Mm a lot of info dump this episode with the six scrapped princesses. Dat goblins too. Really nice to hear about Shiroe's history a little. 98 years huh...

Decent episode again. I really like how their mechanics are being explained. That soup makes me hungry.

Wow, various magic explanation and storytelling with hologram. That Fujiwara-san is very knowledgeable for he even knows about him (and when he started playing). So the time flows faster in the game.

lol @ Kakkii's character. Kind of messy twam, so the girl starts to step up to regroup?

Awesome episode.

Loved the back story setting of the Elder tale world.

How the Apocalypse is actually something written in the history of the game and how 20 yrs = 240 yrs which was the second world fraction was really interesting as well.

The thing about Alvs and Demi-humans...etc was really awesome. Lol'd at Shiro being a Half Alv which means in the game setting he'd probably be a slaves son XD

Lol'd so much at Akatsuki's reaction to Shiroe being an Archmage and being active for 98 yrs hahahaha. Her face was really cute <3

Found the Psyche and Anima and what happens after death intriguing too. Really awesome writing there.

The ending was nice. Good to see that Rudy isn't just some snob and he actually spends some effort. Can't bring myself to dislike him. Some vibes between him and Isuzu there. And I actually found them to be a good couple <3 Minori is finally gonna say what's in mind.

I wonder if all this memory loss explanation is a foreshadowing for what will happen to Rudy when he dies in this dungeon??? (Not a spoiler since it's in the OP and flags are rising so it's obvious)...Well I'm interested. Can't wait to see what happens nxt.

Oh damn, do you remember what episode? I may have picked up on this if it weren't once a week and I weren't watching 8 shows right now. Or maybe I just died in game...

and who knows, maybe the people of the land were people who participated in the game's Alpha, who also got trapped in the world and died enough times to forget their memories (and just happened to have happened before level cap increases)

This is still so much better than SAO can ever hope to be. And it keeps getting more and more entertaining to watch.

Edit: the 'Rudy' bit you guys above my post mentioned seems like an interesting idea, but the memory loss only applies if they've died in game. Which they didn't. Otherwise they would've resurrected at the Cathedral (iirc, none of the group members know any resurrection spells so it's safe to assume none of them died either). Maybe it's just that they weren't ready to address him in such a friendly manner yet. Personally, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Wow Regan explanation just made the series more complicated. To be honest, I didn't understand half of it...

The question is how did Elder Tale exist even before the open beta? Is that the game development part? At first I thought that world fraction were the updates to the game but I guess not.

I'm glad the series is finally hinting something that is related to the real life and not just the game itself.

I wonder what will that five kids even achieve even if they finish the dungeon. They are still useless as hell...

Well, if they died they would go back to Akibahara, and we haven't seen any retrievals from there yet, so i don't think they've died yet, but i'm not fully sure.

first world fraction is probably during game development since it has only monster, no player. but at this point im start to not sure they were developing "game". saw Shiroe playing elder tale on his pc mean he got "sucked" in to the game, not stuck in some VR gear like SAO. thats very interesting

Oh wow this week's episode had a lot of info. I had to pause several times just to make sure I didn't miss anything and thoroughly understood everything. I have a feeling there'd be some people who'd ask "why is..." or "how did..." and we'd be telling them to go re-watch episode 14 again LOL.

"I'm the magician of Miral Lake...Regan" was I the only one who thought he'd say Matoba? XD!

When Akatsuki told Shiroe she doesn't really understand it, I was like "me too" ahaha.

Interesting how the first world fraction happened even before the adventurers were introduced into the game. So that means it happened while the game was still in development. Well it seems like world fraction happens when something major is added into the game. If we're to look at it from a gamer's perspective, the story of the six bent princesses could just be some back-story to introduce new monsters (demi-humans), the second was the open beta and the third is the major expansion.

Hope Minori finally takes charge of the group.

Also, I love how they added the game version on the upper left corner of the ET splash screen. Makes it feel more authentic no? :)

To actually connect a fictional game to the real world through practical concepts of magic, the author couldn't have impressed me enough. :D

So to speak, the Elder Tale itself is an actual universe where its "god" are the game developers of our world. We are introduced with three phases (three times the World Fraction was used) of how the game has evolved. The first one is the development of the game concepts including both the initial history of the game and the introduction of demi-humans or monsters. This shows that world-class magic was able to affect the whole universe of Elder Tale or the game itself. Moreover, the second phase or the second time the world fraction was used indicated that it was possible for world-class magic to interact with people of a higher dimension (players) as they are able to control their characters (adventurers) in a lower dimension (the game) and actually affect that world. However, the shocking thing that is revealed is in the third phase itself (the third time the World Fraction is used, or what they call the Apocalypse). Ignoring the laws of physics of our universe or dimension, it is shown that it was possible for world-class magic not only to affect the game itself, not only for players from the higher dimension to affect the Elder Tale universe, but also to affect our universe itself (absorbing the consciousness of the actual players into game). This is a very interesting thing and how I wished that it is actually possible.

