I dont want to call it pretentious, as it is consistent. That beeing said, I would enjoy this a lot more of everyone were on equal terms - Its like everyone else is playing a different game, a generic RPG, while MC kun is the only one with a fully interactable world. I know she says in one point that she rather have an adventurous life rather than what she just went through, but its still suspicious. Bad writing I guess. Probably bc she never gets out from her nest. Just think her nest is a very peaceful place and demon lord still didn’t exist in majority of her lifetime, she’s a lowkey 2000 y/o NEET. Out of those trashy 2000 years she has, she shouldn't talk big like she did with the dwarve before, that's the Irony here xP Edit: She said that she rather have peaceful adventures, then I wonder where those adventures where then Maybe I am confusing them with a different group, but didnt the elve also make comments about how dangerous the demon lord etc is? I get that having elves beeing older than trees while at the same time beeing naive as fuck is a common stereotype, found in sci fi as well, but atleast they usually dont assume beeing fuck old equals any kind of wisdom. I can assure you he isn't the only "Smart" guy around. Mostly the ones who think they are in a game are just rookies and yes it's a bit of a stretch but it's to make fun of a few common tropes. It's better in the novels. And most of the rookies are wannabe heroes. The flashbacks were too much yes, but it's common in many anime. Quality animation is pretty much ok and basically the same as episode 1. Nothing too crazy but not bad either. Music is on point tho. I would say that there is a bit more depth in the novels but it's too subtle and with a cut here and a cut there, the anime will focus mostly on the hack-and-slash part. No ofcourse they had experience (aside elf girl which is stated in the novel is pretty new to the whole thing despite being skilled) But you can see that the party wasn't composed by idiots, simply Goblin Slayer is more creative. Sometimes the guild is composed by idiots but later in the series (not sure if they will show it) you come across with other clever warriors or simply skilled ones. around steel often they are still green. At times it's a bit of a stretch but it's not a perfect series. |

- im suprised as the Blood spreading scene doesnt get censored due this is still TV version. - FYI, elf rarely going out (far away) from their nest for just simply find an experience and go home... This kind of elf only found on pure fantasy theme that doesnt contain echi harem in it. - when i see that dwarf again... there is something wrong in it. You guys know dwarfs right? - This party still lack of team work and experience. - as the Ogre said that he need more goblin.. it looks like the goblin are easy to controlled by power. |

Very good episode I really enjoyed it, and the battle against the ogre was pretty good I was not expecting that, especially the use of the scroll. I'm starting to take a liking to elf girl she seemed very emotional towards the end which I thought was nice |

This was E P I C!! The elf girl had some depth and the dwarf dude is really wise and strong and to be honest when I see the elf girl and the dwarf working together I can't help but think that they're so similar to the dynamic of Legalos and Gimli (from lord of the rings in case you didn't know) *I also ship the elf girl and the dwarf dude but just in a platonic way so put that knife down will ya* |

Man, the Priestess cracked me up with her "You'll get used to it" expression on her face towards the High Elf Archer. XD The fight with the Orge was pretty good. Although the animation was average again, not rubbish, but not great either, but it still did its job in the fight and I enjoyed it. Plus points for the fitting soundtrack and Goblin Slayer's plan working like an absolute charm. The whole group's teamwork worked pretty well and thanks to GS's instinct, they're able to save the captive Elf lady from any more harm, which was a relief. |

