He refers to race/specific qualities of entities. Perhaps one of the Index kind so to clone Index so that they can use armies of them against enemies since each of them can have 103 000 volumes of forbidden magic.

INDEX=ULTIMATE WEAPON if cloned!

LoL. Did anyone else notice that Touma was running at full speed across that apartment towards Index for like 5 minutes?... They could have at least made it look like he was struggling against some wall of pressure or something, but instead it just ended up looking really, really stupid. Oh well. At least the story is starting to become more interesting.

Yeah that part kind of bothered me. I guess dragon's breath causes a regular sized apartment to turn into a city block.

I have to admit that I didn't care for this episode that much. I don't know what you're smoking angel999, but the manga's version was better for this episode. The only reason the anime one could possibly be considered good is because it had colour and flashiness. Touma's self-sacrifice in the manga was beautiful, and HIS reading of the letter, not Index's, means that much more than just having the doctor repeat every word that the magicians told him. Bah.

This is quickly becoming yet another mediocre series.

Wow, this was such an amazing episode (save for Touma running towards Index for a full 5 minutes in a small apartment).

I already loved the science vs. magic idea this anime has going on. But now they are throwing in vampires!? All of this has the potential to be very good. I just hope the anime pulls it off correctly. Given how these first 6 episodes have gone (besides the pacing), I have faith that it will be done correctly.

Oh, and the scene with Touma and Index having their conversation in the hospital room really surprised me. I totally believed that he forgot his memories, but then I totally believed he had all his memories from his explanation. And to find out in the end that he really lost it really caught me off guard. I haven't been that mis-led in an anime for a long time. Good stuff.

This series is definitely one of the more exciting series I look towards every week. Haven't read the manga, but I want to be surprised in an anime for once. So i'll probably hold off reading until someone informs me that anime is deviating from the manga a lot.

Awesome episode but I don't get it if Touma still has his memory or not, it's abit confusing. ><

From my point of view:
Touma 'acted' like he knew Index but in reality he didn't right?

I figure Touma is still Touma, even when a few brain cells are missing. Though, given the point of contact of that feather, it landed somewhere between the parietal lobe and the temporal lobe, so some memory lost is to be expected. Since personality is mainly in the frontal lobe, his desire to still be that caring mushy guy is still there.

I don't expect him to walk anytime soon without some physical therapy though. But an anime is an anime.

Better question is, how many brain cells got fried, and how far back can he not remember? How much of that stuff in the beginning was a "play" and how much of it was real? I mean, we can assume that everything he said to piss her off was a play, but when he said he couldn't remember her, his name, etc. was that a part of it too?

Pretty much. I haven't read the manga, but I really wish Touma had read the letter on his own. Something about him doing that just seemed a bit... lame, and uninspiring. I dunno. Exactly how many of his memories did Touma lose? All of them? Does he still remember his friends? Komoe? Lightning girl who outside of like two cameos hasn't made an appearance since episode one? Hell, if all his memories were nuked, how'd he even be able to speak or walk?

And what's the deal with the tube-dude and Stiyl? I'mma have to rewatch that scene again, but is the church working both the magic and the science sides or somethin? The entire end of the episode seemed unnecessary for this one. I would have much rather had Touma struggle to reach Index, have it take a few more minutes and have his sacrifice mean that much more, but what can ya do?

All I know is after this episode, I wish I had an apartment the size of Komoe's. It feels like someone just Bel Air'd or Rickrolled me in anime form. So confused, my heart weeps for Touma and Index, and I finally thought Stiyl and Kaori were going to be awesome for more than thirty seconds. Apparently not.

Also, with an ability like the Imagine Breaker, why the hell is Touma only a Level 0? I mean, that's a pretty ridiculous thing there. Does it evolve? Anything special? Or does it just continue to negate everything? I mean, he's far more powerful than his level leads on. And Stiyl is going to team up with him? (Insert Lines of Spam and Confusion Here)

Yeah, it's still kind of slow, except for the few minutes of action in the beginning. Are we out of the very long prologue now?

Touma being a level 0 confuses me also, I'm guessing they will powerup him in the future.

first i must say...nice fight :D...but it was a bit flashy :D...
Finally progue is ending? :D....from preview we will finally see new characters :P....(the girl in kimono is probably deep blood :P)
I think that Deep Blood is some sort of blood that not so much of humans have...it is rare and that vampires like that blood :D...so if blood exist vampires exist too...lol (the girl in kimono is probably deep blood :P) :D....then if imagine breaker exist that means the God or Angels exist? :P....
It is little sad that Touma lost his memories but he kept his personality...i hope so :D....
Btw am i the only one who thinks that that guy in the tube Aleister? (Crowley? vampire? :D) is the big bad final boss? :D...

ditto. i was like "i knew it!" when touma claimed he didnt lose his memories since he has his imagine breaker, but then i was kinda suspicious why he just overlooked the fact that index said she loved him. and then bam. he was just kidding..again.

Hm, good call on that. I didn't even notice that. Nice eyes. Or ears, rather.

