THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I am right now crying very hard for the end. I should have heeded the warnings about Kariya and the mother of Rin. It’s none other than the following, TT_TT Kirei that SOB! I can't hate him but somehow there is this RAGE pileup at him for setting up Kariya. On the other hand I cannot express my happiness while it was there at the following, F YOU Zouken! You deserved this shit for feeding that worm and other ones on Sakura. Her innocence and all felt like it got avenged more with this. I need to cool down. The ending is so shocking my hands are shaking a little from the trauma that was so powerful. I FAILED! I never though such powerful feelings came out for Rin’s mother. However she was always a innocent victim. Rin's mother TT_TT Now she has no parents left. About Aoi’s death and what leads up to it. There is nothing of more depressing in this episode and for that matter the worst possible sadness to have come as of this episode itself. The lost of a mother IS THE WORST SHIT! I can’t even stop the lingering feelings from piling up into a disgusting RAGE and destruction in terms of this event. The RAGE for the unfairness and shit Kirei makes Kariya go through this but the destruction is more towards Archer. GILGAMESH YOU COWARDS SHIT! In the spoiler That being said Kariya in the spoiler So what follows exactly? PAIN! One the means before anything happens after Aoi freaks out is in the spoiler I will leave it that. Despite the Saber/Rider amazing confrontation I cannot find the time now to write of comment on it. Aoi’s death is making me be like that. It’s so powerful that it seems what happened in the episode before is MEANINGLESS. I shall leave it at that with a possible edit later. BTW I leave a very dear Irisviel and Saber Stitches parts in the spoiler |

Decent. So glad that team Waver (and rider) makes it through one more week. Glorious visuals during the skirmish. Otherwise much of the rest was kind of dull. Though I did like the Kariya happenings. Didnt understand the kirei kotomine and the older mage discussion nor what Gilgamesh was even planning with with him. The anime would be easier to follow and wrap my head around if it was more doing instead of talking so much. |

The hunt is on! Saber trailing Rider's ass from the previous episode. Waver: Hey Rider, how do we get back to town? Rider: Well, I guess we walk. Waver: Guess so. lololol Anyways great episode, especially the first half. I'm also sensing an Archer vs. Rider coming up soon. |

Oh Kirei, you really loved watching Kariya suffer. Well, I don't care what happens to him to be honest, hopefully he will die soon. His intentions were noble but in that war, like Caster and Ryounuske, Berserker and Kariya were wild cards. It seems next week the final battles will start. |

pity they didn't meet up with Caster/Ryunosuke. They would have a fun time being sadistic together. |

Zouken and Kirei anyway. It's not like Gil cares a bit about Kariya in particular; he was just a disposable (and apparently kind of average) source of entertainment Kirei came up with as part of their first big exercise in pleasure-seeking. Kind of like a bland pilot episode of a tv show or something. Anyway, good episode (much better than the last few), and the rest of the episodes from here out should be good, so I'm looking forward to them. |

That chase. Compressed a lot of pages of Gen describing the V-Max and all its movements. That said, I wished the chase was a bit longer. Saber finding a boulder ramp all of a sudden seems...sudden. It was thrilling nonetheless. And lots of eyecandy too. And that's how they made Kerry find out about Kotomine. Less eventful than him putting two and two together in the Tohsaka place. It was fun seeing him torment Byakuya though. Oh Kirei. You and your trolling. The comments were all saying, "Rejoice Kariya!" The conversation with Zouken was missing something but eh, complaining will get me nowhere, though it will make the next episodes seems out of place if you haven't read the FSN VN. Being Kariya is suffering. wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww That screaming was just...wow. Oh man, next episode's title. And that preview. |

So, Kirei finds a soulmate in Zouken, though it doesn't appear like he rejoices in this discovery, which is understandable. It seems not even Kirei is a match for a man sadistic enough to take pleasure in his own son's misfortune. Gilgamesh certainly brought it to the point with describing the current events as a play while pulling the strings behind the scenes. Kariya is a tragic hero at his finest: Misunderstood and mistreated until the end (?) killing the person he hold dearest. Once again it shows what a despicable being Gilgamesh is, reducing humans to mere tools for his entertainment and dismissing the tragedy unfolding before his very eyes as a poor first attempt of his servant, because that's what Kirei is in the end, just another pawn in the game. Which path will Kariya take from now on with both his nemesis and his love interest having met their demise? If he still can think rationally he will come to realize who the culprit is and will try to seek revenge. Then he and his servant would be on the same wavelenght at least. |