BokoHaramSenpai said: lol wut ive never read the manga but i think its stupid to say the tone shift in goblinslayer has 'no consistency whatsoever' and is '[subverting] expectation for sake of subverting expectation'. for one the abrupt tone shift in the first episode (really the only major one so far) was hardly done just for its own sake. it shocked the viewer. it built a shit ton of hype for the series. seriously nobody would shut the fuck up about the show-- so it obviously served its purpose. beyond that there already seems to be a predictable pattern for the show, where it oscillates between dark/serious and lighthearted/fun. not like its the first show to do it, frankly its welcomed because i dont want to watch some generic fantasy anime. a breadth of emotion is welcome. and its enjoyable here because it's obviously intended as such and isn't the result of poor editing or something like that. Abrupt shifts in note aren't sign of good writing, and doing so to deliver a cheap shock factor isn't good either. Hazama_san said: I didn't know dark fantasy had a preset folder with character designs that the authors have to consult. I guess Miura also missed the memo when designing Shierke, Farnese and Casca. What kind of story would you expect from the character designs alone? Especially female character designs, because obviously, you can throw in a picture of faceless protagonist. |

The way they reacted to MC kun stating its effective to smoke them out or drown them, ike "wow never thought you could interact with the world like this" Thats what I meant by playing 2 different games. I could accept that stronger monsters arent affected by drowing or fire and thats why they never thought about it, even though I know its not like it. Lets just go with this. |

The scene was 20 seconds long, and you're comparing it to THE most insufferable voice ever in shounen anime?Speaking of dumping, oh how I do love narration. Isn't it just great to hear a detached voice tell you such redundant information. And that voice tres bien as the Polish say, I still find it hard to believe they got a cheese grater to speak my hears have only ever bled so much when watching Black Clover. And then the comedy that this show has is just so good I don't need to say anything but I will. Am I meant to laugh when the "moral centre" of this show, the priestess, is completely fine with being bathed in the blood of her enemy without so much as flinching. Why yes I am? Thank goodness I almost thought there was going to be character depth thank goodness. I thought it was mildly entertaining and not something that was meant to make you burst out laughing. I'm curious though, do you think it would've been better if she had said the same line in a more serious tone? And then when we cut back to our main characters after the opening, which doesn't fit the tone of the anime and the animation is as fun as watching static, I hear the cling of the sword ringing through the hall and I can't help but be glad that the protagonists are suicidal as who in their right mind in a SECRETIVE raid would make such a noise but nevertheless I'm Sad to say that it stopped for no clear reason meaning that the main characters do understand the meaning of stealth. Your guess is as good as mine. Checking for traps? Trying to lure out any hidden goblins? I have no idea.Oh another brilliant thing just showed up our lead was about to kill an elf. Now I know some of you naive watchers may think he was going to kill the goblin but that doesn't make sense because that would imply that he was able to see through the invisibility spell the goblin had cast on itself after all no one was able to see it until it jumped out and I'm sure more advanced races, like a race with functioning eyes, would have been able to see it. And how had the lone goblin cast an invisibility spell on itself? Normal goblins cannot use high-level magic like that or any sort of magic, to begin with. The goblin was hiding under some rocks, and as it was already established in the first episode that Goblin Slayer is very adept at fighting in dark places. Also I just love a protagonist who knows everything with no reason why like how the FUCK did he know that the elf wasn't going in blind like they were and why didn't the supposedly ever learning goblins not search the bag i know because they wanted a disturbing scene with a practical reason why oh how great this anime is. Dunno about the first part, but considering the only thing in the bag was the map, it is pretty obvious that the thing was looted of everything else. Plus, what would the goblins use the map for? Also I now know why the place they are in is underground you can barely see a thing and isn't that what really matters. It was already established quite a while ago that goblins like to dwell in dark places.I heard people prasing the fight scene in this show and I can see why I mean if you compare it to the fight scene in SAO alicization ep 4 it doesn't stand a chance I understand this feeling of retardness. Praise comes from the fact that it's not just some simple button-mashing like it is in SAO. The one who uses their head is the one who wins, not the one who hits the hardest *cough* Kirito *cough*.[An ogre has appeared] She ran out of spells after saving the others. Are you saying that having a limit is bad?《What will you do?》 "Have Useless Girl do something about it." 《Useless Girl actually does something.》 "You're kidding." 《Useless Girl is now more useless》 "That's better" Did you know that water radiates light if you didn't know that then you've been drinking uncontaminated water you fool, I mean even Goblin Slayer, the show, knows water fucking SHINES. It shouldn't oh... that explains my cancer! One of the first things they showed when they entered the chamber where they fought the Ogre was that the roof was open, meaning light was shining in."Now then... what were you called again?" Coolest line of all anime do you know what would have made this cooler if the ogre actually gave his name in the first place. He was asking what he was (hint: the answer would've been "an Ogre"), not his first or last name.No offense, but: Calling this an analysis is an insult to every analysis ever made. I can understand genuine criticism, I'm not one to say "your opinion is wrong", I even agree on a couple of points you made, but this is just an angry rant. You would know the answer to more than half of the things you brought up if you weren't being a retard and payed attention to the show. Thank you for reading. |

