THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Not going to lie, this finale gave me the chills with the mind games. Emma, Ray, and Norman being trapped together but the man that was intimidating them is the one that drew blood.

We got tears being shed this episode too, even from Isabella. And that embrace too! Almost surreal to see.

Not a bad way to end this season although I will say that I had some mixed thoughts on Norman's character. This finale was okay imo. Emma's hug was kinda heartwarming in the last scene. Definitely not as good as the first season imo.

Disappointing. I never liked the franchise in the first place buh wow they ruined it very bad in this second season. Probably what annoyed me the most was Emma's "ideology" and how she was making everyone stupid in the process lol. 2/10 for the anime cuz the involuntary comedy.

They completely gave up on this episode, lmao - pretty much nonexistent animation, just a bunch of still frames compilations, introducing things out of nowhere, even shittier ending than there was in the manga...
Thank god this dogshit adaptation is over.

In the end, Peter Ratri sacrificed himself. What a shame for trying to make a utopia of your own standards.

The glancing of the journey thus far, and finally all reunited together, which is basically Emma's utiliarian dream realized: for all Grace Field Sisters and children to go through the rite of passage into the human world. Alas, Emma's job isn't done quite just yet: to fix the entire demon world to change the world for the better for all just like William Minerva, with Sonju and Mujika, the Lambda reject teens, and Ray and Norman.

Sending the kids away to the human world is the Promise of a heartfelt moment, especially for Phil.

This finale ended in a better way than I've expected, though it's no consolation that it's the manga ending in the format of a PowerPoint presentation montage, without the whole lore of what's been cut out.

Quite an emotional episode. So many emotions in this episode. Quite heartfelt and not a bad season IMO.
Honestly, I haven't read the manga yet so, I don't know how much better it is in the manga. I'm gonna ignore the fact that the manga is better and rate it on the basis of anime-only until then.
I personally enjoyed the season. Not bad at all. Don't know what they skipped and how much better the story might've been. But definitely not better than season 1.
Okay, gonna go read the manga now.

Edit: Now that I've read the manga, decreasing the score to a 3. LOL

Anddd as I expected, a cluster fuck of a finale. Pacing was wonky and all over the place. Things that should have emotional significance dont because they happened too damn fast for you to even dare, art and animation were meh at best.. you can tell CW put all their eggs(pun intended) in one basket this season. I’m just glad this all over now.

It’s really a shame because season 2 had no reason not to be a 8.7 or higher. Goldy Pond is one of the best shonen arcs I’ve read. If you’re going to rework/rewrite the series, it should’ve been what came AFTER that, not before. S2 should’ve been exclusively GP like how S2 of Dr. Stone was stone wars. They could’ve easily milked another 12 ep season after that too. The pacing would’ve been better, the tension and mystery would’ve been better, etc.

Shame really, but it’s been fun watching with all of y’all week in and week out and laughing at this wreck that we once loved.

decent final episode i guess, ratri killed himself and the kids made it back to the human world. 2/10.

wow! that was utter garbage

i joked with my friend that there were three options that the second half of the final episode could take: an ambiguous ending, a "wrap things up in a 2 minute montage" ending, or a weird fucking season 3. and they did the second option and i'm laughing out of anger
horrible presentation, a terrible clusterfuck of information being jammed into one episode, bad enough to drop the show to a 1/10

genuinely not sure how you could follow this without reading the manga given all of the stupid manga factoids they jammed in at the last minute

These last 3 episodes were one the worst things I have ever watched.
3 / 10
Because the first half of the season was enjoyable, even though manga readers were acting crazy.
But these last 3 episodes are not enjoyable for anyone.

The Promised Neverland should have never gotten such a garbage second season.

Comparing this to attack on titan reveal's of outside world..
WHAT A JOKE!
never been i felt so lacklusting on an ending so mediocre.. and just.. empty.. This season was devoid of any thrill the s1 had.. the plot went so many places but no actual route..
the Plot twists were so uncalled for that they just felt weird.. Atleast the Ratri guy had enuf of Emma's BS and commited sudoku..
5/10..

