THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow I'm surprised nobody made a thread for this yet! Great action yet again and am glad they covered what was easily the most anticipated match over the three TV seasons. 10/10 for me, I love this show! |
I'm Bruneian and I like anime. And Manchester United. And fat cats. |

I typed while I watched the film. I had many feels, and LOL, it’s long, so I have it in the spoiler button. ^^ I'm happy to see the intro!! Mayuzumi and Akashi, the Uncrowned Kings... *____* And new shots of GoM. <3 ;______; Oh c'mon...the beginning started off with when the coach already told Aomine that he doesn't need to come to practice. :( (off-screen here) And Akashi was still hesitant to agree... Then it goes off with Murasakibara saying he doesn't want to practice anymore. T___T Oh no… -> "Besides, I've only been listening to you because I thought I couldn't beat you," and "I don't want to listen to someone weaker than me." :( Akashi was so pissed, he simply placed his hand on Momoi's shoulder and said, "Move." Momoi couldn't stop Akashi and Murasakibara from fighting, even though she wanted to and tried to step in... x( No wonder Momoi felt so powerless, watching the Generation of Miracles grow apart... I got reminded of when Momoi asked Kuroko about their promise of the Generation of Miracles being friends forever, and then she cried alone under the cheery blossoms, as she watched Kuroko go home by himself, since he used to walk with the others… It just hurts to see the boys grow apart. </3 Akashi bounced the ball so hard, when he picked it up for a one-on-one, which really reinforced his anger! X( The emperor music that came when the other Akashi was awakened... T_____T Then we went straight to Rakuzan and Shutoku's match, my favourite. <33 My heart softened up a bit, seeing Murasakibara come watch with two pocky sticks in his mouth. <3 The first quarter was recapped nicely. Midorima's continuous, flawless three-pointers. And Akashi being careful... The game got so intense with Kotarou's dribbles, and each of the Rakuzan players cornering the Shutoku players, without Akashi having done anything yet ._____. "I don't know of anyone who holds me back on this team." <-- Midorima defending his teammates <33 And Midorima's smile when Miyaji patted him and said, "Nice pass." <3 I love that moment when the photographers snapped pictures of Midorima's high trajectory three! XD And that intensity when Akashi said, "I will take on Shintaro," which is the moment we've all been waiting for!! XD Akashi taking the ball from Midorima, and Akashi's ankle break. <33 I love seeing the senpais motivate Takao and Midorima to get up again after the 20-point difference! And those flashbacks of Miyaji and Otsubo being strict during practice, and Kimura bringing watermelons for the team... ;_______; I would love to see more Shutoku moments, to be honest. <3 "I must trust my teammates more than I trust myself. It's not enough for me to do everything I possibly can. But I am certain. There isn't a man on this team who hasn't done everything humanly possible!" MIDORIMA!!! T_____T Such beautiful words, from the person who used to only trust himself!! I just love Midorima’s change. <33 (This brings me a smile, because I remember Midorima passing the ball to Kise when the Generation of Miracles played streetball on Kuroko’s birthday :’)) The amazement and shock when Midorima caught Takao's ball mid-air and shot a three-pointer never gets old!! <3 YES! That calm ending theme song by OLDCODEX, when Midorima recognized there was no shame in falling down, and he ran to stop Akashi from dunking!! >< "You think I'd be Shin-chan's partner if I lost my cool over this? Don't underestimate me!" <-- I just LOVE Takao's pride!! Takao's pride as Midorima's partner, and pride in himself!! :') OH NO!! The music made that moment so hopeful, when Takao passed Reo and Mayuzumi, and when he passed the ball to Shin-chan.... ;_______; But the music STOPPED when Akashi blocked the pass to Midorima!! </3 I watched this entire season, so I knew what was going to happen....but