| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- I got so excited reading this chapter. Every thought of victory in this scramble between the three players built up the final reveal more and more. It reminded me of the chapter “Harada’s trap” in that it was largely self spoiled, we all knew this was coming and it played with that to make it as thrilling as possible. Washio drew “a tile of death” and Hiroyuki saved him from his imminent fall with the same play that Nangou and Ogami did earlier, a look of determination and everything. He caught him as he fell only to "show his blade for the first and final time", the dirty hope that made Washio respect Hiroyuki a little was the final step to stabbing him and taking the spot for himself. What a cruel situation Washio was put in, his salvation from the tile of death was his own demise. No one suspected Hiroyuki, it got too frantic to even worry about him, he’d even fool a demon as Ten said(so much cool wordplay). His quiet “ron” which shocked everyone was about the coolest thing he could ever do. Good stuff Hiroyuki, I wrote about team betrayals early on, but I didn’t expect this outcome back then! I don’t think I even mentioned him in it! The battle which lasted 22 chapters has finished and the showdown round is set. As much as Hiroyuki and Ten were obviously going to win, Fukumoto made their qualifying rounds ecstatic and I have no qualms with that. It was about the best way one could deal with such a situation. The weight of the games before the real showdown was constantly building and it feels like a long night, the tension is relieved and although there is much more to come, this feels like much progress has been made. We can already see Hiroyuki turning into a new man… |
| Oh my god, what a deliciously evil move! Hiroyuki, the absolute madman, he did it! And poor Washio... that one must sting a lot. But I have to say, this was a great match! And we're not even at the final showdown yet. I am so excited! |
