Just read the interview with Yagi. It seems that he's done with Claymore as we know it. And I found it interesting that he had not planned the "world" out in advance but rather went building as he went along.

Good interview and the format was funny.

Some interesting points from the mindset of Yagi and his thought process when making Claymore (or any manga).

- Like mention before he didn't plan out the world of Claymore too much in advance. Despite as important as most readers thought the outer continent was it was not that important to Yagi. The main focus of Claymore was the warriors themselves. "I prioritized telling the tales of the warriors over world concept and setting."

- His thoughts on how a protagonist doesn't have to be involved with everything in the world was nice, puts the way Claymore ended in better perspective from his POV and combined with the above I understand why he ended the way he did better now.

- He seems well aware of the lack of background art details.

- Not really directly related to anything but I always find it interesting how much influence older series like Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) inspire manga artists like Yagi and such growing up.

Really enjoyed most of this manga, especially before the time skip. But some parts dragged on way too much. 8/10

And was there ever an explanation for Riful 2.0, or was that just left in the dark?

Perfect ending to the long story, I never hoped that it'd be so peaceful. It's what Clare really deserves, and Irene being alive as well was just over the top.

I read the whole thing during the last few days and I have to say that I was disappointed. Early on, this was pretty much the best manga I had ever read - The arcs were short and the pace was fast. The characters were great and there was a ton of mystery surrounding them, from Rifel's motives to the conspiracy of Pieta or the existence of male Awakeneds or perhaps the best moment of them all, priscilla's awakening and Teresa's death. The reveals were great and plentiful. All the arcs before the timeskip were absolutely incredible, from the characters to the events to the strategies used.

After the timeskip, it was okay for some time as well but then the exploration and mysteries and interesting characters just stopped or it became difficult to care for the characters. The downfall probably begun around when they introduced the zombies - the most boring enemy imaginable that accomplished nothing but got rid of some of the best characters. The removal of all the best characters combined with Priscella's OPness that made all the fights feel meh. A common theme was that we were teased by amazing possibilities but what actually happened was absurdly meh. Giant reveals like the mainland that were not followed through on. Teresa at the end felt absurdly asspull even though she is my favorite character. Pacing really was awful overall near the end as well - instead of amazing 7 chapter, content packed arcs like before, the arcs were super dragged out and I often found mysrlf skipping through the fights when they always were so interesting before.

The thing that probably bothers me the most though is the Claymore weapon reveal that gave a mysterious scifi feel, but that was not ever even mentioned again. Overall, great promises and potential that were sadly followed through very disappointingly.

Ehh, I liked the ending for the most part and it didn't bother me that things got dragged out. I'd stop reading and wait for a good bit of material would come out and then I'd pick it up again.

Some things could definitely have been better but imo it would've been such a horrible idea for the manga to touch up on the mainland/claymore weapon idea again. That'd have to come from a sequel.

As it stands now the characters have no reason to leave their island and part of the more "meh" moments for me felt like they were a little too forced and having to include that in the manga would just be too much.

I liked the ending, I don't care about the kiss or romantic stuff. At least Claire and Raki were finally together, that is all that matters to me.
I enjoyed the series overall although there were some cheesy moments. Yagi's character design doesn't have so much variety though.

Happy ending I was hoping for. Touching reunion with Clair and Teresa, doesn't make much sense though. I noticed a few unanswered questions like how long the claymores lifespan is and how Irene managed to survive. Also I wished we had a better ending scene with Raki + Clair. This was a good read though 7/10.

ii have finaly read the 27th tome of claymore.

I'm a bit sad because the final scene ruined the character of claire ( and in fact every claymore ) to me:

In the end , priscillia wasn't beaten by current claymore but by a hero from the past ,without this " Deus ex machina " transformation everybody ( possibly even in the continent ? ) would have been exterminated by priscillia.
It's pure fan service and doesn't suit the whole series well to me.

I agree that the series goes downhill after the time leap, the enemie were too powerfull and the few last fights ( not only the one with cassandra priscillia and co ) was like watching misshapen mess fighting each other without real strategies and not wiith real sense of damage.

In the end it's still a great manga for a single reason : It's unique.
It's the perfect mix of a seinen and a shonen , simple, yet deep , story driven by the characters that make it enjoyable by every type of reader ( younger and older )

Thank you Norihiro Yagi for all these years of work on what can be considers one of the masterpiece of manga's Dark Fantasy .

nb : It's very unlikely that he do a series again ( he said himself that he is out of idea )

I finished Claymore today after some months of reading and I have to say that I had a lot of enjoyment overall. But I had mixed feelings once I finished it. I'm a bit sad. I have so much I would like to say although I will not go very deep and will be a bit messy.
This series had a lot of great moments, great twists, great characters and development, great mysteries and also great fights. But also some of the chapters towards the mid-end -around ch. 116 when the 3 old nº1's are ressurrected by the Org.- were very slow and kind of boring. I thought this part was expendable and it lasted for too long... The several battles against Priscilla was dragged for too long too and wasn't expecting to see Theresa back. Her apparition was well executed though.