damn :'( That was so intense. <3 And then the emperor music appeared, when Akashi dribbled and shot!! T_____T And the TERROR when Takao realized, Akashi intentionally slowed himself down during the first half, which was why Takao's Hawk Eye didn't aid him this time... </3 Midorima also didn’t realize Akashi laid out the groundwork of their game from the beginning… :( At that moment, Akashi truly demonstrated his point about basketball and shogi being no different from each other. It’s just sad, because Midorima hasn’t been able to beat Akashi in anything. >< Akashi is indeed the emperor. He not only has amazing physical and mental capabilities, but he also has wonderful strategies. It was sad to see Shutoku lose... The Uncrowned Kings were amazing; Kotarou's fast dribbles, Nebuya's muscle ability, and Reo's greediness since he fouled while getting a three-pointer. :/ That moment when Midorima falls from Akashi's ankle break, and Akashi looks down at his former teammate, as he said, "Sleep now, veteran kings." I feel so sad for Midorima and his teammates ;________; And I actually feel bad, that Rakuzan has pressure from being the emperors, so they expect to win and don't show overwhelming happiness whenever they do win... x( Winning is just a duty. Where is the fun??? "Huh? Shin-chan, are you heartbroken? But... Sorry. I can't console you now." <-- ='( Takao is usually goofy, but to hear him say this and cry...I feel sad. Midorima, Takao, Miyaji, Otsubo, and Kimura all worked hard!! It hurts to see Midorima cry too. I really wanted to see a game where Shutoku wins. </3 Midorima was nice for returning Kagami's ring to him. :) "I didn't think you'd reach Akashi. You've done well." I love that the intense Teiko music made its return!! *____* Midorima's a sweet guy, for acknowledging Seirin, and saying he'll watch the Rakuzan vs. Seirin game once he's done his match against Kaijo. It got a little nostalgic, when Takao and Kuroko were together while Midorima and Kagami talked...it really did feel like the previous summer, when they had their training camp together. x) But it's different now, since Takao and Midorima were still sad from losing… :( It felt nice to see all of the teams come to watch Rakuzan vs. Seirin!! Touou (including their hot coach, Harasawa!!) came. LOL at Susa for telling Aomine, "We're a hundred times smarter than you!" This comment reminded me of a Kuroko’s Basketball –Replace– novel chapter, where Touou had to do their stupid ace's homework, or else Aomine wouldn't have been allowed to play a game... xD LOL that both of the Touou and Yosen's captains said the same thing: "I can't believe we're watching the finals together. Is it going to snow later?" And both of their aces told them to "shut up." Poor Okamura still gets made fun of for his butt-chin! XD If this series ever comes back, I’d love to see more Yosen as well!! I just love Murasakibara and Aomine's serious talk. <33 Murasakibara cared enough, to ask Aomine who he thinks will win. Regarding third place, Aomine knew Kaijo can't manage without Kise, so it's already been decided that Shutoku will win... It would have been nice, to include that moment where Midorima said he and Kise will play again, when our Kaijo player is in good shape. And everyone is uncertain about finals. Loved that Seiho, Shinkyo, Riko's father Kagetora, Josei, Kirisaki Daīchi >< and Mitobe's siblings came. :) I really wanted this series to continue to the Generation of Miracles’ second year, where they’d play against these teams again, and we’d get to learn more about everyone!! Honestly!! *____* Akashi looks nice in that long-sleeve warm-up sweater <33 LOL, why did I picture Kuroko missing Akashi's pass, like an NG-shuu? And Akashi's smile, "I see. I accept your challenge" and both Akashi and Kuroko had their teammates pose behind them!! >< seogeeg aeg ergge r Loved that the music changed to the 3rd season GoM intro. Akashi's "You're getting carried away" to Kagami was so accurate. Going into the ZONE as soon as the game started... @.