He has already lost everything dear to him except her. |

@Yumekichi Zouken said to Kotomine about how he notices that Caster is not a proper Heroic Spirit and there's something wrong with the Holy Grail War. Obviously it will manifest itself later on as the black mud/curse aka Angra Mainyu |

The scene with Kariya-Aoi was my favorite part in the LN. I didn't like it so much here, though. First of all, a lot of the background info is ignored (Aoi and Kariya's relationship most importantly). Also, in the LN, Kariya chokes Aoi in a fit of madness, NOT INTENTIONALLY!! Once he realizes what he's doing he flips out and stops. I have no idea why the hell they made it seem like he was doing it intentionally here. It's also more obvious that Aoi is alive in the LN... Jeez, these guys at Ufotable must really hate Kariya. |

I don’t know who you are, but isn’t it about time you revealed yourself?” This voice carried an authority that did not permit compromise. After a period of silence, a hair-raising and suppressed laughter rang out, seeping into the icy night air. “Oh, already noticed, have you? Indeed, you are worthy of being an Executor who has experienced battle. Much more sensitive than that kid Kariya." From the darkness appeared a shadow without definite form. At first glance Kirei had even thought that it was a large pile of worms, a collection that would send a chill through anyone—but the bright moonlight immediately chased away this misconception; it was an old man, thin and small of stature, that quietly walked out. “Executor, you have no need to worry. I am not your enemy. I am the kin of that kid who is cooperating with you.” Since he named himself thus—in Kirei’s heart surfaced a suitable person. “Matō Zōken… is it not?” “Indeed. You even know my name. It seems that Tōsaka instructs his disciples well.” The old magus quirked a corner of the lips deeply hidden in wrinkles, revealing an inhuman smile. Matō Zōken – The man before him was the mastermind behind the Matō family, a presence known but never seen. Kotomine Kirei’s senses couldn’t help but go on the alert. There was a small, short figure that had deliberately chosen to stand in a dark corner of the night street, a place that bright lights could not illuminate. Contrary to his shriveled and aged appearance, this man was an extremely dangerous entity; Tokiomi had told Kirei this time after time. Although he had publicly declared that he was retired and no longer cared for the businesses of the outside world, he was an abnormality that covertly used the secret arts of magecraft to prolong his life and rule over the Matō house for generations. In a way, he was far more dangerous than the actual Master of the family, Kariya. This old man was someone who required special attention. “Kotomine Kirei. I heard that you’re the son of that stubborn and honest Risei. Is that so?” “That is true.” Kirei nodded to show agreement when he heard the question asked by this hoarse voice. “Hmph – what a surprise. It is often said that heroes come from the most unexpected places. There must be some truth to it. I didn’t think that man could sire a son as wily and deceitful as you.” “What do you want, Matō Zōken?” Kirei ignored the old magus’s provocation and demanded an answer. “You should be on Kariya’s side, so why did you have to hide here and eavesdrop on us?” “What are you talking about? I’m just a parent worried about his child. I wanted to see with my own eyes what kind of helper that child Kariya got for himself.” He deliberately pretended to smile like a doting grandfather, but that skeletal, shriveled countenance was markedly different from that of normal humans. It was obvious that his face, with such a structure, would never have such a smile. “I heard everything you said to Kariya to appease him. You seem to want to get rid of the son of the Tōsaka house.” “That is true. That man killed my father –” “Be quiet. Don’t repeat such a lie twice.” Those deep-set eyes, buried in wrinkles, glistened with a keen light and stared at Kirei. “Kotomine Kirei, you’ve gone too far with your petty trickery. You even dared to act behind Tōsaka’s back; you’ve overstepped your boundaries. You don’t need Kariya’s hand to kill Tokiomi at all, not since the moment you decided to get rid of him. You must have prepared for every eventuality – I’m not so old that I’m turning senile. You might be able to trick Kariya, but don’t you dare think you can trick me too.” “…” Kirei quietly improved his evaluation of this old magus in his mind, but he maintained his mask of calm. “Your goal isn’t the son of the Tōsaka house, but Kariya himself. Isn’t it?” “… If you doubt me so, then why didn’t you stop Kariya?” A bone-chilling creaking sound, like the muted chirping of a hoard of insects, resonated. Kirei only understood it to be the sound of this old man’s suppressed laughter after a few moments. “Hmm, how should I say this… you can say it is simply out of my curiosity. I want to see what methods you would use to ‘destroy’ Kariya. I am very interested in this.” “… Zōken, can you really watch Kariya, who is fighting for the Matō house, have his chances of victory destroyed little by little?” “Chances of victory? Kariya? Hmph, such things never existed. If that piece of trash can obtain the Holy Grail, then the past three bouts of slaughter would all seem like a comedy show.” “I don’t quite understand. Isn’t the Matō house also one of the Three Noble Families of the Beginning, one that craves the Holy Grail?” Hearing Kirei’s question, Zōken gave a cold snort. “I think the Tōsaka son and those of the Einsbern house are all idiots. If they