supernatural powers, eh? though i wish they would explain what exactly the monsters are that are in involved in the episode; sucks the brother had to die, stupid freezing girl with the really creepy doll
the only way to stop a gamer from playing is either: beat them, or wait until they get bored (though 2% percent suffer seizures

Quite a depressing ending. That poor girl died in the end I guess, well it makes sense because without her brother there's no reason left for her to live on.

On the most superficial level you can read this as a Urobuchi-esque tale about how it would suck to be able to read minds which leads to a tragic fate. And maybe that's what the creators were going for.

Perhaps this is a reach, but I think they actually inject some ambiguity as to whether or not the kids were able to read minds after all in the closing minutes when Chisato says she wasn't able to read minds after all. I say this because the shinma of this episode seems to be a representation of the antagonistic thoughts that keep the kids from getting the help they need; are they really reading other people's thoughts or are those thoughts just projections of their own fears of betrayal and cynicism towards others? Is their isolation imposed by a fearful society or is it self-imposed? See, the boy thought the dog was a victim just like he was, but it turns out the dog's backstory was false, revealing a demon underneath. Perhaps this speaks to the damage that his self-victimizing mentality has wrought on him and his sister.

Again, maybe it's a reach, but it just fits so nicely with Miyu's previously established fears of connecting with others since the girl is used to parallel her own past. Maybe I'm overanalyzing each episode but yeah, I didn't expect anything of this series and I'm surprised at that there's actual thought put into what should've been a straightforward monster of the week show about a cute half vampire girl perhaps falling in love with her bishounen guardian. After all, it's only rated 7.17 and the director hasn't made anything else of note.

The snow princess is pretty kill happy.
And I think this time, unlike the ones transformed into animals, they could have been saved if the dog had been defeated. (unlike other Shinma, none had been cursed yet).

I wonder if it's going to stay monster of the week the entire time or if it's going to have some plot points lasting longer than an episode. Well, either is fine, as long as the short plot remain interesting.

@Recynon This analysis reminds me of a guy who hated other humans. He used to constantly say that he wished he could be reborn as an animal, because humans are too cruel. We had to point out that animals fight everyday and would leave their young behind to run from predators.

Him hating humans and empathizing with animals could be due to that thought process.
