The entire season, save for Yashiro's reveal as the silver king, was meh 5/10
After 13 episodes I still didn't care about any of the characters, but at least the soundtrack was nice.

*drinks hateraid*

Red king died, oh well, he was just a monotone, stubborn walking time bomb with a bunch of loser, misfit followers...

Yeah it was pretty bad.The few redeeming moments were Kuroh showcasing his abilities(although it was like they wanted to piss us off by giving us a short clip of well animated, well choreographed fighting when they couldve done so much more with it) and the scene with kuroh and neko honoring Weismann(shiro does not exist in my mind) and of course HOMRA(especially Anna) mourning over Mikoto. Though, the beautiful animation and music made those moments more emotional then they really should have been, because the anime did such a bad job of executing the plot and conveying each characters motivations throughout the story.

Right in the feels.

The last few episodes definitely redeemed the show I suppose. I'm not sure how I feel about there being a season 2. While there are still unsolved plot holes, the main conflict's been solved so I have no clue what they could logically do with a second season.

Meh. This episode was probably a 9/10 for me.

The show as a whole would be a 8/10 leaning heavily towards 7/10.

Wrote a very long review as talking about my feelings and reactions for K can only be convey here. Though I hate using the MAL scoring system =3=

8/10 for me would have been a 7 but the story manage to be keep itself interesting. And plot holes? Their is only 1 as I found ton of answers in this episode alone!

For a series that is slow in development at early stage, it ties things up pretty well.

And as I said several times before, all the many characters are there to create room for prequels, sequels and spinoffs, and so it proves with the announcement of a 2nd season. In fact I think it may have been planned all along from the beginning.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

I don't know. I'm a bit confused and a bit unsatisfied, mostly because the pace and timing of events was a little too convenient for me (to explain several plot devices in one to two episode....). The last episode made me drop it down a few notches because it felt choppy and weird as well. I didn't get really emotional about anything and it was just awkward.

I'll watch Season Two but with reservations now. If they explain some things or work out the kinks, I will gladly fall right back in love. Until then, eh? It reminds me of how Guilty Crown was in a less but still kind of like I had hope for you and you let me down kind of way, jeez.

This anime has some pretty style too, damn.

I was tearing up at the end T.T

Shiro-kun!! Please be alive T.T

Now to be honest I thought this anime was really good, I found Shiro to be a likeable protagonist. Soft spoken, easy going, a go-with-the-flow kind of guy that was really refreshing for me since I haven't come across a lot of protagonists like that in anime (I can only think of Allan Walker at the moment). And the story was pretty well done too. I feel like it started off kind of slow and then picked up speed, hit the climax around eleven and twelve and then kind slowed down a bit to a soft bittersweet ending, it was almost like listening to a symphony. I also think that they managed to tie everything up really nice and answer the majority of the questions I had at the beginning of the series and like I said back in the beginning episodes it was a spiderweb of plot with a bunch of twists that left me surprised :)

Some people have said that it left a lot of plot holes but I have seen anime that left more and got higher ratings and more praise (*Looks at Mawaru Penguindrum* and the fans tried to explain the plot holes away with the use of "symbols" -.- worse character development in this one too...) and anime that have had more ambiguous endings (*looks at Wolf's Rain* though that one I actually liked because everything prior to the ending was good...).

As for the fanservice, well I liked the bishies and the BL XD as for the fanservice aimed at guys I kind of tuned most of it out, even in like episode 7 where they had Neko running around naked it was like, I just don't care anymore o.o besides towards the end Neko sort of grew on me (personality wise) and I didn't mind her as much anymore. Her yelling out how she would give the umbrella to Shiro at the end nearly broke my heart just as much as Anna crying out Mikoto's name T.T

Overall I give it a 9/10 and was super excited when I saw there would be a second season (*secretly hopes Shiro will come back*) and I hope that it does just as okay (if not better) as the first season managed to do ^.^

Personally I am hoping for a second season. I had no trouble at all with the "plot holes" since the show was made to be quite short and there is hints a little here and there that makes the producers able to create a second show if money allows to. Also seen that some is saying that
was the worst move possible; you can not really say such until you have seen the next show.

I was never really a fan of Yashiro or Weismann to begin with so... I'm disappointed in Mikoto's death however, because of how he welcomed the blade. The Red and Blue King's embrace was great though. There's a distict contrast between the two gangs but I was constantly wondering what the other Kings look like, Green and Black for example I think. I guess that's what season 2 will bring.

Pacing was slow, especially when most of it centred on Shiro's mystery which I wasn't too interested in. I feel really sorry for Anna who had to suffer so much during the season. She was probably my favourite charcter and I would have liked to see more of her powers.

Visual presentation was amazing throughout. The whites, blues and greens really make K memorable to me. OP was great. I thought the show started off incredibly strong but was gradually lacking from that point on. 4/10.

Good luck with having a second season with 2 Kings dead. Kuroh and Reishi aren't good enough to keep it interesting anymore and Neko sure as hell isn't anything worth watching again.

8/10 regardless but killing off Mikoto on the last episode was a shit move.

Well for what this anime was worth it had somewhat a decent ending, at least everything was finished off and that's good even if there was a second season announced short after the finish of the first it still a good ending for this part.

The anime in general wasn't all to good imo, very confusing barley to non explanation and horrible story development, although they did make up for that in the last 4 episodes so that's a plus. But yea still the anime was rather on the boring side if it wasn't for Neko and Anna I wouldn't have kept watching in the first place.

Oh well lets see what the sequel has to offer when it will air. For this part a 7/10

The show was partly a mess. It was at its best when it didn't focus on the main characters. Animation quality dropped by a landmark in between and the music was rather repetitive. Many people from the great seiyuu cast also didn't get their chance to shine, so the potential felt rather wasted.

