Is it a blooper When kakaru says "My mom is working," when explaining why she wasnt at the race? I thought that he had told to group what about his mothers suicide.

He only told Naho (and maybe Suwa, not sure). He's simply lying.

Am I the only one who finds their faces actually fit?
The bad faces mostly come in the not really relevant scenes. IMO it makes the difference between the important scenes and non relevant ones more noticeable and so emphasize the important scenes.
Anyway, the episode was really nice,

Wow that was really powerful actually. Them holding the mat together definitely symbolized that everyone was there to share Kakeru's burden. Wow that was a nice metaphor. I'm glad they won together. Great feels

This is such a great story the fact that the quality of art is dipping makes me sad and mad. This was a good episode aside from some drawings. The umbrella scene was nice. Also the fact that he got jealous with Naho. Hopefully he stops worry about himself and becomes closer to her.

I know it is hard to make an anime but normally it looks better though o.o

Faces this week were especially terrible... it's like they run out of budget half way through the series :< Especially the far-away shots, pretty sure that every single one has some cross eyed character.

Also, look at this horrifying abomination:

What the fuck happened here lol.
Try playing spot the difference with this shit, you will have tons of fun I promise.

Plot twist: Azu's mother is actually an alien, just look at her reactions, all clearly faked to make us believe she's just a normal anime character. I'm sure she will kill Kakeru in the last ep.

No wonder Suwa's such a good guy. Look at his father: picked up and drove Kakeru's grandma all the way there. Like father, like son.

By making Kakeru jealous, Suwa's trying the best he can to push Kakeru's relationship with Naho to the next level. I hope it works.

The producers probably thought it was 2006 not 2016. Probably the animators did the outdated animation on purpose to 1) save money for the finale and 2) to bring us back memories on how anime used to look like a decade ago.

Naho is so dense. Nobody can be that dense. Even my supposedly "stupid" classmates and acquaintances got a hint when it was thrown at them. Sorry but acting stupid, clueless as if your head is filled with lead isn't cute or attractive. "I don't understand why Kakeru is happy when I greet him 'good morning' but isn't happy when other people greet him 'good morning!'" Seriously? Jesus Christ, woman.

Also, the animation from afar, looks horrible. Look at their faces when they're walking from afar towards the river bank.

I think it's good that they invited Kakeru's grandmamma. I think the guy is suffering from severe clinical depression and simply "cheering him up" wouldn't really work.
Many people in South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, etc. don't think depression is a real illness, they just tell people to "get over it."

Suwa acting smart this episode, so that Kakeru could realize that no matter what he says, he needs Naho deep inside his heart. Suwa's act will make Kakeru realize that.
And quality of animation went down this episode, that no ok bro!

So in the end Suwa actually managed to get him jelly (albeit in a way he hadn't forseen) when Naho was treating his wounds. I guess with that Kakeru will now think about Naho more. Still, their mutual interactions are very awkward and non natural, he's still far away from opening himself fully.

On the other hand Suwa and Naho have quite a chemistry going on, even now in this situation. I somehow doubt Naho and Kakeru starts dating each other as forcing yourself into relationship is never good thing.

But even if the episode itself was fine, the character anatomy and faces were horrendous this time. I guess their budget is very limited in this one.

I thought it was alright, stuff still happened and Kakeru's issues were still resolved. I don't know about you guys but i'm not shallow enough to let a couple of funny eyes on background npcs ruin an episode. Plot was a little shallow but I can expect more of Kakeru's regrets to show up.

Seriously, paranoia is your biggest enemy if you're going to pause every few seconds to complain about such pointless details.

On another note, Kakeru and Naho are too similar in personality to be a couple, they're too scared to embrace each other letalone talk about their feelings which is why Suwa really is the perfect match for Naho.

This and the last episode have started to ruin the show for me, why the hell did Naho and Kakeru's relationship return to being static after the mutual confession in episode 7?

This episode was boring and inconsequential, this show is stretching its plot too much.

The visuals are also deteriorating, characters appear off-model, along with extremely limited animation.

I was thinking the same thing. Seriously, she spent so much effort trying to save him, she told him she likes him, but she's happy not going out with him? Give me a break. I can't blame Kakeru for being frustrated, though his self-pity really doesn't help either. This show had so much potential, but the last two episodes have trended downwards. I hope things turn around soon.

I agree as well. Nothing happened after the confession and there's only few episodes left.
Well I still love the show, but this episode and way their relationship turned out to be is frustrating.

