| The "hobo arc" is truly marvelous so far. Not only does it poke fun at the US army, but also the JSDF only a few chapters later. And all while dealing with a serious matter, but not straying from the formula of establishing that Kurosawa is a freaking badass. But my favorite joke so far has got to be him flapping his fat rolls around and entertaining the granny! That shit's hilarious! And so heartwarming to see him get along with her and not being judgemental. |
| This was such a sweet chapter. I think we can all learn from Kurosawa's wisdom earlier on in the chapter too, "in awkward times it's better to end the conversation and leave quickly!" I think Kurosawa pitied Akane at first, that's the vibe I got from him. Pity and confusion. Plus maybe even empathy on some level. So it was nice that he went to see her so happily as he brought her the food. He even extended an offer to eat with him instead of her rushing inside. At first I was worried Akane would be the Mikoko of this manga(from Kaiji) and I know there's one of that archetype in Zero too. However, she quickly showed concern for Kurosawa and unlike Sakaguchi she was able to laugh at and with his feral belly-jiggling side! It was genuine and sweet. Ono also showed how he can be darn reliable this chapter! He may be a violent meathead of a man but he is good at rallying people up and keeping order amongst them, you cannot take that from him!!! Lastly, I hope the gang didn't show up prior than expected... |