remember the details from the last battle of the previous war, then they should understand that there is something odd with this fourth Heaven’s Feel, and be alert towards it. "I saw through the battle for this round from the start. Truth be told, just by looking at that despicable Caster at the start of the War, we should have been able to tell that the summoning didn’t call forth a Heroic Spirit, but an evil spirit far removed from heroes. Without a doubt, something has begun to err within the Heaven’s Feel system. We need to solve this problem first.” This odd man, who had overcome ordinary humanity, had likely been present in every single Heaven’s Feel. This man Matō Zōken had grasped something that even the previous Supervisor, Kotomine Risei, had not known about. “Then why did you let Kariya and Berserker participate? If you only wanted to watch from the sidelines, then why did you even prepare a Servant?” “That’s not the reason. Although there were some dubious elements, it is still a grand ceremony held every 60 years, after all. It wouldn’t have been interesting to watch the children fumble around. Therefore, I found a unique method for me to enjoy the event.” Zōken said with a tone of ridicule. His mouth tilted even more, and there were smiles all over his face. “Of course, if that failure really grabbed the Grail, then there’s no better outcome. Despite what I say, I really am impatient. "Just seeing how Kariya, who betrayed me, suffers in pain day by day – I honestly can’t get enough of it. I desire the Matō house’s victory, but I’m also tempted by the thought of observing Kariya’s defeated and helpless end. How conflicted I am!” Zōken’s hoarse laughter was truly piercing to Kirei’s ears. How much better would it have been had they met on the battlefield and fought for their lives not with words, but with swords? He could not help thinking that even though he knew the other was a very dangerous old magus. It seemed that Kirei already found the existence of Matō Zōken to be unbearable. Faced with the inquisition from Kirei, who was trying his best to hide the true feelings in his heart, Zōken lifted his eyebrows as if deliberately mocking the other man. “Ahhh, how surprising. I thought you would've been able to understand my joy.” “– What did you say?” “I may look old, Kotomine Kirei, but my nose is still very sensitive. You have the same smell as I do. You’re like a maggot that crawled here, attracted by the piece of rotting meat that Kariya is.” “…” Kirei remained quiet, but slowly drew out his Black Keys from within his frock. He now knew he could no longer persuade this old magus with reason, but they must fight to the death. Zōken had stepped into his range. He had entered the 'absolute territory' at the risk of his life. If he wanted to ensure his vitals remain safe, he could only use a killing strike, attacking the enemy head-on without any warning. If Zōken had thought of evading that strike at his vitals – an inevitably certain kill – Kirei would have no other choice but to confront him directly. Right now, Matō Zōken had already crossed this line - not with his feet, but with his words. However, Zōken still faced the cold killing intent emanating from Kirei with a casual smile. “…Oh? Did I overestimate you? I thought I’d finally managed to find a kindred spirit. It seems you still feel ashamed of your own heresy – hahaha, you’re still too inexperienced. Do you feel ashamed of these matters, such as a man would feel shame in indulging in self-pleasure?” There were no shows of strength, nor were there any warnings. Kirei simultaneously threw out two Black Keys at his left and his right in the blink of an eye, so fast that his preparatory movements couldn’t even be seen. It was as if he was going to pierce this old man’s body like a piece of barbeque meat. However, faced with those blades, Zōken remained completely unmoved. He was extremely nonchalant, and it was no empty boast. The silhouette of the old magus melted like mud moments before the two blades were about to pierce him through, and he once again became a shapeless shadow hiding in the corner. Kirei’s entire body tensed up. A voice full of happy mockery sounded from somewhere. “Ahh, scary, scary. You are young, but still a hound of the Church. It’ll definitely endanger my life if I mock you.” Kirei took up another Black Key and stared at the throbbing shadow in the darkness. Was it an illusion a moment ago, when he saw that he was just about to pierce Matō Zōken’s flesh? Or was it that Matō Zōken’s physical body didn’t even exist here? Any kind of extraordinary thing was possible when it came to this wily and devious old magus. If such trivial matters surprised Kirei, then he would not be suited to the role of Executor. “Honestly. Until next time, young man. You must nurture your personality so that you can be on equal footing with me the next time we meet. Hahahaha…” Zōken’s scent melted into the darkness and disappeared, leaving only a terrifying shrieking laughter. All that was left was the figure of Kirei, who stood holding his blade like a scarecrow. “…” Irritated, Kirei threw the Black Key, which had lost its target, on the roof. He hadn't imagined that this old man was a monster with no usable potential whatsoever. There was no reason to keep him alive. He was certain that Matō Zōken was a nemesis that he must eliminate sooner or later. it was missing a lot.Actually they cut the most important thing.Probably this will be like the 11 ep of the first season. @LostHanyou True even Ryuunusuke had more screen time(and a happy ending looking at it from a very twisted angle) |

