Come on guys the robot is on the cover of the anime. He's not gonna die. Anyway, well meaning robot characters in fiction always get the shaft, as do dumb heavy characters, and Kiku here fulfills both roles, so this wasn't unexpected.

This anime has very well crafted action set pieces and it should be appreciated for that. Because they have such interesting settings for the action to take place, and interesting mechanics, they don't have to rely on pure swordplay to carry the action, which prevents it from getting boring.

Kikuchiyo my goat! I've actually have come to love and appreciate the random machine samurai edo period japan aesthetic ahaha and character design is actually amazing, also goes so well with that wacky and fluid animation at times. But this episode was a bit boring ahahah