Usually I'm not the type of girl that nags about animation but..
What the hell happened to the animation in this show? At first I didn't notice anything strange at all, but during this episode the animation completely ruined a couple of scenes for me. It really annoys me. Hopefully it's a one time only thing.. but not sure at all.

Aside from that: why are so many Japanese anime characters so stupid when it comes to confessions and acting as a dating couple? Kakeru and Naho clearly confessed, but why not bother dating each other? They're 16 alright.. but for a human being it should be clear that they should just start to date lol.

Yup the quality of this episode definitely felt off. But anyways, ouuuuu Kakeru got jealous of Suwa by what he said. Progress indeed, making him realize his feelings for Naho. Also, for some reason, I get the impression that Kakeru might've been abused as a child. Idk, from what we've seen so far, his mom didn't seem like the nicest person.

It seems that many people around here were bothered by the quality of the drawings and animation. I must admit that I have completely ignored these aspects, but now that I read about them and even saw some visual examples, I realize that I noticed some of them as well during my watch. It was just that I didn't find them so serious as to distract me from the story. Besides, I think I've seen similar errors in other anime series too.

Moving on to the episodes events, the "we are in love, but we don't date" scenario sounds kind of familiar to me haha. I'll be blunt regarding this matter. Kakeru doesn't want to date Naho, not because he's considerate about her feelings; he just doesn't want to engage in a serious relationship! He is afraid of the responsibility involved! He claims he's worried not to hurt Naho's feelings, but not dating her, he's actually hurting her more. Naho is not the kind to take the initiative either. She's more of those girls/women who want the guy/man to make the first step. As they love each other, they obviously want to date; it's only natural! The problem is they are not simple people; they have a lot of scruples, each. That's probably also one of the reasons they need so much support from friends to foster their relationship. Speaking of which, the way everyone colludes to bring them together starts to damage the authenticity of their genuine feelings and becomes annoying! The episode with the umbrella, as it was described in Azu's letter, had a significantly more natural feel than what actually happened in this episode. The whole moment was ruined by their interventionism even if the objective was achieved. I think it was the first time when I wished that things happened like in the letter.

Now let's look at some other aspects that seemed awkward. Naho avoiding Kakeru's touch so violently that the umbrella was thrown away. It may appear strange to think that a girl who likes a guy would act like this. Well, it is not! In fact, Naho's gesture proves that she's deeply in love with Kakeru. When you have a strong crush for someone, you come to experience very powerful emotions and sensations. It can feel really scary! The intimacy with the one you love can bring you to a state similar to losing conscience or control over yourself. So, in order to avoid this overwhelming feeling you prefer to keep the distance even if that's painful too. What can I say? This is probably one of the reasons why love is considered complicated 😂. However, if we think about Kakeru's gesture of aggressively fending off Naho's endeavor to treat his bruises, I wouldn't say it's the same situation described earlier. Kakeru was gelous! After watching Naho treating Suwa's bruises, he just didn't wish to be treated in exactly the same way. It was like there was no difference between them! Besides, Kakeru was already tensed after the discussion he had with Suwa about Naho. He probably had mixed feelings too: the idea of losing her to Suwa scared him, but at the same time he was trying to convince himself that she was better off with Suwa. I personally, don't like such reasoning much. No one should decide for the other person. If the girl loves you, respect her feelings! If she chooses other guy over you it should be her call, not yours! Pushing her in your rival's arms won't make things easier for yourself! Instead you might hurt her too! I think the same applies in reverse; it doesn't matter if you're a girl/woman or a boy/man.

Sometimes I think that Kakeru tries to convince himself that if he's not doing anything, things will remain as before. Well, if he really thinks that than he's fooling himself (or at least he tries 😄)! He already loves Naho and Naho loves him back! There's no way changing this now! Problem is that at this stage, not doing anything is just as bad as doing something 😆.

Ok episode. The animation really took a dive in this one - so many faces that were off. I'm frustrated that it seems like Kakeru and Naho's relationship has stagnated again after the bit of progress they made. This is definitely losing my interest steadily.

It's nice that they all know that each one of them got letters and are working together to save Kakeru.

The umbrealla scene was nice.

Also feels like this episode had some fan-serivice too, didn't realise it until I read other posts, I used to think it's fan-service only when women are involved, guess shirtless dudes are fan-services for women xD.

Kakeru finally realizes that he actually does want to go out with Naho. I hope he asks her out again and this time Naho says yes.

Looking forward to next episode.
