| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Robio and Robiette. Well we got the Fly and now we've got Romeo & Juliet. It was a fine take on that story, the most recent version of Romeo & Juliet I saw was probably the Gonzo anime, so this was definitely more true to form than that. I think outside of Chibolt this didn't really work on an emotional level, it felt like the feud here was more important than Robio & Robiette's relationship, which I honestly don't know if that's true for the original, I feel like the feud should be the conflict for them but the focus on them, but I'm also not a big fan of Romeo & Juliet anyway. Regardless, Chibolt was always a pretty cool robot, from his confessing to cheating, to him defending Astro in the police station by saying he was the only one who threw the spears, and finally his last act being to clear Astro's name. He was my favourite part of the story. I liked that the name of the two feuding doctors lead into puns as they apologize to each-other, and I guess the ending with Robio & Robiette was more sweeter than the tragedy of the original, I prefer the bittersweet nature here. |
| I loved this chapter. It's Romeo and Juliet, but with robots. That makes it a little generic since Sheakspears masterpiece has been done to the death, but Tezuka made it work really well. Also I like that Robio and Robiette aren't dead, but instead continue to live as one. |
