Why couldn't he be some normal boy falling in love with a girl not for what she looks like bur for who she really is? I'm not the one making the prejudice here, the mangaka is. I'm not sure it's exactly a fetish. Like Yukiya said at that one part, "It's a preference" :P Sure, he was being pervy and weird at first, but that's just his character type. By the end, the author also made it clear that he didn't fall in love with her because of what she looks like, but for who she is as a person. Sure, the main theme of the story is this bishounen falling for a chubby girl, and I can understand the idea that perhaps her weight didn't even need to be mentioned. However, I feel like her weight is only getting brought up because it's not something we commonly see in love stories, and the mangaka wants to clearly show that love is possible between somebody like him, and somebody like her. |
