| I haven't watched the oringal animation of H X H but all I see is bashing for the animation style in this thread. IMO Madhouse is doing a good job with the animation. As far as the episode goes nothing much happen but the introduction of some new characters, but overall I still liked it. |

| Quite a few changes here. Tonpa's true colors were revealed from the start and Hisoka's subtle entrance(and mysterious aura) is not so subtle. However, according to the fans, I gather this is staying more accurate to the manga. I can't judge the voices yet, as they've barely had time to shine. Hisoka's voice, although much more deeper than his predecessor, seems okay to me. |

Sorry, but the reason the original felt jarring to me was because I could tell without having read the Manga that there was filler involved and this is not the first time I've seen an Anime adaptation that has had filler that didn't fit with the original work it was based off of. To me, the original adaptation felt like there were two different writers who didn't always see eye to eye on things. Also, while it is true that Leorio does get more story time in the original adaptation, I also feel that he had some OoC moments, which goes back to the fact I could tell that there was filler involved easily. The Leorio content from the earlier episodes of HxH is pretty accurate to his character in HxH, there weren't any OoC moments for him in the few bits of anime only content. It is still funny how obvious and numerous you claim the changes were in the original. Personally I think "finding the anime only content" would make a great game for people who have not read the manga. I don't really believe your statements as they come off as just being parroted generalizations about anime with filler but don't cover anything specific to the original hxh series. Except you don't need the flashback to know that Gon decided to become a hunter to follow in his father's footsteps and follow him. Yeah you kinda do. As without the flashback it's not established that his father is alive and that Gon is looking for him. That is more to the point of why Gon wants to be a Hunter rather than following in his father's footsteps. The flashback sets up a little(just a little because it's beginning and the pacing was not designed to submerge the viewer/reader all things Hunter yet) more than your oversimplification. The flashback was in the first chap of the manga how is the flashback suddenly not important at this point in time? Let me guess, because it's the new anime and any excuse will do. |

Tonpa's way fatter, and #301 is a different color than in the original! The laxative thing was hilarious too! It was nice finding out about his douche bagginess up front. I actually like Killua's new voice actor. Sounds a little more naive, but it makes his character younger. Mr. Satotz voice isn't as cool, and I don't like how his mustache moves, and he didn't walk like a freak in the original! I'm super glad they are re-doing this show! So nostalgic! the guy didnt walk at all did he? didnt run while he was floating?? also the one thing i liked in the original is that they didnt show he was an @$$hole until later, when it really mattered. as for killiua's voice, i prefer the old one. like you said, the new one DOES make him sound younger but his personality in the 1st place was that he's much more mature than the rest. and the old voice matched up. |

| Not a fan of toning down the violence. Hisoka should be portrayed as being much more ruthless. Still enjoying it though. I'm in it for the long run. |

| loved the new characters, humor, and tactics! hisoka (joker?) looks cool as shit and will probably be a favourite. also that ninja was the funniest thing ever, i couldnt stop cracking up. gon is pretty funny too with his wild kid schtick. blonde haired main character is impressive as usual. little kid (looks like yu-gi-oh kiba's younger brother) looks interesting. all the characters were just fun and im excited to see them in action. phase one looks awesome. im so excited for this series! |
| Damn that guy's arms just went poof, the clown is pretty frightening. This reminds me of the Chuunin exam a bit and I'm getting a Shaman King vibe from the diversity in all of the exam participants. Splendid series so far. |

| I am never going to be able to get over how much more improved this version of Hxh is in regards to animation. Its just spectacular. So now Kilua and and the genius psychopath Hisoka make there grand entrance. It is nice to know that the pacing has returned to normal this time around. This being the third episode, i believe it was around episode 6 when these events took place in the original series. It is has been a very long time since i saw the original series but i clearly still remember this arc so well. It was absolutely one of my favorite moments watching this and to see it totally reinvisioned and following the manga more closely this time around, OH MAN. I just can't wait! SO the trixter tompa is at his old schemes and the first phase of the exam begins. I also noticed that they included a bit more development behind tompa and his strategy of using his tricks to try and deceive the others which originally was cut from the first series. |

| I had a feeling something is wrong with Tonpa and my suspicion turned into surety when he took out those orange juices. I thought Kurapika might figure out but it was Gon who pointed it out first. Well, Kurapika realized it anyways. Whoa there. Killua smells badass. The first test seems interesting. I still don't know how to feel about the ED song. Part of it is really good and then there are those freaky screams in it which turn me off. This episode was even better 7.5/10 |