@ I love Imayoshi's line -> "Akashi isn't unbeatable because he has Emperor Eye. He's unbeatable because of how he uses it." I'm so curious to see what a game between Touou and Rakuzan would be like!! T____T With Aomine and Akashi on the court... Imayoshi is so smart, imagine what Touou would do! It would be hilarious to see Sakurai and Reo go against each other too!! Sakurai apologizing constantly, and Mibuchi maybe using his flirtatious or friendly speech...? xD Oh ho ~ foreshadowing when Reo dodged Kuroko and even apologized! Usually people get surprised due to Kuroko's lack of presence. The shock on everyone's faces when Reo intercepted Kuroko's pass! Even the audience saw Kuroko! >< "I can't bear to watch this folly. How could you abandon your greatest strength? ... When you learned to shine dimly, you ceased being a shadow. No longer the Phantom Sixth Man, you're worth less than the average player. And you didn't notice until now. You disappoint me, Tetsuya." <-- Although Akashi's words didn't sound pleasant to the ears, he's kind for informing Kuroko, even though they're no longer on in Teiko. Basically, Akashi didn't have to tell the person from the opposing team (Kuroko) about how his lack of presence is no longer in use or effective. Akashi could have let everyone in Seirin continue with their confusion, and get more and more points... I think Akashi is actually kind. He really could have said nothing. Akashi still has the heart of a captain to Kuroko, like their Teiko days. :-) Oh ~ the shock when it's revealed Mayuzumi is the new Phantom Sixth Man never gets old. ^^ LOL, Hanamiya is a jerk, but I have to admit...I actually like his voice and hearing him make smart comments on the players. I like Hanamiya's "He's seriously going for it?", since he knew about Reo's shots. :P His intro to Reo's 'Void' shot was very clear. xD If Hanamiya was…less of a jerk (?), I may have liked him. X) "Mibuchi is the better shooter." <33 Yes, Imayoshi, you're right. :) Hyuga did look up to Mibuchi's shots after all. – LOL at Imayoshi's "What's up with centers? Do they all have to be loud?" :P Poor Wakamatsu got offended... But Nebuya's "Muscle Screen Out!" and "Muscle Rebound" were ridiculous! Even Mibuchi got annoyed at Nebuya's muscle titles. :P Imayoshi had true words again; since Hyuga and Kiyoshi support the team's outside and inside respectively, breaking those two is like breaking the Seirin's legs. Love Hanamiya's attitude to this game! It's very true that one can expect Seirin to score against Rakuzan, but they would still get pushed out by stronger players. OMG! That was an awesome play!! Akashi dribbled and Izuki got screened by Kotarou. Then Akashi ankle-broke Kagami, and Izuki tried to get the ball away, but Akashi passed to Mayuzumi. Mayuzumi wondered if Akashi was excited since it was unusual, but realized the captain just wanted to show off, and then passed it back to Akashi who was already in the air and dunked. <33 That was all so exciting to watch!! *__* I wish Murasakibara's narration remained true throughout the game… ~___~ "Miracles don't happen. They can't even win with one." </3 LOL! Love that Takao's spirit came back! <33 "We came because someone threw a tantrum over watching the game, but..." and Midorima's "It wasn't a tantrum." XD Midorima wanted to see Akashi vs. Kuroko, this tsundere <33 Although Midorima says he doesn’t intend or need to cheer for Akashi, he low-key supports both of his friends. :P Honestly, when Kuroko cries, I feel like crying. ;_______; And I just love that Kuroko never fails to surprise the Generation of Miracles, since they were all very shocked that he stepped back on the court, despite just crying and feeling so glum earlier <33 I had a bad feeling, when Kuroko marked Mayuzumi and our third year kept scoring points... >< KUROKO!! :D "Sorry, but I still consider myself the Phantom Sixth Man!" YES, NO ONE CAN REPLACE YOU!! The Phantom Sixth Man is Kuroko’s identity as a basketball player, and also a significant recognition of who he was during his Teiko days with his friends. <33 And OMG, I love that hopeful vibe when the last OP played, and Midorima explained that Kuroko