Yes there’s a few in my opinion. I don’t think its a very fair comparison really considering the different mediums. You just can’t compare with 600,000 words. That being said berserk punches well above its weight for a manga.

Sure, any piece of literature considered classic. I recommend Fyodor Dostoevsky or Jane Austen's works, but you can surely find a story fitting your taste in setting, pivotal themes and general concept.

As for general themes and the world of manga, I believe Devilman by Go Nagai handles most, if not all themes presented in Berserk way better. It shouldn't be anything surprising. Berserk was inspired by Devilman (among other things), after all.