Still the show had its moments. Not sure if I'll watch season 2, but I'll think about that later.

I don't believe that shiro died, firstly there was that flash of light during neko and kuroh scene and secondly because they really hyped up the whole immortal king concept, plus there's the fact that weissman's body is with the gold king and i get the feeling he just returned to his original body during the explosion.

Thought it was awesome during the HOMRA scene but overall i just didn't feel the story was well written and definitively it wasn't given enough time to fully develop the characters, 24-26 episodes would have fixed that.

7/10 from me for the visuals and main characters in shiro, neko and kuroh

Shiro is definitely dead. Was shown only too well. But Wiesmann will probably live. While he expected to die, his powers have kept him alive before. And what other plot point is there in the gold king preserving his original body alive? So I expect him to, to his surprise, find himself back in his original body. And I know I'm not the first to say so.

A second season? Why, I believe there is no need for a second season. I don't think anything they'll do will give added value to this season, because this storyline is completely closed as far as I can see. Besides, I don't think I will watch a second season. It was fine, but part of me is glad it's over now.

Loved it from episode 3. Kept on loving it until episode 13's end.
Good anime that took out the negative emotions on anime series as a whole that I have gathered during the last few years' lack of interesting stuff for me.

I believe I've had too much of flat and idiotic stories that centre around a lame, half-assed girl that screams and whines (Ichigo Kurosaki included here). Thankfully, my dreading that Neko would be an incredible turn-off for me ended up being absolutely unreasonable and she is actually something lovely.

Expecting new season with more than a positive feeling.

Also, there are SEVEN kings. How much do we know of? Silver, Gold, Blue, Red and Colourless. 1 or 2 of which are dead and replacements are to be presented.

There are at least 2 more we know nothing of and I can't wait to find out about them as well as to the replacements on the 1/2 dead ones. Since there is no actual prove of the death of the colourless thing.

But it was a very sad ending.

Reading the comments of this thread, I feel like most of the people who gave low ratings (with the exception of select few):

One, was unable to grasp on to the story properly.

Two, expected too much from minor characters.

Three, don't understand why this was called K "project" in general.

Four, spew illogical hate.

To start, the series is called K project because it's not just an anime. The manga and novel consists of CANON tie-in prequels. This includes the story of Kuroh's travel to find Shiro and the members of HOMRA. If you feel the need to argue character development of anyone in particular in the ANIME, it would be Shiro, Suoh and Munakata. However, being that Shiro and Suoh were developed accordingly, Munakata is the only one who serves for complaint (being that nothing about him is explained in neither the manga nor the anime). Otherwise, the development of certain characters is completely unnecessary and only result in wasting time on episodes. With the 13-episode set they were given, they did exceptionally well in developing an entire set of characters (Mikoto, Anna, Shiro/Weissman, Misaki, Colorless, Fushimi). Seeing as there will be a season 2, I personally find no reason to give such a heavy downgrade simply because their stories had little relation to the story of the anime.

The story works in a "Chaos Theory" format. To most, it seems like sloppy random actions. In reality, it takes a fair amount of excellent writing to execute this properly. For those unfamiliar with the Chaos Theory, events are made out to seem random and sometimes even pointless, but they end up tying to a single point in the end. They usually have a singular start, a number of events in the middle and then a solitary end.

So, with K, the start was the hunting of Shiro. Then, we've got these many different random adventures and events in the middle. In the end, all of those events in the middle tied together somehow.

If you get the story, rather, it you figure out the order of events, things make a lot more sense. As far as plotholes, I didn't spot any visible ones. You'd have to do a major amount of nitpicking.

I gave it a 9.5/10, but I round up when that's not available. So, it has a 10/10 for me.

To be honest, the final episode was slightly disappointing.
I liked the series overall, it had decent animation, effects and likable characters, but the last episode was too sudden- like the editors ran out of space and had to cram everything into two episodes.

I mean, the whole series, everything was chill (yes, even the HOMRA guys were pretty cool headed) and suddenly, that last episode...

*Spoilers*
DEATH BOMB.

First off, poor Anna, Kuroh and Neko. (Yes, I do ship Kuroh x Shiro) (Them feels QwQ)

Shiro's death itself was hard to follow O.o Had to watch it again to fully understand what the heck happened.

The ending made me bawl my eyes out and there were a bit too many plot holes for my taste (Though I hope they fix that in the second series ^^ though I don't know how they'll do that with Shiro dead :S)

But HEY, I actually liked this series from episode 1! (Kinda rare x3 Even Code Geass took me a good 3 episodes to get into :S). The art is seriously epic, especially the colors if you know what I mean :P

8.5/10 :P

Anyway, to the people comparing this to Guilty Crown... I'm not sure, because for my taste this anime was more 'cheerful' compared to Guilty Crown which had mecha and that kinda stuff. Not saying one is better than the other, though.

I disagree with you on everything. I don't see how this anime can get anywhere near a masterpiece rating. I understand personal high scores for an anime if the viewer loves the genre, or any number of other attributes, but I can not fathom how K can considered masterpiece quality.

Tell me this: How has K raised the bar in any category for anime? Do you think you'll still be comparing anime to K 10 years from now? Will you still watch K 10 years from now? Maybe your idea of a masterpiece is vastly different than mine, but at least tell me how you came to this deduction.

I won't speak for others, but I understand the story. Your notion that a person should read the associated manga or LN to enjoy an anime is ridiculous. I can agree that reading the related media can allow the viewer to enjoy the anime more, but the anime should have standalone entertainment value.

You can try to make the chaos theory argument, but that only works if the ending is jaw dropping, or the viewer has some abnormal emotional investment in Shiro/Weissman. However, anyone who didn't see those deaths a mile away just needs to watch more anime.