Anyway, to be called an archmage (dai majutsushi) if Shiroe had been playing Elder Tale for more than 9 years is... Hehehe, well I suppose that's awesome. :D

As you can see in this episode, Shiroe was playing the game normally through his PC without any additional devices, so I'm assuming Elder Tales was not designed to be a VR game in the first place.

This is most certainly a very engaging episode of Log Horizon. Coming on the heels of the Raynesia and Krusty interactions, now we get the much anticipated exposition of the world they are in. It appears that they are not stuck in a VRMMO or some experiment using plausible futuristic technology but instead is actually transported into a brand new world.

The fact that each time they die, they lose part of their memory (ALA Valvrave) means they cannot count on being immortal in a quality of life sense. Tying experience loss to literal loss of experience (aka Memories) is quite a twist, and brings up some interesting questions. Also the meaning behind their souls being reborn and the body being remade in the cathedral is literally per-se what happens in standard MMO’s.

Still this does bring up a question. If this is a parallel world, does that mean they were transported to a future of the parallel world? Because the basis of this world is our world itself. Still as has been pointed out the game has been going on for so long (As in-game time = faster in the Elder Tales World) Shiroe himself was considered a mage of great wisdom due to the Landers believing his game time.
Also of course the back story of the 6 Scrapped Princesses, the 3 World Fractions being Global-level magic that was brought as a reaction to the world. Very great world building.

Anyways, such questions aside, we do get the B-Team getting its stuff together. Throwing them in the fire per-se in order to build experience and working together properly was great. Still it did certainly brought back a lot of memories to a lot of MMO players. But it’s a great introduction to people who don’t play. Lot of people do not want just focus on the already Overpowered Lv.90 players no?

it would be curious if they didn't get stuck into the game to start with, but only a copy of their psyche and their character was created while their real self is still out waiting for the update of the game to take place

Obviously, the only way out is another World Fraction. It is the only magic that was able to affect people from a higher dimension in the first place. I believe Shiroe and the others will have to go to various legendary quests from the Novasphere Pioneers pack in order to have a clue on how to use World Fraction.

What if when you level up to level 100th it's possible to use World Fraction? Maybe one player is not enough but like it was said 6 princesses used this spell, so 6 players each of then has 100th level.

So in a way they have to find the source of the third world fraction in order to find out how to get back home.

I tend to think of it this way the universe of elder tale was created from another universe and the first 2 world fractions were caused by the intervention of the game creators which in this case are the gods of the elder tale universe while the third world fraction was something so powerful that it's power was so powerful that it was able to breach and connect to our universe.

Now the real question is what was it that caused the world fraction and how it can be used to re-connect our universes together again.

you know it makes u wonder is each universe basically a creation of someone from another universe aka a higher plane of existence is our universe basically a creation of some others from another.

boy oh boy this some deep thought the writer really has put down quite a philosophical question

0 world spell:
Creation of the game
1st World Spell
Monsters are added in the creation
op class in the game removed lol
2nd World Spell
Open beta
3rd World Spell
Apocalypse

prediction: In the op where 'rudy' dies and Isuzu is crying possible explanation would be that they probably fell with each other and both of them knowing ruden haus(lol, did I say that correctly) would their memories.

very intriguing plot waiting for the next one :D

What if when you level up to level 100th it's possible to use World Fraction? Maybe one player is not enough but like it was said 6 princesses used this spell, so 6 players each of then has 100th level.
That is a very good theory but it wasn't said that the 6 princesses together casted the World Fraction nor was it said that any of them was the one who casted it. We'll have to get more info in order to conceptualize how the spell can be made.

After rewatching it again, it appears that the psyche and anima of the People of the Land simply return/scatter to the land when they die. This means there's no concept of souls going to places like purgatory, etc. So when the first World Fraction was used, all the scattered souls around were used to create the demi-humans which means that all the demi-humans were once before People of the Land (thus it is why the demi-humans also have souls and while they have limited intelligence, they do have consciousness as what was explained before at the start of episode 13). Hence, the demi-humans are like zombies. Lol.

Some of the people here seem to think that if Adventurers lose their memories, they'd either become monsters or people of the land. I think not, they'd still be conscious as always and they'd still be Adventurers. I believe it's better to look at the memory-loss as a side effect of the World Fraction rather than a system.

I like this anime but something is intriguing me , Elder Tale is not a virtual game , it's a "normal" mmorpg , how do you get stuck in a mmorpg ?

thats why its very hopeless to find the way out because they dont even know how they get in here. most people already give up

I don't want it to end up as some bunch of weeaboos playing an mmorpg that they can't log out and ignore their real life. Gt your fucking ass off the char , you fucking weeb Fuck shit lmao , jkjkk.

Any LN readers , care to spoil me some regarding my query ?

Manga wise:

Hey some Rundelhouse Information:

Anyways. Overall I like how Toumo does his world building. :D

Lmao , he get sucked by the monitor that's one major bullshit.

The question is how did Elder Tale exist even before the open beta? Is that the game development part? At first I thought that world fraction were the updates to the game but I guess not.

Still no answer about that in the LN
That is one of the main mystery so we might see the answer when the end of LH(LN) is near..and I hope that answer will be a good one/mind blown