overwrote Mayuzumi, so Mayuzumi was actually more noticeable than Kuroko. :) Love Akashi’s left-hand pass to Reo. <33 And Mayuzumi reflexively passing Kuroko despite knowing he shouldn’t do that…I love that this was a moment to reinforce that being the Phantom Sixth Man is about, “an ironclad rationality capable of supressing instinct. The new Phantom Sixth Man may be more skilled, but there’s one way in which he can’t beat Kurokocchi. His history as the sixth man and his will to fight for the team. In other words,” “The weight of his resolve to be a shadow,” and “Kagami’s stopping Akashi on defense, and they’re scoring with Kuroko’s passes on offense.” :) Hearing Kise say these words reinforced why the he and the other Generation of Miracles respect Kuroko so much. <3 I love GoM’s shock expressions when Akashi went into the Zone <33 It was so epic when Akashi did his ankle break, and had Hyuga and Izuki go on their knees <33 OHH!! That was a cool moment, when Kuroko took the ball from Akashi!! Kuroko’s Quasi-Emperor Eye; he only looked at Kagami, so by predicting Kagami’s move, he moved in the opposite direction, while Akashi was only focused on Kagami. (But seriously, since this is Akashi, I’d expect him to have strategies laid out like when they played against Shutoku. -_____- Fujimaki used plot armor, since he just wanted Seirin to win…) “I’ve never seen Akashi like this. He’s less composed than he’s ever been. He’s unsettled, which means he’s distracted.” :’( Oh Aomine, I wish this wasn’t so… Poor Akashi was leaving the Zone. And that shocked expression on Akashi’s face when Hyuga intercepted his pass to Mibuchi!! >< It was tragic when the other Akashi spoke…. ;______; “You’re at your limit.” “Don’t be absurd! I can’t lose!” “Give up. You can’t win anymore.” “Shut up! I will win. I have until now, and I always will! And all of this happened when Akashi was losing… Izuki took the ball away from Akashi, and Kiyoshi intercepted his attempt to place the ball through the hoop. X( And that serious look on Kuroko’s face, as his focus was on Akashi… ;( It’s sad to hear the internal discussion between Akashi’s selves, which showed his pressure of winning… I love it when Mayuzumi tells Akashi off. “You’re embarrassing yourself. Did you think I’d console or encourage you? I’d never do that. After everything you said, this is all you can do? I don’t think so. In fact, who are you?” And these words really triggered Akashi to have a one-on-one with his other self, and come back. :) But damn, that Teiko flashback… “I was trying to save it by winning. Something irreplaceable. I didn’t know what else to do. That weakness gave birth to you.” :’( Those happy Teiko days were gone…in order to keep the team, to have them to continue playing and winning, even if everyone stopped playing happily together, Akashi’s other self emerged. “Desiring only victory and abandoning all else, I lost sight of why I wanted to be stronger.” T_______T “And now you’re about to make the same mistake.” The other self was surprised that the same mistake would resurface… Of course, no one would want what happened to Teiko to reoccur in Rakuzan. It’s lovely that Akashi recognized having his other self surface during his Teiko days didn’t save the Generation of Miracles’ bond, and that his other self was not needed to maintain Rakuzan. :’) “Our guilt will stay with us forever.” <- I wish it didn’t :’( Akashi did the best he could, both in middle school and high school… “I thought it couldn’t hurt to lose. But it seems I was wrong.” :) “It’s because we’re playing Kuroko. We can’t suppress our impulse to win.” WELCOME BACK AKASHI!!! “How dare you ask who I am?” ;) IT WAS SO TOUCHING WHEN AKASHI SMILED AND SAID, “It’s been a while, Kuroko.” <33 T______T Akashi has returned!! And he managed to dodge both of Kagami and Kuroko’s attempts. And when he passed to Mibuchi <33 #FEELS Kise: That pass told me everything. I love that GoM knew too <33Midorima: Those are the passes we received. Murasakibara: Which means.. Aomine: Akashi is back to his old self. Midorima was right -> “Perfect passes create perfect