What's the worst shoujo anime you've ever seen? How about the worst shoujo manga you've read? (perhaps to serve as a warning to others not to watch/read those) The worst shoujo anime I've seen so far is Kaleido Star. It was just so incredibly boring >_> The worst manga I've read is... anything by Mayu Shinjou, really. I don't know why people love her work so much. The stories are ludicrous and her art is just plain bad (everyone looks like they're squinting all the time XD) |

I haven't really seen one so bad I want to puke yet but about that person's art. Maybe you don't like it and others may, it's just a matter of taste. |

Peach Girl and Full Moon (I hated the fillers, Mitsuki was annoying, most of the episodes felt like a waste of time, I'm trying the manga now though since I heard it was better). Yeah!! Mistuki is like, too naive and weird. Searching for a guy that she already knew was dead? weird! And I don't really like Nadeshiko Club(I didn't even bother adding it on here). The art is bad and the story is totally boring! I only bothered looking at it because it was reverse harem. |

For me as far as manga I've read, I'd have to go with Hot Gimmick. I only read the first volume, but I just didn't really like where the plot seemed to be heading with the main character being black mailed into being her neighbors slave. I really liked the art style of the covers though, which is why I decided to read the manga in the first place. |

She wanted eichi to hear here, he was looking down on her from heaven and before he left he told her to follow her dream. the manga is better with fewer fillers. anyway the shoujo I can't stand is Mamotte! Lollipop, Absolute Boyfriend and oh dear god Tail of the Moon sucks EPICALLY. |

A Wise Man Sleeps and Love Master A are one of the most boring shoujo manga, IMO. I didn't like I.O.N by Arina Tanemura much either. |

Story was so-so, but characters... OMG... just wanna kill them all. |

The worst shoujo anime is by far Piano. It's just so painfully boring. Worst manga is a little harder for me since My lowest scores are all pretty much painfully boring/cliche oneshots. (including titles like: Neverending Heart, Sold Out!, Call me Princess) But i guess some of the worst shoujo i've read that aren't oneshots or one volume would have to be Othello and Mint na Bokura. |

I usually forget the shojo I really dislike because if it's THAT trite or the artwork is bad I stop reading it buuut... I take issue with Hot Gimmick, because it fooled me. I was confused about who was the love interest and I thought the ending had a horrible message. Also, I am sick of gender benders. If I read YET ANOTHER synopsis beginning "She thought she could have the life of a normal high school girl, unnnntiiil her father/uncle/grandfather/obsession with a man sent her to the local all boys school!!! What will happen next???" I swear I've read that story a billion times. Another one I thought was bad was Absolute Boyfriend. Same with chobits... The robot lover motif is gross. |

I feel the same way, the characters in Hot Gimmick just made me weep. I really like the magaka's art through, but I can't read any more, Hatsumi is far too annoying. As for anime, Tokyo Mew Mew, too much filler and Ichigo's voice is horrible!! The manga is better (the two volumes that I've read of it) edit: Oh and Ichigo's infatuation with Aoyama is also quite annoying, I hope the manga doesn't portray her infatuation in an equally annoying way.... |

Well I don't really hate any of them since everyone has different taste and views like Full Moon . Well in the anime she didn't know he was dead so it's reasonable. As for being naive lol aren't tons of main characters that way thats the point I think but I do agree she got on my nerves though at times lol Anyways back to what I was saying the worst I've seen in my opinion. Magic Knight Rayeearth - I never even finished seeing the whole opening lol (edit 2022 I watched the entire series and read the manga but it still one I highly enjoyed)The plot from what I read didn't even seem appealing Revolutionary Utenia- Ok I don't know if this falls under yuri or shojo but if it does I didn't find it interesting much, and the reason wasn't because it was yuri but the plot as well. PowerPuff Girls Z- Ok I was a fan of the original so I hated really how they treated the anime. I understand a bit of changes but making them so less powerful that they attacked with yoyo's O_o Cutie Honey- Never interested me despite trying to watch it Thats all lol so far I really don't watch anime that doesn't interest me from the plotlines that I read |

I have to say I loathe Fushigi Yuugi both anime and manga.I hate anything by that creator too.She just seems to recycle characters, and themes. It's so annoying. The one character I liked from that creator is Hotohori...and I dunno why. I feel that many Shoujo mangas today are extremely explicit...I mean,it's like hentai!Or ecchi.Ans the characters are always raped or something,or must have a boyfriend. And they make little girls so pervy or overgrown. It's annoying. |

