Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms
Oh my god, this might just be the first trashy anime of the year.
We've got an insuffera ble main character named Mona Kawaii, who's desperately trying to charm a guy who's completely unfazed by her antics- Medaka Kuroiwa. The dumbest part? Medaka is training to become a monk, and that's why he's forcing himself not to fall for her seductive attempts.
This low-effort romance had me cringing the entire episode. Mona is trying everything to win him over-flashing her panties, showing off her bra, even flaunting her boobs. The plot is so silly because not only is Medaka completely resistant to her charms, but she's also starting to fal for him instead.

Welp, compared to "I Have A Crush At Work" which is a very cute and realistic adult romcom and "I'm Getting Married To A Girl I Hate In My Class" which is a very funny and messy romcom in the best way possible, this one is definitely not up to par and more on the sloppy side imo. The comedy definitely doesn't hit as hard bcs it resorted to the bottom of the barrel lewd teases right from the get go, but at least outside of those moments it does still made me chuckle a few times. Nothing's wrong with lewd jokes btw, it can definitely work as a comedy, but for this one... meh. The characters also kinda bugged me a bit, with Mona being an absolute narcissist and Medaka dropping his gigachad aura way too fast. With all that said, since I like romcoms in general, I will still watch a few more eps to give this show a chance, but with the other 2 romcoms' better premieres, I doubt this one will stay longterm on my watchlist 🤔 (I hope I can be proven wrong).

Anyway everyone here should also try to watch those 2 other romcoms this season!

Caught up to the manga of all 3 of them and yea, you're right. This one is really inferior to the other 2 with I Have A Crush At Work being the best out of the 3.

The first episode is a fun and lighthearted start with plenty of laughs, but it doesn’t stray far from the typical rom-com formula. While the dynamic between Medaka and the charming heroine is amusing, it’ll need more depth to stand out in a crowded genre.

If you enjoy school-based romantic comedies with quirky character interactions, it’s worth checking out—just don’t expect anything groundbreaking from the get-go.

I may be one the few that also enjoyed this first episode as I found Mona's attempts to get Medaka's attention hilarious. While Medaka explained to the 2 classmates why he isn't supposed to get close to girls, because he's heir to a cat temple, I still didn't understand why it isn't allowed. I'm guessing he can't date or marry and have a family because him being an heir may give him a title similar to a priest or monk, but regardless of the reason hopefully it will be further explained down the road and I wonder what Mona will do if she finds out...

I doubt Mona will ever find out—at least not until the manga is nearing its end—because that revelation would likely flatten the story's momentum.

The scene with the three boys on the swing was unexpected. At first, I thought the MC had ignored them and walked away, only to realize he actually took the time to explain the situation to them. It was a subtle yet impactful moment. I'm definitely looking forward to more episodes!

Yeah I agree, hopefully Mona won't find out until much later because it's entertaining watching her trying to get his attention. However, even if she found out soon she may still try to get with him since she might get a thrill out of having him break a rule or something.

another romance anime that the main premise depends on not having development on the romance ^^' ... don't know if I dig that

anyways... the girl is cute, so I'm staying for the fanservice scenes
