THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
this episode was alright, animation is still pretty good too. they formed a team and seems like story and characters are progressing decently. with the tournament and ranking things i can see some potential here. cool team name they decidedon, i like it.

just thinking but am i the only one who thinks this concept would work better as a game then an anime? also, was the episode 1 discussion removed? i cant seem to find it anywhere

We saw a great team duel in this episode, with the enemy teams believing in probabilities and calculations, little did they know statistics isnt everything, especially when you are dueling the main characters, plot armor OP hahaha

In all seriousness, nice atmosphere for the whole duel, I like how this spin-off differs from the originals. WIXOSS is truly wonderful in all forms.

So the name of the team is No Limit... well it was a bit interesting, the other team had a nice character design, even though it's a bit childish it's better than nothing, now I want to see how they'll become better for the team, and I hope that they'll not win every battle

No matter the WIXOSS, it still has the characters that talk down to people lol.

Felt better than last week's overall positive episode, let's just see how the plot continues, The characters are pretty nice and cute.

So far it seems it will be a "battle of the week" format but that will get boring if they just win every time so hopefully something spices things up.

It's leaving me cold so far. I'm struggling to get into the characters and their motivations as I've seen all of it a thousand times over in other media. Hirana feels like a completely misplaced Shonen protagonist, and what drew me to Wixoss in the first place is that it was completely unlike the classical Shonen card-game anime.

Honestly WIXOSS always starts sort-of like this. All Moe and stuff. Then it pulls a Madoka on you.

Been watching it since the first season came out in 2014 and it has about the same topic. Stuff starts out fine and then episode 3 or 4 starts getting dark and then episode 10 you're crying. Interesting that they'd *keep* using this formula after 7 years. Original WIXOSS had a similar mixed reception at the start because of it.

Also this episode mentions the Eternal Girl concept again. We all know where that's headed.

Me at the start of the battle: "I kind of hope our girls lose this one just to take 'em down a peg. It will be good for their characters to experience defeat once early on."

Me when they start shit-talking and card-counting: "I've changed my mind, beat them to a pulp."

Hirana is such a protagonist and honestly, I kind of love it! I'm still half waiting for the other shoe to drop and these Diva Battle turn dark, but really, I wouldn't be mad if they don't at this point. That said, there are a number of hints that say it will eventually make that turn, the most suspicious of which is little miss 'Frankenstein's Monster's Bride' what was doing the card counting and probability calculating. We see the other two members outside in reality, but she was only shown to us through a computer screen, and was in her "avatar" before Wishing In. She might be a true LRIG.

I didn't notice this. Alongside the "malfunction" she had when the statistics turned.

That and the mention of the Eternal Girls makes me sure it'll make the same sort of turn as Lostorage.

Yuzuki was freaking out from episode 1 at the prospect of losing and we immediately get the wincest plotline dropped on us right off the bat. Hitoe is a wreck of a human being from the moment we meet her and Akira just runs her into the ground.

No, Wixoss definitely plays its cards right off the bat and ramps them up over time. It's a silly argument. Lostorage's first episode plays with the idea Suzuko could deadass just lose her memories right off the bat as she only started with 1 coin and was running from the battle at every point.

Conflated has Kiyoy's whole "yo that LRIG killed my friend" recap from Peeping Analyze.

And, if I remember correctly, Selector Spread opens on Ruuko suffering from the aftermath of Selector Infected.

No Wixoss has been this low-stakes for this long.

I mean yeah. But the first 2 episodes of Selector Infected were quite tame compared to anything afterwards. Seems like they wanted to reboot some stuff here so they started very low-stakes.

You're right though, this one is definitely way way more low-stakes than even Selector Infected. Conflated was the second season of that one, so I expected it to start stronger.

Technically Lostorage was a spinoff and this one is also a spinoff, so we gotta have some buildup. But you're absolutely right when you say Lostorage started off very strong.

My point is more that there's no reason to assume this will get dark based on past patterns, when past pattern would say that it should already be hinting at something. All we have for now are callbacks, which are not convincing evidence to me.

Even then, I don't inherently mind a more low-stakes show. It can work.

My problems with this one, however, is that there's nothing grabbing me. The characters are shallow, the script is superficial and generic and I really don't like the protagonist we got.

The show makes a big deal of selector points and entertaining the audience last episode, then we get absolutely none of that here.

I'm very much judging this by its own merits and finding it wanting. Infected did grab my right from the first episode, but this hasn't, and my interest is already slipping.

Yeah. I was left wondering what happened with the audience aswell. Wasn't that very important? It was pretty much ignored here.
Well, I usually give stuff 4 or 5 episodes before considering to drop it, and even if it hasn't quite grabbed me yet, it hasn't gone the opposite way either.

About the dark part: kinda hoping it does, tbh. Wouldn't be too happy if it doesn't, mostly because that's what I *expect* from this series. But it could also go the other way, which I wouldn't be too keen on.

Guess I gotta wait a week more and see how it goes.

No Limit is definitely a much better name than no name for these girls. xD

Decent episode on the whole, I do hope there's more to it in the following episodes though.

One thing I still don't get. How exactly does their attack system work? Is it explained in previous seasons?

Good job team NO NAME. Errr... I mean team NO LIMIT. They should stick with NO NAME, it's a cool team name.
I also noticed that Frankenstein's Monster is not a human, she might be LRIG or some kind of AI. We might see more of her kinds in the future.

I literally knew what the teamname would be after I heard Hirana's 'catchphrase'.
Pretty okay/good episode overall, I hope things will spice up in the next episodes. :)

2 girls interested in Rei.
Tamago hakase.
Rei tells them to not reveal her secret.
The team name.
Akino bath scene? Lets go!!!!!!
Rei watches Hirana and Akino.
Universe's Beginning.
Hirana tied the game.
Owner is so fine. Dat oppai.

Nice ED song by UB. LAWD! Owner continues to be so fine and Akino as well. Wish we got to see Akino nipples. Can't give us a bath scene with no nipples. They increased Hirana's oppai size for her real body. lol Did they forget to shrink it? Hajimari no LRIG cameo. Wish they kept No Name so I can post Kingdom Hearts gifs.
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).
