THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The Gowa Family needs to plan ahead better in the future so shit doesn't happen like what it did this episode.

Too bad about the UN, oh well. Guess you can't win every battle even if you think ahead huh?

Digging this show so far
Been a while since I saw a mecha show that required me to use my brain.

This episode was like half news reports and half mech demonstration, which I don't think was the smartest of moves for only the second episode. For anyone who thought the first episode was too dense, this might be a jumping off point.

We still know next to nothing about our main character, and instead of character development we get a ton of information on the growing global conflict in Belgistan. The Belgistanian events in this episode seem to be modeled after the post-Gulf War/pre-Iraq War era of Saddam's Iraq. A lot of exposition here about the US imposing sanctions in emergency sessions, invading multi-national UN backed forces, and a corporate news industry peddling misinformation to the masses about what's actually going on.

The only perspectives on these events we really have so far are from the Gowa family; a seemingly very wealthy and powerful corporation who appear to being pulling a lot of strings behind the scenes in an effort to sell their weapons... weapons which are very similar to the ones the Belgistanians are somehow in possession of.

All of this surrounding geopolitical backstory is rather interesting, but it is at the expense of developing the main character.

Belgistan is putting up more of a fight than you'd think, considering they're dealing with the UN.

Yuushirou is still enigmatic and unreadable. I'll assume him and Miharu will eventually become relevant once this anime is done laying the worldbuilding groundwork, which still seems to be in progress.

The first thing we see is that it seems that the incident from 8 years ago was caused by the power of the ritual. We confirm that the two groups are opposed. It is very possible that those who held the bearer of power prisoner are from the country that the United Nations is attacking, Belgian or whatever. On the other hand, the relationship between the bearers of power is very curious. Where they reside seems to be a breeding ground for bearers of power, perhaps genetic, but there are no symptoms, at least not yet, of rebellion. Only the sister seems to notice the manipulation. Could it be that the protagonist has not realized it, or does he agree with it, as long as it allows him to have more knowledge? As for the weapons that that it have been shown, the MECHA, can only be effectively controlled by wielders of power? And it seems that no government had that ability, except for the group that is investigating it. They want to sell you information and weapons in exchange for money, I imagine.

TOTALLY AGREE on both things. Truly that is a cost the anime is getting but i dont consider it bad necesarily.

Also, this users know that the group im refering to, is the Gowa family. Where do they say that??
