Is it me or is the only reason this is scored low is because it wasn't made by a jap? |

No. It scored so low because it really isn't that great. For one, animu Tony Stark doesn't seem at all like his America-made counterpart. Also its a snorefest. |

I would say it's the opposite. The Japanese version just isn't as good as the American ones. |

They created a hype by releasing an awesome trailer but the anime turned out to be simply bad even in comparison with relatively bad Iron Man 2. Tony Stark is nothing like he should be. They say that Tony should learn how the Japanese mind works but on the end of first episode instead of saying something purely his style like "fuck. they took the suit" he says something Japanese-like. That's not the Tony I expected. That's mainly because...you have no idea how Tony Stark acts. Having read the comics for years...this IS Tony Stark. |

Contrary to popular belief. This is actually ranked low because well... it sucks. I don't really feel like going through the reasons, read my review. I don't know about you guys, but I enjoyed the hell out of this show. I wasn't even a fan of Iron Man, or cared about it until the first movie came out. It was so done well that Iron Man is now on the list of my favorite superheroes. Granted, I don't know what kind of character Tony Stark was originally so I'm basing him from the first Iron Man movie. The anime character doesn't portray Downey's smart-assness, clever with the words, but Tony Stark is still recognized as the Merchant of Death, someone who still have bad reputation from his business and is now trying to make up for it. Oh, after watching Iron Man 2 the movie, I don't know what to say about it. Still an awesome action flick, but it kind of ruined Stark's image. The anime is awesome though. Kind of surprised about the low score. I know Iron Man anime isn't THAT spectacular, but it getting 7 average while a trashy show like Panty & Stocking getting a lot of 7-10 scores convinced me majority of MAL people have terrible taste. |

i think it got a lower score because when ppl saw the first trailer they were really hyped, but after the second trailer came out, and then went from 2d to 3d on the armor, I think that's when ppl started to get pissed. my, I don't mind it at all. Great series. I'm loving it so far. |

And who the hell says it's crap O_O i saw original iron man...[american one] I saw some comics...I saw movies...tell me what's wrong with this anime? It's not like the majority of the american cartoon episodes weren't stand-alone ones , and this anime sure has better art than the american one...so what's the real logical reason to say it's crap? |

Actually, I've noticed a few shows like that get better scores then I personally think that they deserve. And plenty have people nit picking some of the strangest things. As for this, I think the trailor played a part of the problem. But I also think a LOT of the backlash is coming from people who don't think you should mix Western and Eastern to come up with something new. There are people who seriously nitpick things like Aang (Avatar: The Last Airbender) is played by an caucasian boy, (when he is actually mixed race, obviously so, and that was why he was picked). Yet the rabbid fans of Twilight can't pick apart their series worth beans. There needs to be a balance between the two. That being said, I am watching the first few minutes. The Japanese voice actor irks me. I think, it has to do with the fact that I would have liked to have had it sounded like Tony was American, speaking Japanese here though, not like he was Japanese being able to speak Japanese. The voice sounds right for Tony though. And boy, is he IC. I have to also say, not very action packed. I am going to ask my brother though, to take a look at this, despite it being in Japanese. Even if I have to wait for the dub. His opinion... that is something to go by. He can possibly tell me what people are so uptight about. |

At least you don't fall under that category of being a fan of those shows. Still, from what I've seen as of late, most haters happen to be hardcore fans of those shows. Considering how anime has been lately, this show is a breath of fresh air. There is no real reason to hate it. Sadly, people just like to nitpick for the minor things and use it as a reason to hate on something. If you hate this show, why are you still watching it? Just drop it and move on to something you think you might like. |

I had to refresh my memory of it, only to remember as soon as I went to watch it, why I hadn't planned on picking it up. I was drawn in by the experimental animation, but completly turned off by the level of trashyness in it. I talked to my brother and showed him the first episode. He noted some changes from canon, but he felt it was a revamp and a relaunch of the series, almost like all those Marvel AUs out there too. He was pleased. Not to mention, I was highly reminded by the time I finished the first episode of the old cartoon in some ways. |

I think the ones that are bad mouthing the show were mostly: a) expecting something in the lines of that trailer, in which there is nothing more than a DBZ-like fight between Iron Man and a Harlock wannabe; b) something exactly like the movies. Instead, they got something closer to the actual comics, which most of the animu fans don't like. Iron Man isn't about Tony flying around throwing energy balls at enemies. It's about politics, industrial espionage, cyber warfare... And Tony is shown as he truly is. Not as a japanese shounen hero and not as the goofy Tony from the movies. He is a bit more idealistic than the original Tony, though. In fact, it reminds me a little of the GITS TV series. GITS is far better IMO, but it has the same feeling. All that being said, I'm a little disappointed. They need to kick it up a notch. |

But about Tony being different..im not sure what he was like in the oroginall show, but i did expect more american slang and the use of the word ''fuck'', lame, but it would be more fun that way, im just a teenager, no matter how much id try to denie it, things like that entertaine me. |

Basicly because I thought that it would be more productive to sleep 20 minutes longer than watch this. I haven't red the comics, haven't seen the movie, I disliked it simply as something to spend my time with. @supersonic124: So, if anime and cartoons are not the same, could you explain to me the difference between Princess Mononoke and Watership Down (except story-related stuff like characters and message, obviously)? |

No, this scores low because its not good. For starters the plot is a joke, I mean Yinsen? Thats like a Spiderman story where the bad guy is uncle Ben. Brainwashing? Is that your take on originality? Japanese mindset? Who gives a fuck? This is supposed to be Iron Man not Japan Man. And I don't even need to mention all those bland new characters that only work as weak plot devices... at best... Sorry folks, but this series sucks and this comes from a fan of Iron Man who used to love the TAS as a kid and has been reading Iron Man comics on and off for more than 15 years... I only hope that the Wolverine anime is better than this, way better. PS And yes the Witchblade anime was much better than this... |
