Looks like Kanata has some history with Mari so it's interesting to see more of their relationship from the past.

This kinda felt like a buildup episode. No big cheering performances and more exploring the social lives of the cast. Just glad everyone can understand each other more and enjoy being together.

I really like all the drama and interactions between the characters in this show.

I'm glad they made up. Mari joining PoMPoMs was such a nice moment, although Anna wasn't too happy about it.

It seems Kanata is able to fly again, which is great. I'm so happy for her. :)

However, the post-credit scene with Mari suddenly disappearing was weird. I can only hope she comes back.

And I hope to see some happy cheering in the final episode.

Mari's falling out only puts Kanata in a disadvantage since she's the one who got the girls all flamed and feeling the heat with all the negative connotations, but for all the former's goodness and taking care of her juniors, the latter doesn't know how to approach her. Even Nabatame and didn't know much about Mari, as much as she's back into the cheerleading team after realizing that due to her leg injury, she could not perform like in the past. To make matters worse, her jealousy for Kanata to start flaming their content (which got out of hand) leading to the widespread controversy and her eventual resignation from the club, Ichigo keeping mum towards Nabatame is not going to bond the entire club together.

Megumi's talk with Mari, being the same dispirited person as Kanata, just willingly brushed off on the notion where everyone gets their differences resolved, it's an "OK, I forgive you" simple affair for Kanata, as Anna doesn't approve of her and Mari joining PoMPoMs as a way to atone for her mistakes. Being someone hard on herself to service to the people around her, all Mari ever wanted is to see Kanata fly again, and that's her ultimate goal regardless, as she moves away, never to be seen again.

That was quite the dissolution to a heated conflict, though it reeks of poor characterization and writing.

It was nice to see Kanata and Mari make up and be friends again although it did seem to be brushed away rather quickly. Really looking forward to the last episode and hope we get one last big performance from the girls.

I was so ready to be upset about the girls forgiving Mari so quickly, but when they showed her backstory and everything she went thru with the injury+ the genuineness with which she apologised I couldn’t hate on her.

She was going thru her own rough time and she didn’t have a group like Pompoms there to support her. Kanata could’ve easily ended up like that if she didn’t have her friends. Also, she’s a high school girl. They say and do nasty shit sometimes. It’s a learning experience.

I do like how Anna is kind of always the voice of reason in these moments tho. Like she always reacts just how I would(minus almost kicking Mari face in) 😂 totally normal to be apprehensive about forgiving Mari and letting her into the group

BUT in doing so, Kanata is finally able to fly again it seems. So mari was really the missing piece she needed for her confidence. But just as quickly as she appeared she’s gone.. I wonder if she transferred out of guilt or what happened 😢 finale next week man I’m gonna be sad when this ends

Mari-senpai, you can run but you can't hide from Kanata and the other PoMPoMs members.

@KANLen09 A bit strange chapter, to be the penultimate one. I see everything a little forced. prominence is given to a character like Mari, who in 10 chapters we have practically not seen and suddenly she is the person He makes kanata fly again and suddenly disappears, even though we all know he has problems very similar to kanata, but he just doesn't ask for help or support. For the last chapter you see everything Everything is very predictable, they will go looking for her, they will find her, a little more drama and she will rejoin the club, after solving her problems and end of the story

This episode did show us a good amount of Mari screentime, which helped to explain more into her own issues and what led to her posting that message that got PomPoms a lot of unnecessary hate online. You can see how much she regrets doing so, since she did break her club rules, hence why resigned herself.

Anna's frustration towards Mari was fully understandable, although I didn't expect Mari to request joining PomPoms, which the others said yes, although it took Anna a while to warm up to her.

The rest of the episode was smooth sailing as the group's morale improved a lot with Mari doing her part to help out here and there and in the post-credit scene, Kanata was able to fly once again, which her friend at the school club celebrated happily with her. Sadly, the episode ended with Mari not turning up to school, so it does make me wonder if she's either transferring to another school or simply refuses to go out of guilt.

With one episode left, there's still a few things that needs to be resolved, so I do worry that things might be rushed. Either way, I do hope it ends on a satisfying note. =)

Like Kanata, Mari also had difficulties returning to flying. The difference, however, is that Kanata had the support of the Pompoms, which likely caused Mari to feel a bit jealous of Kanata's improvement, leading to some of her comments. Fortunately, Mari recognized her mistake and ended up helping Kanata regain her ability to fly, though I'm still unclear about the part at the end where they mentioned Mari disappearing.

I really enjoy Anna's duality as a character. On one hand, she's cheerful and carefree, but when things get serious, she’s the one who takes it the most earnestly. Most of the time, she gets upset and refuses to accept simple formalities. I was honestly worried she might knock Mari's head off with a capoeira kick!

Anna almost knocked off Mari head with that move, holy shit.

I didn't expect Mari to joined and help Pompoms.

But what do you mean Mari senpai went away? WTF
One more episode left, let's see what they cooking for the Finale.

Looks like Mari was just frustrated at that moment but she soon regreted it. She somehow envies Kanata's cheerful attitude.

Out of the blue, she joined Pompoms. She wants to rub shoulders with Kanata as well as atone for her misbehaviour. She's an asset, though she has a perdonality clash with Anna.

@Ebb1993 don't let them hear you' I got flamed for saying the same thing.

Pacing sucks, the voice acting isn't great, the musical direction doesn't fit the show, there's basically nothing happening for multiple episodes and the only saving grace is "looks pretty," but apparently looks pretty can't make them do ACTUAL CHEERLEADING.

You didn't get flamed, you were called out for falsely claiming that this series was originally marketed as a competitive cheerleading anime.

@EverySportsAnime If this show was a lighthearted comedy in the style of Bring it On instead of having the same old stupid melodrama I keep seeing all the time in most modern anime...

I wasn't expecting that last final twist honestly.
This episode was quite interesting honestly, and the anime has been able to maintain the momentum of the last few episodes with the drama, and honestly, this Mari drama has been really interesting. I feel like Mari is a really interesting character that is bringing a lot to the story. On the other hand, I feel like the anime forgot a bit about the main cast, and we have been barely seeing any development from the other characters. Shion for example is pratically the same from th beginning. Not only that, but I feel like her role in the group and Nodoka's role in the group have been the same for the last few episodes, which is just weird, because they seem like the same character, with Nodoka only having the whole Yoga comedy thing.
Anyways, I'm really curious to see how the anime will wrap up, because I think they will want to wrap up with some kind of growth for the characters, and for me that's not going to work that well, because besides Anna, Kanata and Megumi, the rest of the cast has barely anything that proved us that they changed, like how suddenly they remembered last episode that Suzuha was trying to work on how she shows her emotions to others, when that was completely forgotten ever since episode 3.
Also, since when was Kanata not being able to fly since the comment? I believe it might be true, but they never stated that in the anime at all. This anime is really lacking a proper string of ideas to guide the anime, things are just starting to fall from the sky at this point, without much explanation.
Even so, these episodes are still better than the first 5 episodes. I also find it interesting how Anna is the only one that seems to have a truly distinct personality from the group, in episode 8 she was the only one that was hurt by Kanata's actions, and in this one she was the only one suspicious of Mari too, and didn't want her to enter the group, due to her disrespect for Kanata.

Mari gave in, I liked her attitude. Anna still doesn't seem to have forgiven 100%, but it seems like she's jealous of Mari.
