| Mew vs Nidoking caught me off guard :D Pretty damn good start. Was nice to see things from the pov of the pokemon and it was just really wholesome. |

| really nice prequel here and "how we inserted this new character in ash's history without ever meet him". wanted little more of how pikachu came into prof. oak hands. |
| really a surprise for me, thought we won't be seeing ash but we still have him and also got to see pikachu's past. the art style is also good, seems a mix of xy and sm and the series seems like a continuation of sm which is very much appreciated but can't we get ash to grow up like at least a year old? i also hope that we can see z-moves and mega evolutions. |

| Ko-Satoshi. Hanako. Okido's camp? A Pichu. Pichu is attacked by Arbo. Pichu shocks it. Pichu got blasted by Dogars. Pichu falls and is caught by Garura. Garura takes Pichu with them. Several weeks later. Good start. The ED is ok. Already better than Sun & Moon. The designs look better than S&M, but still worse than XY. Still has that goofy look. Just looking at Satoshi and Okido's face says it all. They still got Satoshi looking lame rather than cool like in XY. Go is dressed better than Satoshi. How is that possible? Seeing Pikachu's origin after 22 years. Why did they choose now to do it? We all know it wasn't like that in 1997 since Pichu did not exist. At least they made Pikachu look somewhat chubby when Satoshi him. You know they tried to avoid showing Pikachu in full to avoid a retcon. Well, we know what Satoshi went through all these years. I guess Go was in school this whole time. lol Unfortunate that Unsho Ishizuka didn't voice Okido in this episode. With that said... HanaKana is back in PM. |

| I really don't like Koharu/Chloe. It's very rare that I don't like a female character just for being rude, but it irks me the way she stomps all over Goh's enthusiasm. She makes a big fuss out of it being the Professor's job to teach them about Pokemon, but it's pretty hypocritical given that it's also the Professor's job to put kids in their place when they're out of line, not hers. The Professor does seem a little flustered by Goh's boisterous behavior, but appreciates his enthusiasm and isn't telling him to quiet down, so he's fine. As someone who has lots of experience with groups of kids, you see this a lot in real life, actually. Bossy kids dunking on kids who show a lot of enthusiasm but aren't actually hurting anyone or causing trouble, and they take it upon themselves to try and punish those kids like they think the adults would. It's my least favorite kind of kid to deal with because they really seem to think their judgment and authority is on the level of an adult's when it's not. Right off the bat she displays one of my biggest pet peeves in people, so I don't think I'm gonna like her too much. That said, the Pichu/Kangaskhan storyline was absolutely adorable. I had such a huge smile on my face the whole time. So precious. |

| "Oh man, a Caterpie" - said no-one ever seeing a Squirtle at the same time x) Nidoking vs Mew was kinda unexpected. Was fun seeing Pikachu's origin as Pichu. Character design and art style looks great and a big change from Sun & Moon, kinda similar to XY/Z which I can appreciate. Goh and Chloe seem alright so far, not much to go from just this first episode. |
