That ending was hella bloody but seeing seeing Ikta calm down Yatori was really cute. =) Really though, Yatori's ability was hella shocking and beautiful at the same time.

Yatori is amazing.
Ikta is very smart, seems like a womanizer...I hope he don't end with Yatori.
The princess is in love with Ikta...

So the protagonists are on the "evil side" of the war? With how kind the enemy soldiers in ep 2 were and how these rebel they just kill seem to have just cause, and how annoying the princess is (I don't care if she dies) I can't sympathize with the characters anymore. Not to mention the genius tactic is so-so.
Dropped.
how are they on the evil side in this anime/LN the protagonist and antagonists there is no good side or evil side

I wish the guy finished choking the red haired annoying girl to death.it would have been an improvement on the story. I like the strategy part a lot though. Thanks for that. it was very nice.

Watching the dub. Alderamin's time period seems to be somewhere around the early 19th century, but Enlightenment theory hasn't seemed to settle in yet. The show internally favors theology over science, with Ikta serving as the champion of logic, reason, and the pursuit of worldly understanding. However, the show also makes extensive use of firearms and military tactics, which throws into question why knowledge is so undervalued when it's also important to the world's functions. Maybe only the parts of intellectual and philosophical endeavors that question authority and the church are suppressed?

There's a mix of time periods here, as well as the addition of magical elements. Not exactly sure what they're supposed to add to the overall anime, as the realistic parts are dominant and work well enough as is. The tactical parts of Alderamin's battle scenes are interesting, and the show doesn't hold back on the brutality of actual fights. I'm not entirely keen on the narration exalting Ikta's future accomplishments, as opposed to letting his actions speak for themselves over the course of the show.

The characters are all enrolled in a military academy, but I'm uncertain if they have the authority to partake in actual combat, much less kill.

I really liked this episode, and it showed how much of a genius Ikta is, and how promising his future career as a tactician will be! Also, he humiliated the brother of Torway, and Torway actually was the one to "kill" him, which was a great revenge for what his brother did to him.
That fighting scene with Yatori was so cool, she's so OP, and I love it. It's interesting to see that it wasn't easy for her to kill so many people at once though, and how close she was to dying, but it seems that with Ikta close to her, she could rest a bit at least. I'm still really curious about their past together, since it must have happened something in the past for them to be so close to each other.
Also, the princess has a big crush on Ikta it seems. And her reation at the end was really natural, especially for a 12 year old.
Really excited for what this anime has in store actually, this episode showed that there are soldiers that are against the regime of the nation, so let's see if that will continue in the future, and which side Ikta, Yatori and the others will join.
