So it ended. I love Horikoshi-sensei and Oumagadoki Zoo was beyond epic, but Bulge was meh. Too cliché and everything was just okayish. Better luck in the next work!

PS: Please, do not waste your talent at Shonen Jump, Horikoshi. You're too good for this magazine. =)

Hm, well thats a rather mean spirited thing to say towards the magazine, even if its hard as crap to get stuff published on there.

Anyway I sort of enjoyed this more than the zoo manga, just a smiget, but I really hope his next work is the one that really sticks, I really like the guys art style.

As for bulge on a whole I always thought it had potential howevere that was pretty much wasted due to the cancelation, which is a shame. If anything I'd give it a 7/10 as it really did entertain me, I did like the characters and the art was fun.

That was a decent ending considering its cancellation. It's started out on a high note and had plenty of potential but I guess it wasn't good enough compared to the other top shounen at Jump. Hopefully we'll see more of this mangaka as I've definitely become a fan of his art.

Well, there goes that. Such a shame, it really had potential.

I have a feeling that rolling out chapters on a weekly basis doesn't seem to work for Horikoshi. He should try going for Jump Square or something, that way he'll have more time to plot out things. Beside, Weekly Shounen Jump is simply way too competitive anyway. His works are bound to get axed before even having the chance to become interesting.

6/10.

Had this been given time to grow and become something truly epic, it could have easily been a 9. A truly promising series ruined by a lack of home country support.
My first novel, Kardia has been published! Click here to read!

Sigh...the axe hits this series. Rating this 6/10 also. It has great potential with the arsenal of characters it had and world setting is thought provoking. Truly a sad event this is..

Wasn't interesting enough to last longer than this, to be honest. Amazing character design though, specially Tiko and her Tank Girl styled desert girl outfit.

Sad that this got axed, I will really miss Tiamat, and the beginning chapters were way better and more creative than the generic start of Boku no Hero Academia, Definitely had lot of potential

It did the best it could giving the circumstances. It's hard to be that upset about Barrage's cancellation knowing that had it continued, we likely wouldn't have gotten My Hero Academia, and I feel that series has proven to be far better. I do like the adventure element of Barrage a bit more, Black showed that the villains could wind up a bit more nuanced and I kinda of like the alien war premise a bit more, at least in terms of how it opens up a varied amount of different designs. But I definitely prefer Quirks to Dark Energy. I suppose Dark Energy could've gotten more interesting had it continued, but it's ability to do essentially anything isn't as engaging to me as Quirks, which have an element of the characters personality driven into them as well as being more specific powers that have more situational uses, which can make them more engaging. The fights in My Hero tended to have a lot more strategy to them, and even in the earlier chapters conflicts were solved using different applications of the power (like the baseball test). There were elements of strategy present in Barrage, but it relied far more on Astro powering up on emotional beats which mostly felt unsatisfying. It kinda worked at the end since it was done out of reaction to Tiamat's arm being bitten. Their dynamic is the focal point of the series so it worked on that level, and it was necessary for Astro to view Black enough as a villain, it does feel almost intentional on Black's part, especially since he attacked in a way to leave Tiamat's arm intact. And unrelated to the comparison, as much as I complained when they revealed it, I did like Astro's scene with Tiamat about the King's son. Should've figured it was going to be used just to double down on the blood doesn't equal family theme.

I'll give it a 6/10. It was a fun distraction.

Ouch, it got axed. That's a shame since it wasn't actually too bad... I really enjoyed the art too.