Tbh I’m glad I dropped this anime after episode 1 of season 1 when the 2 kids were somehow able to escape the truck without being seen by the demons and Isabella. Didnt care for season 1 being well reviewed, it just felt like you had to accept plot convenience to enjoy the ride.

It seems like I made a good decision not investing time on this anime/story. I’ll miss reading the weekly episode threads from season 2 tho, wildly entertaining.

What the hell was with that huge timeskip at the end? Did they really just show there a bunch of random pictures/montage that was supposed to tell the story of this huge "changing of the demon world" and that was the the end?

I haven't read the manga, but I'm honestly dissapointed. They could at least let some main character die, so there would be a bit of drama.

Honestly as an anime only watcher, the show was good up the end. I don't know if the manga does this too but the end is just a straight up slid show. I was really expecting a third season but it just speedran everything and just time skipped to like 5 years later. The whole ending just ended giving me a sense of missing out.

good show, bad ending. ( but better than no ending, i guess...)

Just noticed this as I was making a video about this episode. Ratri's knife that he uses to off himself is clean after he cut his jugular? Then when ratri looks at the hit he got completed on his brother, at first I thought my pc was lagging but his mouth moves once or twice in a 10 second long clip. Im pretty sure only around 6 minutes of this episode were original new animated content the rest was either a powerpoint presentation or a flashback. What the actual heck happened to cloverworks. They managed to hit the mark with horimiya and wonder egg even if they needed a one week gap with egg but they did the same with tpn yet why did tpn come out like this? Hope a fma brotherhood happens to this series as well, since I would hoenstly enjoy a more cohesive story with actual pacing.

Despite the rushed pace, leaps in logic and complete departure from what made the first season great, I was really enjoying the series. This episode, however, was when it finally dropped the ball, in my opinion. The rushed pace really, really destroyed the finale. Honestly, just seeing the children (and adults) get acclimatized to the human world would have made for an interesting few episodes in and of itself. Why and how were the human leaders so accepting of them and why would they allow them to reintegrate into society? Don't they have any stake in upholding the promise made between the worlds? So, so many interesting questions left unanswered and unexplored.

And not to mention the fact that they actually showed Emma and the gang returning at the end. Seriously? That's far, far worse then ending the series with their fates left unknown. Why even bother having that tearful farewell if they're just going to be reunited at the end? Now, it's feels like they just deliberately skipped over all the cool parts.

Laslty, I know they pretty much left out a ton of their characterization for the sudden reveal and twist, but I really wished we got to see more of Isabella and the Sisters. Yeah, they did explore Isabella's past in the previous season, but I don't feel they did a good enough job in reconciling the two sides of her personality, the practical side and the caring side.

The sequel wasn't as intense as the first season, but I've got a soft spot for happy endings no matter how far fetched or cliched they may seem. So the ending was nice and heartwarming imo.

Hmm so brothers of blood yet on two diverging paths that they took based on their beliefs. In the end the chances that diplomacy will win was close to nil. Still at least the children did reach the human world. Must be quite the sight for the people there. Back in their world its nice that with Mujika's help that they were able to bring new hope to the people. Well in the end its nice that there was a happy ending for everyone.

Dear me, what a mess, only now do they decide to actually show the queen and the nobles because gee willikers it's not like they were important earlier on in the story, I bet all the anime onlies were just confused as hell as to who they were and I would be too if I was an anime only. They seriously brought The One back, and put some dragon there for some dumbass reason, and didn't even bother to tell how Emma got there, like how the hell would she know where to go without Mujika telling her to go to the Seven Walls, and what about all that crap The One did in that world when Emma and Ray tried to go there in the manga, guess Emma's plot armor just plowed through it. That ending montage man, they just gave up on drawing faces, it's so obvious they just didn't care anymore, and neither did the audience, can't wait to see how low this dreadful dreck will go

Me to the manga after this ending that was somehow 20 million times worse:

Wow. I'm speechless. And not in the good way. What the actual fuck was this finale. As much shit as the manga got for being good up to a certain point before falling off, at least it had a proper ending that was at least decent.

