Why do people dislike Kazuya

He was unbearable until end of last season. This season he stopped being an annoying simp for Chizuru and instead decided to do smth for her and for himself indirectly too. Before that he was just an cringe ass horny guy with NTR tendencies wanting to go back to his ex after she ruthlessly dumped him. Also he stopped spending money mindlessly on Chizuru by renting her, which was annoying af and unnecessary. He became a decent character this season in my honest opinion.

Not to mention whenever thing goes so awry he cries like a baby. He can be annoying, spineless and indecisive at times. Those are parts of him I personally dislike

But...
I also admire his dedication to the girl he loves as he is willing to go so far to help her despite all odds. He also resisted temptation from Ruka when she stayed overnight, it shows that he is loyal to his goal and not easily swayed. I can see he will be a good boyfriend one day :)


So personally I think he is not bad, but I also understand why many anime fans dislike him.

His overreacting makes sense in a inside view. But he always sprouts it off as how he interacts with the same people. I get that you can get really nervous around girls all the time but he always calls himself/ sees himself as a loser. We never get to see him in some way looking up to himself/trying to fix himself from being a loser, rather we get a dull motivation for him to help the girl he loves.

And it’s not like all men think like kazuya from rent a girlfriend. His friends can respect themselfs at calm times.

Even how kazuya looks doesn’t make sense. He dyed his hair to look more cool and had probably the goal of being more outgoing in mind and with that you would atleast try to awkwardly be outgoing and practice it like being more casual and stuff. But instead he has zero to none progress on that.

This is why i personally think that Kazuya is a flawed character.

I believe as a character kazuya isn’t much different from other MC in the slice of life / Harem genre. I think most of the hate comes from people wanting to see just see a strong powerful MC that swops all the girls off their feet or just straight up craps on the females in his harem (if you think about it some of the lost popular MC fit in these two categories). As a character kazuya dwells into it isn’t about looks it’s about how you are as a person. He says it many time in the manga and in the anime that he doesn’t see him self as a “hot” guy he thinks down soon himself and his “NTR” tendencies are annoying yes show how he self deprecate himself and how he compares himself to others. For some it’s a turn off because they want to see the strong MC but kazuya is probably on one of he most normal MC in this genre. He has his flaws but you see through out theses season that he goes from a simp(which a lot of people who hate on him probably do it themselves) to actually genuinely careing. Non of the girls fell for him because of his looks but because he genuinely is a nice guy and cares for them, and you see his careing side latter in the chapters. I think most of the hats is either people just wanting to hate to hate or people just want to watch some hot MC giga chad just pick up girls even. Kazuya is a MC that gets to much hate for how the author puts him through
