A pretty good episode, show off MC skill in dungeon again.

We can see that the MC don't like people dissing the game.

They made it a sad scene when the new female character keep on losing lol.

Seem like the MC just created a rival?!

too many reused scene and the pacing lol the character was kinda OOC? Ye Xiu didnt care about money, he only care about cigarette and glory lmao and that was definitely sweat for Tang Rou xD (But I really liking the design for Tang Rou <3)
This episode was kinda unfriendly for first time viewer, are they intend to aim only on the novel reader lol They didnt explained the skills used and why the play of unspecialized is being abandon and so..
According to the fans, this episode cover 18 chapter?? lmao
XiuLuLu? was cute af

Yea, there was reuse scenes. But it could be explain away as game skill lol....

They are going pretty fast. The jokes got cut....

The whole skeleton dungeon got skipped through bummer.
They are better at adapting the comedy than the drama scenes is the impression I got.
I imagined the z movement technique as an means for creating i-frame in a single spot, didn't think it'd be such a large movement.
Finally we get to see the silver weapon in action, holy shet I love the transformation.
I don't like the effect of them shaking the screen though, lol.

Mc Donalds product placement everywhere haha.
Tang Rou finally makes her debut, damn I love this girl.
Those mob npc-like background characters are kinda cute once you get used to them. XD
It's hilarious how they dramatize the duel between Ye Xiu and Tang Rou, it was suppose to be funny.
That damned smug face is seriously asking for a punch LMAO.

I'm glad they quickly skipped through the dungeons and guild dynamics in Glory and got to introducing Tang Rou instead - I'm way more interested in what is going on in the outside world compared to just watching the OP MC dominating in the MMO world.

I definitely want to see more of the e-sports scene and PvP mechanics rather than the MMO.

Detailed skills description compiled from source. Don't think the anime is going to waste time like log horizon on "world building" since this isn't a trap in mmorpg where understanding is essential. Anw pretty generic mmorpg stuff and I don't find myself not catching on what is happening just cuz I am just an anime viewer.

And honestly I am thankful they didn't do that cuz I am still salty that after 50episode of log horizon the plot hardly advances -_-'''

Those are just skills for one job lol.

The main focus or the thing that made this novel a success was its story and characters to start with and it takes time to reach those moments, the action etc are just tools acting as support. The beginning part is just fun and games as an introduction, 12 episodes isn't even enough to cover all that unfortunately.

I'm watching this anime with a unbiased mind so I'm going to list down my current review and a few concerns for this anime.

First of all, I don't understand why they use recycled frames. This is 2017 and the anime is not something like Yugioh or Pokemon. Therefore, unless they manage to show some amazing stuff in the upcoming episodes, I don't see how this anime can be considered "good" in terms of animation besides maybe a breath of fresh air.

Second, the action animation is quite bad. My reasoning is that I find the action animation in this anime to be choppy and filled with bad camera works. It is filled with too much camera cuts into explosions and doesn't show the impact of the actual attack. A good example is the first 2 minutes of the first episode where One Autumn Leaf is introduced. I expected the spear to pierce the golem and then show the explosion, not a flying spear into a camera cut and explosion.
Also, a side note is that it would have generated a more powerful image if afterwards they animated him picking up the spear that is stabbed into the ground in the midst of the fire instead of just showing him standing there with it magically in his arms again. Another camera cut into explosion happens again within the same episode when he fights the midnight cat.

Thus, compared to other Japanese animation that animate the whole scene in a fluid third person perspective, this anime's animation generate confusion and the lack of 'impact' behind each attack. The difference is like watching a classic and realistic martial art film's fight choreography compared to watching some fake amateur choreography filled with many camera cuts.

Overall, the combat animation is quite bad and hard to follow considering how the anime is rumored to have a hefty budget with Tencent behind it. It seems like China still has a long way to go.

For that, the anime is 6/10 for me so far.

just back from some Chinese forum, FYI the producers seem to have the announcement that the first 4 episodes may not be that good compared to the latter due to some budget dealing problems. this might explain their reuse of frames. just to inform your guys, not to raise high expectation. cuz idk if this is confirmed. but for anyone who complains about the action part, it will probably be improved later. by the way the novel is long, and there will be at least 3 seasons of this, so i think they are now focusing on telling the story in real life rather than the fighting in gaming world.

Ok, so I have to admit that this episode was not as good as the previous episodes, especially because of its reused frames. I mean, yes, budget problems, so I'm expecting better animation after episode 5, but some frames didn't have to be this blatantly reused haha. I'm alright with the reused stuff in the fighting sequences, because that, in a way, shows he's using the same skills as when he was defeating the boss, reminding us that this is all in-game.

What brought up my opinion of this episode was the introduction of Tang Rou. I like her better as a character than Chen Guo since she's learning more about the game instead of stagnating like Chen Guo did. (it also means that we're getting closer to Steam Bun Invasion)

Anyway, I like how Ye Xiu couldn't deal with people dissing the game. What a hardcore guy.

While I like Tang Rou's character design, the peeps on Blue River's team has really bland design. Like that knight guy looks almost exactly like Little Moon Moon, I also wish they'd shown how miss matched Yexiu's equipments and accessories are, due to his "unclassed" status.

This episode was a 7/10 for me.

Well all novel readers would be able to enjoy it if they don't expect it to be as good as the novel lol.

I'm really curious myself about how much or which part they are planning to adapt. I'm like 350 chaps into the novel right now. In the PV there was pvps between Ye Xiu and Han Wenqing/Huang Shaotian and other pro characters were animated but don't they all make their debuts way back ? o.O

Hmm, they made TangRou look like she is crying, which is not really a good thing, cause in the WN she just kept challenging with a straight face and sheer bloodlust. She didn't become the most terrifyingly stubborn Pro in Glory by crying. I really do not like them doing this, the Rou (Soft) in her name was meant to be ironic cause she is anything but Soft and tend to scare even pros with how competitive and battle hungry she is.

Also, they didn't show how important the team was in setting the record, there is a reason YeXiu asked for all DPS team, they were the main output while he was the tank.

I like how Ye Xiu's team mates were totally clueless about what to do until Ye thought it's time they needed to be informed, lol.

The scene where Blue River was showing off a skilled master joining his club and was mocked by his opponent for being proven wrong immediately, was hilarious.

Somehow I felt like that the MC showed more emotion when the game he'd played for 10 years was looked down upon than when he's forced to leave the team. Our MC doesn't mess around when it comes to his eSports.

I wasn't as hyped as I expected during this ep, maybe because I'm not that into the newly introduced girl. Still a decent ep tho.
BTW, I kinda ship Ye Xiu & Chen Guo.