Anyway, why she is even there, other than appealing to lolicon faggots like me? Also, 15 minutes of foreshadowing for what? For being dark and edgy? Which has been thrown out of the window previous episode to be a generic comedy? Best part of the show doesn't even appear in first 15 minutes, it was end of it and mostly second episode when they tried to show protagonist is actually competent in what he does, and using tactics to actually beat his enemies. And this is probably the good thing in the show, because protagonist are rarely like that in anime. |

She's moved on.Also since you're curious i would have preferred her as the moral centre of Goblin Slayer, the character, to at least show some naivety or condemn him not just take it stride. [But the thing is she moved on OFF SCREEN which just makes her disposable. We don't see her reject the idea even though she was made out to be naive, I mean sure she was horrified first but out of the three raids only two involved drenching, so what I, as someone who hasn't read the manga, see a character who isn't well fleshed out enough to make her find it okay to be drenched in blood. Also this is just my input but I would have found it better if she showed remorse at the deaths of even goblins saying that "Every being shouldn't have to die so cruelly." Giving us something to remember the character by, as someone who presents a less brutal ideology of GS,rather than just rolls the motions and adds nothing to the story. That was the joke the goblin appeared out of nowhere when I was watching but if you say that it was under a rock, something that I didn't see, then it makes sense... kind of. If you go back and watch the scene, you will see that it's coming out of some sort of hole with two rocks in a triangular shape, like this: /\•First why are there large rocks in the waste place? •Second the goblins were shinning how was no one able to see it? I did go back and watched the scene again but I didn't see anything however just in case I turned the brightness to the highest setting on my phone and I was able to see it. Details like that should have been clear and anyone with functioning eyes would have seen it as the elf, their main focus, was in front of it and what doesn't make sense is that the goblins eyes should shine in the dark, something that nocturnal or cave living animals have to have due to adaptation, but their eyes react better in light something that doesn't make biological or contextual sense but is just meant to be visually pleasing. The criticism wasn't the setting but rather the fight scene i couldn't make out a thing and I'm sure there was a scene that affected the next one but all I could make out was a goblin dying. If you're talking about the scene with the elf and the goblin, then I think that's just you. I personally had no difficulty whatsoever making out what happened. Maybe you're just not used to it?Yeah you were right, I could guess what was happening but it was more inference and I was partially confused the next scene. But he doesn't use his head he gets knocked out, then stands in front of the ogre waiting to be attacked for no reason that fit his charecter and uses a scroll he wasn't even planning on using for the nest but just because it was a good ex-machina. He did use his head. It was his first time fighting an Ogre. Not only did the Ogre have a healing ability, but also took out Goblin Slayer in one hit. It was a Deus ex machina, but at least it wasn't on the level of Kirito vs. Blue-eyed Demon where Kirito pulled dual-wielding straight out of his ass and did nothing but mash the attack button, so to speak.First point would be that it was less using his head and more of catharsis for the audience as it doesn't occur to him as nothing but a last ditch effort something more likely from a shounen than a mature anime. Second I didn't go that far into the first SAO{I commend you for going that far though} i quit at episode 5 and I dropped the franchise in episode 1 of the second season, what I was talking about was SAO Alicization, the only above five star SAO, ep 4 which had Kirito facing goblins with no ex-machina apart from something the show did to grow Eugeo as a character. And if you look at the fight in SAO