This on the other hand? Awful. Just fucking awful. No tension, no stakes, literally everything worked out perfectly and everything went according to plan with few mishaps. These kids have to have the most luck and convenience that I've ever seen in anime. Just....wow this season was terrible. And apparently this was what the mangaka wanted? Bruh, should have just let them adapt the story properly. I know anime adaptations don't always have to be 1:1, and I honestly welcome it when liberties are taken when adapting something as long as it enhances the enjoyment of the story, but with this, the source material was right there. In this case, just copying the source material that has been laid out for you would have been better than whatever ridiculous changes were implemented here. Well whatever, thank god this sorry excuse of an "adaptation" is finally over.

EDIT: I just realized, despite how terrible this ending was, it could have easily led into an S3 that actually explores the main trio and co. staying behind to fix their world. Hell, it could have even retroactively adapted the skipped arcs and retroactively introduced the omitted characters. I'm sure certain details would have had to undergo changes, but based on how much was changed in this season I don't think that would really be too big a deal lol. Oh well, that's never going to happen.

That montage at the end could have easily been a season on its own. It could have been some sort of pseudo-adaptation of Goldy Pond and the confrontation against Leglavalima.
The cardinal sin this season commited for me was not showing Lewis. He was the only reason I was hyped for this shit but he didn't even get a cameo. It's also terrible how didn't show the mass production farms (the most deeply disturbing scene from the manga), or the full Julius Ratley backstory. Leglavalima showing the faces of all the people she ate was another cool scene I was looking forward too.

The ending was incredible . It was so fucking good .My Mujika are now the new leader for the demons and will do the right thing

But then all the sudden I got the sweetest Yuri candy I have eaten for a long time

My little lesbians Emma and Mujika was embracing each other in the sunset,,,,YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

That was easily my favorite moment in the whole anime. My lesbian ship have sailed and that makes me so happy .I had high hopes for that ship and now it is IMO confirmed,,,YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

There are some elements I didn't like in this anime as the pacing. But after my lesbians many romantic moments together I couldn't care much for anything else

So I give this anime 10/10 .It have deserved it  And I got my precious Yuri ending it made me so happy

Awwwwwwwwww my little lesbian lovebirds are so cute together❤

I find it rather amusing that despite all the tears the characters shed, the only thing that made me cry was how annoyed I was that this is it? Like damn who in the production watched Charlotte, thought their idea of cramming loads into the last ep was good and said “hold my beer” and crammed as much as possible into a couple-minute long PowerPoint presentation??? Off to read the manga I go, even though I’m aware that has a poor ending too, so it just feels like a lose-lose.

Gotta say just meh all around. I watched this far because season 1 was so good I felt I owed it to this franchise. Unfortunately the execution of this season was terrible in almost every facet. The only good thing about this season was the art, op, and the ed. Other than that it felt like a lot of contrived narrative choices that were half baked at best. Overall not the worst thing of all time so 4/10. I’m looking forward to see how Cloverworks will finish Wonder Egg though because that’s amazing. Clearly they put more effort in that and were just trying to end Season 2 as quickly as possible.

so, in ratri's flashback we saw minerva doing things for the kids, which implies he knew about stuff like the books right? But he let them still be there? Make it make sense. Also holy shit when Emma was like i'm staying behind i was like ARE THEY SETTING UP A THIRD SEASON IM GONNA BE PISSED. They instead went to do a slideshow of what it would be lol. Yeah this ending was shit. This season was shit. i feel so robbed and pissed, but i'm glad its finally over and I can erase that it ever happened from my mind. I never thought they'd be able to make the pacing worse in the last episode but they decided to wrap three skipped arcs up into a slideshow. lol. what a show.