And yeah, I completely forgot to note the Deep Blood thing. Adding vampires into this mix is a little odd. I think I'mma start reading the manga. Maybe it'll help me make sense of things. :(

This series is getting increasingly dissapointing. I liked it very much in the beginning, but after 6 episodes, it's so slow, almost nothing important has happened since the introduction, and the characters are fantasticaly talkative, a feat that I tend not to enjoy... particularly when they explain nothing and they seem to let incomprehensible words out of their mouths. More than that, the direction is really average (yep, but the animation is great I know) and the pacing is seriously wrong, not counting that the big cast that was introduced in the beginning is playing a very little role and only 5 characters are somewhat important for now (and only one is focusing all the attention really). Pretty strange, I hope JC Staff will get their facts straight and improve in the near future, I kinda like this series and wouldn't want to drop it, but I'm very close to it now...

Wow so much talking on this! Great! The vampire thing is nice cause vampire are supernatural yet SCIENCE has always studied them and wanted to reproduce their powers or kinds infused into someone who is not born with that power.

Deep blood could also be PURE BLOODS which would mean that the kimono girl is a original vampire.

YEAH NEW ARC IN #7! Sadly I think it might be the last one unless they make THIRD arc that exceed the manga! YEAH! :D That would be cool!

lol, totally. i was wondering how it could take him so long to run 10 feet across the room. Instead, it was like he was running a marathon.

I really wanna like this series, but I'm really disappointed at how "talky" it is. Even during the big fight scene between Index and Touma, more than half the time was Touma lecturing Stiyl and Kanzaki about saving Index the "right" way.

I love the animation and the designs, but they really gotta pick the story and action up.

I will say I was surprised that Touma lost his memory. It does make things more interesting. It's funny, when they first showed him with no memory, I thought it was a ballsy turn of events. Then when he faked having his memory to Index, I thought it was a cheap cop-out. But after the surprise reveal to the doctor, now I feel sorta melancholy. Poor Index.

Touma srsly trolled me.
the fight was pretty cool, not as good of a fight as i expected from J.C Staff, but i liked it.
i am glad kanzaki and styil were on touma's side this time. i love hearing "innocentius" xD
although i did not like the video lag, i need a better pc....
well, a feather can really be fatal....
i loved it when index just shreded that letter xD
and then... touma just completely trolled me... i thought he didn't have memories, then i thought he did have memories and was just trolling index, but then he trolled index without she knowing,..... D=
poor guy, but as far as i know in anime, he will either regain his memories, or just keep being a nice guy and help index..... so index loved touma...... finally some romance? nah
the next part with styil was interesting. so now we have imagine breakers, espers, magicians, and vampiers, and the other guys called deep blood or something like that.... and alchemists i guess, i wonder what will happen next.
the "brain" of the city looked.... a little like index..... but meh what the hell, i am just deducing.... i wonder what his/her role is.
so styil and touma will be partners...... interesting.
index seems to be using magic next episode... yay?
but the other girl will be introduced... also, what happened to that other girl that appeared in the 1st episode... that shocker girl? is she going to be a main sometime soon? :P

aw man, they changed the scenario a bit

what's suppose to happen was:
right after Index was defeated, Kamijo had to catch all the feathers with his right hand to protect index (dragon's breath). However, he missed one. Just when it's about the hit index, Touma blocked it with his head, which caused him to lose memory

I say this the anime scenario ain't bad, but Touma's GARness was cut in half

Touma's memory loss scene with Index was absolutely beautiful, and he just has to go ruin it, that jerk...
And then immediately afterward admits that he actually did lose his memory, so I get hit with it twice, that jerk~!

Chime in with the other about not caring for the endless running, but it didn't bother me too much.

Very much liked how the memory loss scene played out. I had suspicions based on where the feather hit that he was going to lose his memory that grew stronger with every moment, so finding out he had indeed was a rather disappointing duh moment. Then wham bam they completely got me with both turnarounds and killed any claim of predictability.

See, now that makes sense. I'm watching the scene and going why are you ignoring the death feathers? Why are you just sitting there while all these death feathers fall toward you? Come on, do something! *collision* At least they acknowledged them...

I'm still enjoying this as a simple, easy to watch action series with just a smidgen of depth for flavor, but the comments are inclining me to check out the manga at some point.

From the looks of the OP it seems like he forgot everyone. It also seems he was only told what happened to him so it would make sense that he wouldn't remember anyone else.

So basically now we have 4 groups 3 of which we know
The Church (ie. Magicians and possibly Alchemists)
Technology (ie. ESPers)
Deep blood (ie. Blood Vampires like. If it exists then Vampires also exist.)
Touma 's Image braker (Unknown, possibly decedents of god sent to keep all the other groups in order?)

I think it's more likely that the production staff thought it was hilarious too, but didn't see any reasonable way to change it. Can't you feel that gleeful sarcasm?

i like that, a descendant of god to keep the balance. which would explain why he has no attacking power, but rather a negating one. tho i was wondering that maybe now that he lost his memory or was hit by something of magic and it stays in his system that he may be able to do something with his left hand be it an esper or magician ability.

Then there is blood spurting out of his hand and then in the next second his hand is perfectly fine. She said 'touma no koto ga daisuki dattan dayo'. While suki may mean love in some situations but it usually means like. So Index is just saying she really likes touma, that's all
