Great episode the beginning was pretty disturbing but we did get to see more of the people behind the red army, and the end left with a good cliff hanger to start episode 6 with a lot of action

Nice episode!

The human experiments were just sick <.< crazy scientists. I wonder why doesn't Kuromitsu's blood work with all the humans they're using and many are just "waste"

Lots of good scenes with Kuromitsu and Kurou, really beautiful animation. The clocks and the windows were awsome too!

When the red emperors' army appeared with that music I thought "Star Wars all over it" xD

It was weird seeing the Red army experimenting like that, using a human body just for the test and then disposing if fail. I was wondering what exactly was 'snapping' if you know what I mean. Seems like the geezer from ep2 is still alive, if he's looking for immortality, wouldn't you think he already has it? He just wants a younger body since his seems like it's falling apart.
I liked the whip action from the evil guy. I can't wait for the next episode.. CLIFHANGER ... "Give me my katana" (PWN them Kuro !!)

PS: I love the artwork!

Interesting episode, the experiments were a little twisted, but I think most people would have gotten accustomed to that from previous episodes xD. Nest episode is going to be awesome =D him getting his Katana and going all "vampire mode" or whatever on those Red army guys xD!

The direction and art are still as awesome as usual, but the last two episodes were really slow, I hope the pace will quicken a bit in the next episodes.

The human test subjects and the headless horse hallucination we're... sick, in a good way. [: The scene with Kuro and Kuromitsu in the field of phosphorescence flowers was beautiful and touching.

I'm not liking Kuon one bit. The story is progressing nicely. I love the confusion, it will all make sense hopefully at the end, patience.. I'm enjoying the ride.

Just re-watched 1-3 and watched 4-5. I'm now going to try to make sure I watch every episode weekly.

I'm starting to wonder, with this only being 13 episodes long, if it'll ever make sense. We've gone from two monks on the run from monsters in ancient Japan to vampires fighting against an army that kills and experiments on humans, with very little in the way of explanations provided. And with Kuromitsu flashbacks thrown around to add to the confusion, it's headache inducing stuff if you want to comprehend the events.

The Benkei mystery as still as mysterious as it was in EP2 due to it not being mentioned since the end of EP2, although I'm fairly certain the whole Benkei samurai section was part of the brainwashing he received and not something that actually occurred. I'm guessing the evil Russian guy (well, he looks Russian to me!) who owned Kuro at the end of EP3 is Benkei the 7th, but that's mainly because his upper face is covered and every well-built baddie seems to be Benkei.

Talking of identity guessing, Saniwa looks very much like an older version of Kuromitsu. Same sort of clothing, same sort of hair-style, and she's supposedly had Kuromitsu confide in her. The only holes in my (fairly obvious) theory right now are Saniwa's eye colour and why she'd need to ask Kuro a question in order to confirm his identity. Of course, the two women looking similar could be a coincidence, just like the dead guy at the end of EP1 looking like Benkei was.

Anyway, even though I have only a vague understanding of the story, I'm enjoying the series a lot. It has great production values, and it even has an awesome yellow/green/red 'bullet time' effect that makes the action sequences more exciting. Madhouse are godly.

YEAH that Saniwa is mysterious and I though like you that she does have some connection directly to Kuromitsu.

Ugh I don't know why I decided to eat while watching the beginning of this episode. It made me feel sick Dx

Anyway I'd probably understand more if I watch this all together (just watched 3-5 in a row) so I'll probably wait until it finishes airing before watching more. Though my curiosity might get the better of me...

So I'm guessing that Kuromitsu is dead/ that ball of blood or whatever in the middle of that machine that that dude was watching over. o.o

Next episode looks like it'll have a decent bit of action in it so... yay? :D

Personally I'm loving this so far.

The better question is, where are they getting all of that "Kuromitsu" blood for the human experiments? Are they somehow synthesizing it or they just bleed her dry and let her eat the people that fail?

Well those sure are some weird experiments that they're doing. Curious to find out how they got so much blood from Kuromitsu. The animation in a lot of the scenes is just amazing.

Everytime I see an important woman - Rai or Saniwa in this episode, I keep thinking it's Kuromitsu ... :P
Anyhow, interesting episode with the human experiments.
I'm almost sure Benkei is going to make an appearance anytime soon.

The beginning was quite nauseating...and of course horrific, what kind of person is that. Things keep evolving so humans should die and evolve into something else. Why would anyone come to such a conclusion. Is there a benefit to evolving? If everyone became a vampire or some weird strong and super intelligent creature, I don't see how that will be any better. I wonder if we'll learn about why the antagonist thinks this way, or just simply that this is his motivation to do the things he's doing.

The saniwa is interesting, having known Kuromitsu.

Red Army attacking once again, ugh.