rhythm.” <33 The Uncrowned Kings and Mayuzumi looked so much happier!! :D Akashi’s truly awesome, being capable of drawing out his teammates’ potentials. I love that he managed to pull his teammates into the Zone. Kuroko was such a cutie, when he told Kagami that they could carry the burden of their game together!! :’) And ZERO plays <33 Kasamatsu’s “That was good!” was basically ME right there!! Reo called out “Sei-chan!” to Akashi, and Akashi passed the ball to Kotarou while looking at Mibuchi!! That was so smooth, during their intense man-to-man defense!! <333 I’m so sad Kotarou’s double clutch attempt failed, since Kagami and Hyuga intercepted ;_____; Akashi: What was that? We caught Seirin off guard, but they all reacted immediately. <- Unfortunately, this is Fujimaki putting plot armor on Seirin -____- I’m still iffy about Fujimaki’s claim that the true Zone is fighting as a team. Since Rakuzan were in the Zone, they were playing as a team! Synchronizing their movements with Kagami’s Zone just with one glance... -____- NO!! When Izuki intercepted Mibuchi’s pass to Nebuya!! T____T I never wanted Seirin to win…. Damn, that was an intense moment when Akashi ran to block Kagami, and then Izuki passed the ball to Hyuga. Mibuchi recognized that the pass Hyuga received would be guaranteed to go in… All of the shooting guards from the other teams knew; Mibuchi’s “This pass…”, Kaijo’s Moriyama’s “A coincidence?”, Shutoku’s Midorima’s “But it was equal to Akashi’s passes,” Touou’s Sakurai’s “They’ll make it,” and Yosen’s Himuro’s “For sure.” I really like this shooting guard unity. *___* Hyuga’s fuel on a three-pointer… I know Mibuchi likes to do it, but I was like, “Really?” when Hyuga did it. Seirin really was desperate to win… <.< Mibuchi’s “Sorry, guys” and Akashi’s “Don’t apologize. Now isn’t the time to blame yourself” made me squeal!! It’s so great to see Akashi come back, and he’s not threatening anyone <33 He’s such a great leader!! My fangirl heart couldn’t take it when he wiped his sweat on his shirt. I got FEELS when Akashi tried to block Kuroko, “It’s over, Kuroko!” and Kuroko looked up with a smile, “No, not yet. I am a shadow.” And Kuroko’s phantom shot happened!! XD (I rolled my eyes when Kagami dunked lol.) It’s still disappointing that Seirin won through a buzzer beater. But I’m only happy that Kuroko’s happy. <3 Akashi: ]I lost. So this is defeat. This is awful. It’s hard to describe this pain in my chest. I don’t think I can stay composed until we line up. But that’s why…I’m glad I played basketball. And I’m glad I met you. You… No, your team won. Congratulations. And prepare yourselves. Next time, we’ll win. :’( This was all SO touching!! Akashi learned what defeat is, but he was still very grateful for playing basketball and meeting Kuroko…the Generation of Miracles. – Everything. Now, Akashi’s going to play basketball as a team, not by himself. It made me happier to see Akashi smile, and look forward to future games. :) And Kuroko used both hands to shake Akashi’s hand!! >< The true Akashi and Kuroko finally reunited and reformed their friendship!! <3 + that narration at the end was BEAUTIFUL! Kise, Midorima, Akashi, and Kuroko proudly stood in line with their medals. Aomine and Murasakibara walked away after an intense match… :) They were all ready to play basketball, with their own styles. They’ve all changed after playing against Kuroko. :-)Kuroko: Yes. Let’s play again. And again and again and again. Yes. Again and again. This isn’t the end of everything. In fact, this is just the beginning. We will fight by playing the game we love again and again. A fulfilling ending!! A beautiful recap <33 I just love how GORGEOUS Akashi is in that end-card!! Happy to see Mayuzumi too. Midorima and Takao are always fun to see together. xD |

I haven't finished the movie yet, but man Shutoku vs Rakuzan is undoubtedly one of my favorite matches. The way that the ED insert song gets cut off so abruptly as Akashi stole Takao's pass gave me chills. Even knowing that it was coming, that sudden transition into Akashi's dominance was just so intense. |