it isn't as good SAO although it was just button mashing it was fluid and to be honest neither of them had a good fight choreography as GS barely spent anytime on its fight when Goblin Slayer wasn't involved and SAO was too repetitive. Fluid button mashing is still button mashing. You could say that the Arkham games have fluid fights, but that doesn't erase the fact that all you're doing during the fluid fights is mash the attack button, and the occasional counter button.SAO just has the privilege of having better animation than most shows, including Goblin Slayer. But which is more fun stiff action or sakuga. Also,no offence to anyone who likes the show, SAO does not have the best fight animation in the industry. A1 pictures is bland and repetitive, the sakuga may be passable but if you compare most of their famous works to White Fox, the studio doing GS, then White Fox wins. Let me show an example which is better overall Steins Gate or SAO? It isn't a matter of studios or money it's the effort put into it SAO Alicization seems to have more effort put into it than the stiffness of Goblin Slayer. Also if you want a good fight scene can I recommend B: The Beginning or Sirius the Jeager these are two great shows if you like sakuga, just a suggestion. However the goblin massacre was nice but there was unnecessary actions like making them go to sleep and drunk when they already were and they could easily just hit them with arrows or pull a sneaky on them. It wasn't unnecessary, there were A LOT of them. And if they woke up, like from the screeching of one of them being killed by an arrow or by a sneak attack, they could easily overwhelm the party AND alert the ogre which would've doomed them entirely. Pullin a sneaky or hitting them with arrows would've been too risky. But you'd have to fuck up to wake them up if the elf is as skilled as they showed a sleeping target should have been instant kill and I'm sure the dragon and GS could have easily slit their throats. I'm not saying that I'm saying that the priestest is just there she doesn't play an active role in the story if the other characters had her power what would she add, nothing she is useless. Give it time, maybe she'll get better. She might get better but does that really make sense in a narrative point of view. Narratives need to hook the audience on a character not ask the audience to wait for them to gethe better this just makes even some fans dislike her. If they showed the open roof it makes sense but why was the water shinning not reflecting since it was way too bright to just be a dim light. It looked pretty reflective to me. Plus, there are two moons in this world, thus the light during the night can be strong if the sky is clear. No that's not how moons work. The only way for that to happen is the sun has to be larger than ours as moons reflect light not radiate it. Also one moon is way behind or smaller than the other so the brightness would barely be any different to our one if that was how moons work. Thanks for the hint I really appreciate how you turned from a reasonable person to a dick. You mean the fact that he's dressed in Japanese clothing and not heavy armor or something like that?- so you dont notice it too, fine... i'll explain it.. Dwarfs should be smaller than elfs... This is the first time i seen a Dwarf can use a magic This is the first time i seen a Dwarf that doesnt fight on close range combat This is the first time i seen a Dwarf that doesnt stubborn and many more.... Well, dwarf is definitely shorter than the elf, the elf is the one that should be taller. That drawf inspiration comes from japanese monk. You can that he has the clothes, elongated earlobes, and his drinking gourd. As for the fight, even Gandalf can fight with swords, so... Well my 2 yen - Picking up a sword is different from the ability to use magic. Everyone with atleast one hand can do the first, not so much the second. |

Anyway, the only one who showed any reaction to Goblin Slayer's methods of destroying goblin nests was High Elf, which is understandable since throughout the episode we see how she's just not used to such things. She even says at the end, "adventures are supposed to be fun". Implying just how naive her views are. |