Many ppl say the series goes downhill after Pieta's battle, I can understand that it has some moments like that, because let's be honest the first 11 and a half volumes were insanely great. Everything that happened was pure gold, the tension was palpable and everyone could die.
Then the next volumes still has great moments I enjoyed a lot: like the reveal of the Claymore's alive and the subsequent Ghost crew & their journey on the shadow, Clare's progressing & skills, the discovering of the island and the main land (with 2 nations in war), the Organization secrets, Miria's battle alone against the Org., her return from death and all Claymore's joining forces to destroy the Org., Galatea's surviving after Pieta, Raki's appearance, good moments of 'ol Rubel, Clare and Raki's meeting after 7 years and I could keep going.
But I also was highly dissapointed to see that the main land discover was just honey on the lips. It had so much potential... I was very excited when Miria revealed that. I feel bad it somehow didn't take that route and went with the ressurrected #1's instead. Priscilla fighting and in AO's mode through volumes 18-27 also lasted very long imo. We saw so much from her power that the final fight didn't feel so tense, it was rather obvious the destiny of it with Theresa's emergence.
I also didn't like that there were so many new Claymore's introduced, Clarice and Miata's journey and to see Isley's potential in the story to be vanished so soon. Seeing him falling was a touching moment, even when we didn't get to see him much, he was my fav. abyssal out of the 3. But I still like when I saw him after the 7 years lapse, how he was insane in that place alone, his fighting and his last words.
About the abyss feeders? Well, I don't dislike that Yagi introduced them as some ppl do (although they relegated the AO's), I hate way more the 3 ressurrected nº1's part as I said before. They also added a dark and devastating atmosphere I really liked when they first appeared.
Alicia and Beth potential was a bit wasted too, I thought they would give more game. Seeing Riful's reeincarnation or whatever that was against Priscilla didn't make too much sense. All in all, I thought the 3 AO's (Isley, Luciela and Riful) would have much more protagonism. They were isolated too soon, specially the first 2. I wish we knew more about Isley and his journey with Raki.
And after Pieta it definitely lost part of the tension for main characters to possibly die. They were too protected at the end. I wished we would of see Denev/Helen, Yuma, Cynthia and maybe even Miria die in a big battle even if it would be sad. Seeing that they all survive makes Tabitha's death a waste.

About the last chapter it tied all Claymore's fate quite well, Teresa's final inner dialogue with Clare was great and touching, we even discovered Irene was alive (didn''t care too much though, at least not to be for the last 2 pages) and I'm kind of dissapointed we didn't saw Clare and Raki in a more close moment although we can foreshadow it. I would say that the last page could of been better if it was when Clare smiles to Raki and says him to follow her and live the life? Idk as I said the end page of the manga with Clare visiting Irene left me a bit cold.

I feel kind of empty now. I got to Claymore thanks to reading over here someone comparing it with SNK (which I also love), so after some time I finally gave the anime a try. And I'm so happy I did. I enjoyed it a lot (finished in August 2015), although the last 3 episodes were not so good. But this series had something special so I needed to buy the manga to know how it continued. And I don't regret reading/buying it. All these months reading has been a great experience. And will definitely keep listening to the great OST. :' -) I'm still unsure on what rating I should give to Claymore, it will either be an 8 or 9. I wish I could give it a 10 but some of the later events will not allow it.
I will re-read it again someday to catch anything that could have escaped from me. At least I still have Berserk on-going and to a less extent SNK.

All in all, if someone wants to talk about Claymore you can hit me in my profile or add to friends. I will gladly get you back. ^^

I was playing Shoukei from the Claymore ost during the part where Clare and Teresa said their goodbyes. It was perfect! That moment when Clare reverted to her child form while hugging Teresa especially got me the most. Incredibly heartwarming and hilarious when everyone started patting Clare on the head when she came to.

Finally over huh? This is the first time I've ever been compelled to marathon right through a manga after finishing its anime counterpart. Like I said with the anime, this world just drew me in and by the time I had switched over to the manga, I was too engrossed by what had been unfolding to let up. I was completely swept up by its momentum and couldn't save any until later. I loved every bit of it and feel entirely satisfied with how it all played out.

If I had to describe Claymore in one word, I'd say sisterhood. That's how deep the bonds between these characters ran (well barring Raki). This was the strongest foundation in driving these warriors to battle. Whether it was against yoma, awakened beings, Priscilla, and even the Organization itself, they were all sworn together by the swords they carried on their backs. The way in which they scaled up through the ranks of the yoma was splendid as well, particularly the first reveal of awakened beings. It felt as though a tiny door had opened and before me stood a towering gate that reached into the heavens.

