----------------------------------------
Table A: Harada and Nangou versus Hiroyuki and Ken.
Table B: Soga and Akutsu versus Washio and Kanamitsu.
Table C: Sakaguchi and Mitsui versus Akagi and Ginji.

What can we know about these? Well Ten and Ken both suggest the only way Table A can turn out good for the east is through a tricky surprise attack. It has the main boss and one of the notable west players we’ve already met against the two kids. Table B’s Soga is legendary and set up to face Akagi so we can be pretty sure he’ll be okay, Akutsu was also mentioned to be great yet may be on the same level as the east players. Table C is an interesting one, as far as I know Sakaguchi and Mitsui were not people we met. That, and the fact that we got ample time exploring Ginji and Akagi make me assume we have more in store of them, and well, Akagi winning this should be pretty undeniable.

Now enough theory crafting. It was a delight to see Harada measure these young boys and eat them alive. He was showing them the vastness of this world, playing around their styles and especially crushing Hiroyuki’s logic. His laughs were great and I love that he took a moment to question Hiroyuki’s place here. If he can’t help Ken then he doesn’t deserve a seat! He even took a moment to teach him a lesson about gambling, he criticized his reliance on logic and expressed that using it as he does becomes an excuse. Whenever talk like this happens it reminds me of the criticism of players in blackjack which exclaim “I did the right play” even when losing. Either way he reminded me of Akagi here. Last chapter there was a bit of a parallel between the two’s lack of humility, Harada describing the east as “kids and washed up old men” and Akagi describing Soga as “senile old fool”. Here it was simply the act of measuring his opponents and calling out what he deemed as their lack of skill or worthlessness.

Hiroyuki might be logical, but even his logic is flawed: He said it was a "double no chance" wait, but with only three tiles visible to him, it would be a "one chance" wait. Though it's more likely that it is just another translation error.

He really should play it 100% safe and let Ken do his thing. Especially now that he's so far behind and probably has to take the hit and drop out. Though if I had to wager a guess, it would be that Ken has to take a gamble and make a risky discard, in order to stay in tenpai for a monster hand, but ends up dealing into the bad guy's hand, dropping to last place, and letting Hiroyuki advance. At least that's the direction I think this is heading.