HA. I told you it wasn't Rider who kidnapped Irisviel! Well, just... Kariya. I don't have much to say, but he flippin' snapped there! And honestly I feel so terrible for what he's gone through. It'd be hard retaining your mental state with all that crap that he had to deal with. And making Aoi come, that's just pure evil. What Kirei was saying about the wine, he's saying about doing evil - he's liking it. Ugh. Hate that guy with every fiber of my being. And Zouken, well, fuck him! Kirei and him should just go elope or something, on the grounds of their evilness. Oh, also agree that I do NOT want to see Rider and Waver go... I just can't imagine them dying. My heart would break. LAST THING: The animation during the motorcycle scene.... Man, I freaking drooled. A pile. |

@LostHanyou True even Ryuunusuke had more screen time(and a happy ending looking at it from a very twisted angle) Maybe those talking scene will be shown later...at least I hope so. I almost asked why the staff give a Rider vs Archer ep such a title...then I refered to LN and find half an ep of Kirei & Iri's conversation, and Iri's death. |

itsvero said: HA. Yeah I hate Kirei too but I love the part in FSN where he fights alone against Zouken and Assassin and literally kicks some ass...at least until Sakua came |

I always read all your spoiler stuff in terms of that.but eh, complaining will get me nowhere, though it will make the next episodes seems out of place if you haven't read the FSN VN. “… I have already sent him away. “…Oh? Another great episode. The chariot was toasted. Excalibur is amazing! But I am glad that team Rider lives on to see another week. My favourite team by a long shot! Saber riding her super awesome invisible air modified bike was totally made of win. But I didn't recall the guy being tortured by Kiritsugu, did they show him some time during the first half of the series? Next comes that bastard Zouken. I hope he gets the most pathetic death ever. He is the real scumbag in the anime alongside Caster and Ryuunusuke. I knew all along that Aoi would die, because I already knew in FSN that both of Rin's parents had passed away by the time Rin became one of the most amazing tsundere ever, but to know she died at the hand of Kariya, I was left saddened to the point I wished I didn't see this episode. 4 more episodes to go and I see Shirou has been listed in the series cast list. I can now safely think the anime will end where FSN kick's off. |