And once again, I really love how they brought back the concept of the twin goddesses at the end with Teresa/Clare's awakening. Truly the embodiment of that sisterhood I mentioned before.

9.5/10, definitely favorited (although that's not so hard considering how few manga I've read).

So, I finally gave this a shot after having seen the anime almost 10 years ago and I must say that I am satisfied with what I got.

Most of that satisfaction stems from the fact that Miura-sama takes fucking decades to finish up Berserk and I really needed something which was like that. Claymore actually delivers on that front. I'd say it is a poor mans version of Berserk. I really missed gore/blood in Claymore.

If it weren't for the timeskip and what happend from that point onward I'd give it a solid 8, but as it is I gave it an 7.
Surely, a lot of wasted potential, but still enjoyable until the end.

This is the ending i wished for, seeing teresa again literally made me cry in happiness. I don't get why some people have problem with the ending. If the author decided to continue after the final battle it would have taken another 5-6 years. It ended perfectly. The second half of the manga did drag the story a little but the ending makes up for it. Overall -10/10.

These were my only two gripes really. The pacing was better before the timeskip, and honestly was still good for a little while after until the Destroyer showed up and absorbed Clare. The zombies should not have been there, and Isley definitely should have had a more badass death. I actually liked Teresa's faux-return though, and still very much enjoyed the final stretch with the resurrected former #1s. Overall, I'd give the first half of this manga a 10, and the second half an 8. So 9/10 overall from me.

I just finished the entire anime adaptation and continued on from the manga within 4 days.

The biggest aching gripe I have is the relationship between Clare and Raki. The ending would have satisfied me if there was some sort of confession of their love to each other. But from the "underage" kissing scene after running away from Ophelia to the end where Clare says "we will live it (their lives) together" and they just walk to Irene's house. To me, their relationship is very confusing. Are they just very close friends? Does Clare see Raki as someone she is protecting as how Teresa did to her? Or are they really in a relationship?

I guess this will never be answered.

It was bad.
First half of the manga was amazing, I was so thrilled, second half was pure trainwreck.
That last arc was the worst of all. Disappointed by how the author shat on his work.
Power-ups, asspulls, unnecessary subplots, unnecessary dialogues, poorly written characters (hi isley), deus ex machinas (that Riful 2.0 and Theresa), lack of plot depth and Claire was boring till the end.
If you think about it, Shingeki no Kyojin is a revamped Claymore, without all the crap that we got past 11th volume.
I am angry, it's even worse than how Naruto ended.

I like the ending, and everything is explained and done well, for 155 chapters only once I see Clare blushed and it's cathes my inner heart

But, is it only me who thought that Dragon's Kin part not enough?

I mean, I really want to know what happen on that Dragon's Kin?

We all know that the Organization researched for Awakened Being to be able to beat that Dragon's Kin. Priscilla dead, and the remains claymores attempt to pursue and kill all of the remaining yoma and awakened being but again, what happen to that dragon's kin thing?

I think this series kinda need sequel where Claymores and Dragon's Kin clashes, at least some 5 or 10 volume manga, since the "Dragon's Kin" part itself need to be described more

But, those are just my opinion though

Great manga overall, but the last arc was underwhelming. Random new forms, twists etc. which simply don't have the same impact when they're done half assed and after so many chapters.

6,5/10 Still gonna give it a 7 because it was a fantastic read at the beginning and had a cute ending.

Realy good manga, I wish they showed us more of the "after-story". And I wish there was a chapter focused only on Raki and Clair to show their relationship better. Like "a calm nigth before the battle" Because it's was for me the worst point of the ending, the... lack of depth?

much better than the animes ending, wouldve been awesome if the anime ended right after pieta rather than going down that route. IIRC they couldve made that decision together while the author was still continuing.

i had a gut feeling from the start that teresa was prolly coming back to life since everyone glorified her many times, often saying she was the bestest of the best. that gut feeling intensified when they brought back the other numabawns. cassandras awakened form was sad though, they shouldve done it better. it was pretty awesome how clare awakened as teresa, then double awakened as an angel but pretty much still humane.

the ending was ok i guess, i wouldve hoped the remaining claymores declared peace with the youmas since there were greater threats abroad, but that never got anywhere else. priscilla was way too OP, prolly ran out of ideas as to how pris can actually be numbawan. and finally rafaelas secret that she had to tell clare was that irene was still alive, kind of a letdown IMHO. dont know why she never showed up, but a numbatoo shouldve been able to sense the world was ending i guess.

wouldve been more awesome (in my taste) if they added more comedy from time to time. helen wasnt funny enough and the 1st funny moment i had was galatea and clares reunion IIRC...

also forgot to mention, a ton of others got inspiration (CMIIW) from here O.O