TrashIsMyWaifu said: It doesn't make her disposable at all. Not everything can be shown on-screen. Frodo and Sam from LoTR did a lot of journeying off-screen during their way to Mordor, does that make them disposable? As I said, she went on more adventures off-screen, and as far as we know, she could've been drenched in blood many more times. In this episode they show us that she's done it enough times that she's gotten used to it, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But the thing is she moved on OFF SCREEN which just makes her disposable. What you're saying is completely illogical considering what she has gone through. You want her to feel remorse for the creatures she saw brutally rape and murder three people right in front of her eyes? The first episode already communicated that the goblins are bastards who deserve no mercy. It was straight-out said that "there are no good goblins in this world". I don't understand why you want her to suddenly feel sorry for the goblins just because they're "living creatures" and can breathe. They're parasites of the worst kind. A dumb pacifist-like girl in this show would be what a tumor is to a human body.I did go back and watched the scene again but I didn't see anything however just in case I turned the brightness to the highest setting on my phone and I was able to see it. Ahhh, you're watching from your phone? Then the fact that you can't make out some things is your fault, not the show's. Try watching from a bigger screen next time. I have my brightness on the lowest setting (5 out of 100) yet I had no problem making out the things that you missed.Eyes of animals that can see in the dark don't have a constant shine. You see that green tint/shine only if you shine a light straight at them. Trust me, I've seen this with cows a dozen times. The goblins in SAO were just that though, goblins, minions, small fry etc. In this, Goblin Slayer was basically facing a boss character, and he didn't win by pull a nuke out of his ass, he didn't win by suddenly revealing a secret OP ability, he didn't win by the power of friendship, he won by using a scroll that was built-up from the previous episode. It wasn't as bad as some people are making it out to be.But which is more fun stiff action or sakuga. Also,no offence to anyone who likes the show, SAO does not have the best fight animation in the industry. A1 pictures is bland and repetitive, the sakuga may be passable but if you compare most of their famous works to White Fox, the studio doing GS, then White Fox wins. Hey, I'm just as disappointed with GS's animation as you are. I wish it was better.Let me show an example which is better overall Steins Gate or SAO? It isn't a matter of studios or money it's the effort put into it SAO Alicization seems to have more effort put into it than the stiffness of Goblin Slayer. Right now, SAO is an already established franchise with millions of followers all over the world. GS is new and barely anyone knows anything about it (or at least that used to be the case before episode 1 happened). I don't blame White Fox for not throwing all their money into this show, and I won't say that it's because of laziness. If White Fox was indeed lazy with this anime, then you can bet your ass this would've been on Toei levels of bullshit animation with a permanently CGI Goblin Slayer and a CGI Ogre. But you'd have to fuck up to wake them up if the elf is as skilled as they showed a sleeping target should have been instant kill and I'm sure the dragon and GS could have easily slit their throats. Why risk doing something that could wake up the goblins, if you can instead put them to sleep and then kill them at your leisure? Being really skilled at something doesn't automatically make you an OP God with 100% accuracy. If High Elf missed even ONE of the targets and hit them in the shoulder or something, then it would've turned into a disaster. What and how they did it was slow, methodical, and calculated. This is not a show where the protagonists can take on two dozen goblins at the same time in an open area, and that's what would've happened if even a SINGLE one of the sleeping goblins woke up or made a noise. Anyway, this the last I'm gonna say about this topic, cause if what I've said above can't convince you then I don't know what can. She might get better but does that really make sense in a narrative point of view. Narratives need to hook the audience on a character not ask the audience to wait for them to gethe better this just makes even some fans dislike her. You're the only one I've seen complaining about Priestess. She seems pretty fine to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯No that's not how moons work. The only way for that to happen is the sun has to be larger than ours as moons reflect light not radiate it. Also one moon is way behind or smaller than the other so the brightness would barely be any different to our one if that was how moons work. I dunno man, I'm just guessing. To be honest, at this point, you're just nitpicking. In the end, the shine/reflection/whatever of the water is an inconsequential detail that was only on the screen for a few seconds yet you've made such a big deal out of it. It's like complaining that the wind was too strong or that the fence is not built from the right wood or that the Cow Girl isn't milking the cows correctly. Like, gimme a break man. Seriously, I'm slowly starting to question whether or not you even enjoy watching anything at all, do you put all shows under a magnifying glass or is it just with Goblin Slayer? The problem i had for calling me retard was rather than it being constructive it was more I'm triggered because you saw things differently but I would have found your points reasonable if you didn't turn pissy. You say that when more than half of the points you brought up at the start sounded more like a triggered rant rather than actual constructive criticism for the show. Yet I still responded to the majority of them seriously. At least you didn't insist on them once you got the answes, which is commendable. |