Either you're my twin sister or my sister XD I agree with everything you said though I find Absolute Boyfriend to be alot worse and more offensive than Fushigi Yugi. The notion of "Get yourself a botfriend anyhow" and "you can f*** a doll but not stay single" is sick. I hope I'm not offending any fan here but that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Backstage Prince is one of the mangas which I'd call a waste of time. |

Hot Gimmick - it was the one of the worst shoujo titles that I have ever had the misfortune of reading. Poor Shinogu suffered the entire time while a jerkoff like Ryoki made off with Hatsumi (she had no damn backbone to begin with, so, it was expected she'd choose him, but still!). I felt like punching/hugging Azusa the entire time - he was so confusing! To be honest, I would have much rather read about Subaru and Akane's budding relationship - at least they were semi-normal. Plus, Subaru was so cute :D |

i may have read many bad shoujos but the worst so far, the one whose name just popped into my head when i read this topic's title was Love Monster this manga was memorably BAD imo, i couldnt believe all the good recommendations for it o_o the plot was horribly repititive and boring.. i cant believe i was able to finish it >_< |

Okay, I need to say that the worst shoujo anime i've discovered is Nurse Angel Ririka SOS. I love 90s mahou shoujo... but i can't even bring myself to finish the like 5th episode. maybe not the worst shoujo manga, but i thought Switch! was pretty awful. i'm a huge fan of student/teacher stuff but it just dragged on FOREVER.( even though the whole thing is only 11 chapters) |

Worst shoujo anime for me is Special A -- most of the humor and romance fell completely flat for me :/ For manga, I'm another in the "Hot Gimmick is horrible" camp. The art sucked me in, but once I realized how the story was going, I couldn't deal with it anymore. H20 (manwha) was awful too. It skipped from stupid drama to stupid drama and the characters' actions rarely made sense. Also, any shoujo manga that draws out a short storyline with endless drama is bad in my book; I started out liking both Hana-Kimi and Hana Yori Dango, but gave up because of all the useless drama prolonging a story that should've ended long ago. |

I hate Mayu Shinjo's manga, I've read some, and disliked them all. Then Yoshizumi Wataru's manga, Kimi Shika Iranai is the worst. Also an anti-fan of Hot Gimmick. And also hate Fushigi Yuugi and Zettai Kareshi, though some manga of Watase Yuu are good. I don't watch anime that often, so I can't think of a shoujo anime I didn't like xD |

I hate Red River, Tokyo Boys and Girls, Mermaid Melody, Mamotte! Lollipop, Miracle Girls, Doubt!!, The World Exists for Me, Honey and Clover, and Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time. I could barely get through Red River- it was just that boring. >_<;. The same goes for Mamotte! Lollipop. As for Miracle Girls, I was able to finish it- but I never really got into it. >_<;. Doubt!! was just plain awful- not only was it somewhat boring, but it was really superficial. Tokyo Boys and Girls was just so BORING, and I just couldn't get into Mermaid Melody. The same goes for The World Exists for Me. As for the last two.. they're very painful reads. I know that I'll probably have a bunch of people disagree with me, but those two are a chore to read. So much, that I skip them in Shojo Beat. >_<; |

I'm adding Himegimi no Tsukurikata to my bad hit list. Here's some very general, probably not too spoiler comments, but might as well be safe. It was beyond disappointing and went no where in my opinion. Lots of things/plot points were sorta set up and then never visited or finished. Her behavior seemed inconsistent when it came to the guys and it just came off pointless to me. All with that cute little cover to fool me. /rant |

I'm probably the only person in this community who feels this way, but I can't stand Nana. I didn't like the art, and Hachi irritated me to no end. I also wasn't fond of Hot Gimmick. I continued to read it, hoping that Ryoki would change, but he remained a jerk all the way through. |

"Full Moon (I hated the fillers, Mitsuki was annoying, most of the episodes felt like a waste of time, I'm trying the manga now though since I heard it was better)." I agree with what she said on the first page. People were constantly telling me how great this one was. I was pretty bored. Oh, and Honey and Clover. It was way to "drama-ish" for me. Almost depressing at times. BORING. |
