, for one, they spared Thorfinn from both death or slavery. At least he's free to roam and train to his heart's content. I still don't really know how the villagers didn't make sure Thorfinn is onboard before they sailed back to Iceland... Now with Thors gone and Thorfinn missing, it's up to Ylva to do most of the work in the house and around the villages. It's a good thing she's a tough woman, just as how Thorfin took some qualities of his late father, Ylva herself share the same fate. Can you imagine how exhausting it is to do what she has to do in a day under constant freezing temperature? It's only within her home with her mother that she get the chance to shed tears over her father's death. What a daughter, Thors would be proud of her for being such a hard worker and took the reins of the household by herself, all the while as she suppress her sorrow. |

| lol but how did lief/leif lose thorfinn??? they never confirmed what happened... you want to find thorfinn, but how about not having had lost him in the first place HAHAHA. oh man. i'm surprised all of the men, after having killed all of the villagers, didn't kill or stab thorfinn. how in the world does that make sense, just look at the kid's eyes and how he has been surviving on his own without anybody else. mfer is six years old and killing wolves or coyotes all by himself in the woods, are you sure you want to let him live? this traumatized him at an early age, that grudge is gonna stay for a millennia. well, suit yourselves. very sad btw, i think i should read the manga after this series because it's insanely good. and of the historical genre. |

| Another great episode. Couldn't help but feel bad for Thorfinn and then we got saw his family as well. Ylva was putting up the hard figure and was trying to hide her emotions but everything has a limit. Really freaking sad. Thorfinn and Askeladd made a promise of the duel. |

| I was shocked at how Ylva was reacting to Thors's death until she cried which made more sense. "The blood of the Troll of Jom runs in his genes" More like the blood of the protagonist and plot armor cuz he could have died already if Askelad killed him. |
| I felt like the way Leif and company just lost Thorfinn a bit when having to go back felt like it was missing something, especially with no reaction shots to it besides the aftermath with their arrival. But beyond that, this was a good episode that was pretty impressive for what featured a lot of anime-original content. Thorfinn and his process to grow, develop and survive with his emotions being clouded with revenge and depression was nicely showcased here. The anime-original stuff fleshed out the series well, while feeling true to the main story. That's how to execute an anime-original episode. 86 later on did that really well, even Moribito's anime did that well. The visual storytelling and pace here was good, and the backgrounds looked gorgeous )only visual faults being some implementations of CG and the mixed media elements clashing at times). The previous episode and Thors left me with mixed feelings, I liked this one more in this rewatch. Sucks for Ylva and Helga to deal with the death of one of their family members and the other one being missing, far away from where they are. Ylva's reactions at the end after she was pushing herself too much to ignore the pain of loss showed that at the end. Even the raiding of the village and Askeladd's manipulation of Thorfinn's revenge goal to join his crew and get work done for him were quality scenes as a whole. |
| fuck thorfin, lil brat was so shitty against everyone and then he thinks he can handle the dude that killed thor? thorfin won't realize that his father's death is his stupid fault. i liked this bit where thor was fighting but a revenge story about some dipshit brat with anger management is shitty. |

| I really loved the scene where Thorrfin tries to kill Askeladd in his sleep (all the while Askeladd KNOWING yet not DOING anything). Almost as if Askeladd wanted to test the kid's character, to see how similar he was to his dad. |

| I totally forgot about Ilva's scene, where she works hard all day after hearing the news of her father's death, seemingly unfazed, only to let it all out at the end of the day. Speaking of which, I also totally forgot of she and their mother Helga are still alive at the end of this season; if they are.... will we see them again??! |