Actually I believe there won't be any epic fights next episode. I might be wrong, but there simply won't be enough room for that. They will most probably just animate the whole of Act 15. I was confused myself about it, because of Archer's line in preview about "not holding back", but then I remembered that he says similar words during his conversation with Kirei, warning him that he isn't going to concer himself too much with surroundings for the final battles. |

Saber's motorcycle scene was epic; but dang Kariya is freaken broken now; the only "good" in all of this is that it seems that Kiritsugu figured it out, or at least the majority of it, a Kiritsugu vs Kirei fight is inevitable; but a Archer vs Rider fight would be awesome first. |

Same pose, animations, but in bullet time :O. -Kariya's strangling Aoi scene was done nicely with the flashes of black and white, but I wish they showed more of their background than just her face smiling. -It's a shame we all know Zouken will not die (he is in F/SN >_>) |

Well this episode was pretty much a success. The coolest thing I liked was Saber- Rider duel and how Saber was riding dat motorcycle, SUGOI. Next - excalibur in all its power and Rider team living for another week (my favourite team so far). The thing I didn't like was Karyia killing Aoi, but shit happens, poor Rin though. Gotta hate Kirei-Giglamesh and the other bastard - Zouken. Sooooo, we are going to see a splendid episode next time hopefully (Rider- Giglamesh, Rider's Noble Phantasm anyone against Giglamesh anyone?). |

Totentanz said: So, Kirei finds a soulmate in Zouken, though it doesn't appear like he rejoices in this discovery, which is understandable. It seems not even Kirei is a match for a man sadistic enough to take pleasure in his own son's misfortune. Eh, Shirou's Kotomine's 'soulmate'. Both are empty men, if they find happiness in different means. Zouken is Kiritsugu gone very wrong to the point he forgot his real self and goal. All the agony Sakura and Kariya are experiencing? Those are cakeawalk to the pain Zouken endured (although he did choose to prolong his life this way). He went mad, his soul and mind deteriorated that he forgot he was this wide-eyed idealist who wanted to achieve a perfect heavenly world to honor the sacrifice of the woman he loved, Irisviel's ancestor/the Original 'Grail'. Also Zouken? He's actually nicer than the guy who hired Kiritsugu. Totentanz said: Once again it shows what a despicable being Gilgamesh is, reducing humans to mere tools for his entertainment and dismissing the tragedy unfolding before his very eyes as a poor first attempt of his servant, because that's what Kirei is in the end, just another pawn in the game. Not at all. Gilgamesh is kind and generous with his people. Kotomine happens to qualify (so did Tokiomi, but he wasn't a loved subject). This is important for his happiness, so he's teaching him how to enjoy himself after a life of nothing but endless emptiness and suffering. Kirei is far bigger antagonist than Gilgamesh is in FSN, in the end. Gilgamesh only steps on his game if Kirei dies. He likes the guy and wants to oversee his success. He gives his word to him in Fate/Zero conclusion. |

Then Kotomine is shot by Kiritsugu but the Grail brings him back. Waver becomes Lord El Melloi II, he destroys the Great Grail outside of Heaven's Feel route, opposing the dark designs of the Magic Association. As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all. |

But really Sakura gets the worms because they need to change her abilities to use Matou magic and so Zouken can control her. Kariya only gets the worms because he's pretty worthless for magecraft and needs to suddenly get more powerful to fight for the Grail in a short time. So even if Shinji was able to be a magus he shouldn't get the worm treatment since it's fatal eventually (as you can see from what it's done to Kariya so far) at least for men. |

Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all. |

Then Kotomine is shot by Kiritsugu but the Grail brings him back. Waver becomes Lord El Melloi II, he destroys the Great Grail outside of Heaven's Feel route, opposing the dark designs of the Magic Association. I guess it was for something he became "professor charisma". To be even more specific Gilgamesh also technically died, since his body was completely disintegrated. For any other Servant in his place it would mean instant annihilation, since their minds and souls would follow shortly. |

I'd say that they adapted that scene extremely well. |

Although even though she survives she's still permanently brain damaged thanks to what happened. |