TrashIsMyWaifu said: An analysis of trash by trash Goblin Slayer ep4 The mentally retarded Beware This analysis contains opinions, opinions are known to cause heart attacks. And to make these opinions worse than writer expects you to know what he's talking about what a dick. __________________________________________ To start this analysis I just want to say I'm more disappointed in this crumbling community than I am in the fact that SAO alicization wasn't all that bad. <note this is a joke, the community part that is, no shade thrown> __________________________________________ My first problem when I began watching this was that I was watching this, knew this was going to be average at best but boy was I wrong, oh how foolish I was to expect average things after all this show has so much to dump on you. Speaking of dumping, oh how I do love narration. Isn't it just great to hear a detached voice tell you such redundant information. And that voice tres bien as the Polish say, I still find it hard to believe they got a cheese grater to speak my hears have only ever bled so much when watching Black Clover. __________________________________________ And then the comedy that this show has is just so good I don't need to say anything but I will. Am I meant to laugh when the "moral centre" of this show, the priestess, is completely fine with being bathed in the blood of her enemy without so much as flinching. Why yes I am? Thank goodness I almost thought there was going to be character depth thank goodness. __________________________________________ And then when we cut back to our main characters after the opening, which doesn't fit the tone of the anime and the animation is as fun as watching static, I hear the cling of the sword ringing through the hall and I can't help but be glad that the protagonists are suicidal as who in their right mind in a SECRETIVE raid would make such a noise but nevertheless I'm Sad to say that it stopped for no clear reason meaning that the main characters do understand the meaning of stealth. __________________________________________ Oh another brilliant thing just showed up our lead was about to kill an elf. __________________________________________ Also I just love a protagonist who knows everything with no reason why like how the FUCK did he know that the elf wasn't going in blind like they were and why didn't the supposedly ever learning goblins not search the bag i know because they wanted a disturbing scene with a practical reason why oh how great this anime is. __________________________________________ Ah the generic rock soundtrack is just grating, background music that doesn't work well with a scene just great. __________________________________________ Also I now know why the place they are in is underground you can barely see a thing and isn't that what really matters. __________________________________________ I heard people prasing the fight scene in this show and I can see why I mean if you compare it to the fight scene in SAO alicization ep 4 it doesn't stand a chance I understand this feeling of retardness. __________________________________________ [An ogre has appeared] 《What will you do?》 "Have Useless Girl do something about it." 《Useless Girl actually does something.》 "You're kidding." 《Useless Girl is now more useless》 "That's better" __________________________________________ Oh my god is that bad CG, Goblin Slayer just turned into bad CG. __________________________________________ I thought priestess could barely stand now she runs faithfully to Goblin Slayer, the character, now that is the rightful place for women only able to live for a man. __________________________________________ Did you know that water radiates light if you didn't know that then you've been drinking uncontaminated water you fool, I mean even Goblin Slayer, the show, knows water fucking SHINES. It shouldn't oh... that explains my cancer! __________________________________________ "Bad music while expositing dumb things, this must be that masterpiece Full Metal Alchemist! Its not? It's Goblin Slayer? I think not." -A dunce 2018 __________________________________________ "Now then... what were you called again?" Coolest line of all anime do you know what would have made this cooler if the ogre actually gave his name in the first place. __________________________________________ >Insulting Aoi Yuuki's voice It was at this moment you were identified as a troll |
