The best part was how Maetel told a single loose screw caused all the air in the colony to escape. Hilarity ensues. That's some design flaw. Too bad they didn't have anything else to keep the air in, like, well, gravity.

Maybe the planet wasn't the size of the Earth, and the loose screw caused artificial gravity to malfunction.

...and yet another planet is destroyed, Ghost Colony this time. If it keeps going that way, the number of stations at Galaxy Express 999's route will decrease by two or even more
Some other morale than "mechanical body is bad", that's a new. For that reason alone this episode was slightly better than other, and next episode promises to have some new morale, too.

Nice to see an attempt to tell something new.
Weird to see 70s Japan.

3/5

I still think this kind of very limited short story would be better fitted for a comics chapter read in ~10mn than a 20+mn TV episode.

maybe the reason nobody wants to live on Dr Cycropos' planet is because he built a self-destruct switch for the planet into his house?...

like, for real, dude?

This series really is hilarious.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Trust, that's all Doctor Cycropros wanted to be happy. An incident prevented him from having his experiments recognized. It was a sad ending for the Doctor and for this sad planet.

It's a shame that the doctor and his planet were destroyed, but that's the way he wanted to go out.

Tetsurou was moved by his diary.

Wouldn't having a mechanical body have saved you from a lack of air? If he built the colony only 15 years ago, you cannot tell me that only flesh and blood humans lived there.
Just to nitpick, but if he killed so many people, he should have been sent to jail; he clearly was not on Ghost Colony when the leak occured, and he did kill earthlings it seems, so he should be available to be tried on Earth. Not that that's something this show would cover, nor do I know if they assume the justice system doesn't exist, or if the doctor lives in a lawless country (but, I mean, how would he get money and people interested in living on that planet if he was from the equivalent of HxH's meteor city?).
Since it's my first comment on the show, I'll just say that I find it a bit too clear in it's intent, and a bit too open in promoting terrorism and unjustness. The conductor would be more interesting if there were more people on the train than just Tetsuro and Maetel, I have no particular interest in Maetel (as she's just a representation of the author's beliefs), and I don't like Tetsuro. It repeats ideas quite often, and most precarious situations would not occur if 1- Tetsuro listened to Maetel 2- The people they meet on those planets weren't all psychotic 3- They just don't leave the train. I get this last one is not possible for the story to happen, but if they had a few planets along the way where it looked like it was worth visiting, it would make more sense for the characters.
