I didn't like this direction, it didn't feel like 'Touch'. Was the new girl necessary? Minami is quitting gymnastics? Harada won the lottery? Uesugi is going to become a pro Baseball Player? maybe that's not too unthinkable but playing for the Red Sox!. I would have love to see a Koushien montage or at least see how Eijiro is doing. The best part of this special was Nishimura breakdown. I'm confident I'm going to hate the sequel. 4/10 ☺

well this was more dedicated to the relationship between minami and taachan. So yea it is kinda different then what Touch is. But hey I kinda like what they did with it and it is nice to see more intimacy between the two.

I have to admit i was seriously suffering in this movie...

1) when minami was running off after that bitch mizuno lied to her and was being held by nitta (seriously pissed)

2) when minami almost kissed nitta i was like grinding my teeth in frustration (kuyashii) thank god she stopped before the eventual kiss or id have probably punched and broken my monitor

I mean they finally got it right in the end but I dont get it.

They both love each other why cant they just be together. It doesn't make any sense... if you love someone you want to be with them, be around them. Why the forced and contrived separation? I think thats the only failing with touch and why I cant rate it a 10.

Tatsuya should be with Minami from the koshien victory on... the fact they aren't together frankly baffles me. Even with kazuyas ghost hanging over their heads it still doesn't make sense.
Dont be a chitogetard!!!!

Waste of time. Although I'm well aware this film is no more than a poor filler cash-in, it made me hate Tatsuya even more for being as unworthy of Minami's love as ever. He's always known what the person he (supposedly) loves more than anyone wants, and what would make her happy... but he NEVER does anything about it because he's a complete and utter coward.

Like catullus said, it doesn't make any sense for them not to have gotten together... hell, they should have gotten together during their high school years, let alone three years later, when both are fully grown adults! As much as I love Minami, she's in a league of her own compared to Touch's pathetic, gutless lead, and there's no way she should (or would, realistically) force herself to live the life of a nun for a loser. The only emotion I felt whilst watching this was anger at how much she was (and still is, since it isn't over!) made to suffer as a result of falling for trash...

I think the worst thing about this movie is that, based on Tatsuya's inaction in the original story, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine him STILL messing Minami around, three years after a confession was forced out of his worthless arse. Even in the final chapter of the manga Nitta asked him if he'd had "seconds" (idc) with Minami, six months or so after the confession (iirc) and he answered by saying no.

The real blame for this woeful attempt at going over old ground and still ending horribly lies with Adachi. He's the one who went out of his depth (back then, at least), following Kazuya's death - preventing the main two having a mature relationship. And he's also the one ended the story without making Minami's second (and most important dream) into reality; not even having them get intimate over the course of his 26 volume series.

...Still, you have to wonder what the anime studio writers were thinking when they came up with this. It's obvious as obvious can be that what Touch fans want to see more than anything is Minami and Tatsuya together/a wedding. But, instead, they opted to create forced drama by making Tatsuya quit baseball for no reason and not having entered into a relationship with Minami; also for no reason. And, of course, a totally pointless, scheming filler woman got chucked in for even more boring as hell drama. Yawn.

The only two plus points of this movie were Nishimura's suffering (his bad arm) and Nitta staying true to himself. The way Nishimura's baseball career went was actually believable after his struggles during his high school years, and Nitta acted like he always had done previously with poor Minami; being there to comfort her but never forcing himself on her. Everything else was awful - the art included since there was no source material to work with and it was seemingly made on the cheap, around ten years after the TV series ended.

Honestly, I no longer care enough after enduring a painful filler-filled 90 minutes to watch another filler-filled 90 minutes for entertainment. But I'm going to do it anyway, simply to be able to say I've seen everything the Touch anime has to offer. It'll probably bore me to tears if there's as little Minami time in the fifth film as mentioned in its thread, but at least I *PROBABLY* won't have to endure any more of Tatsuya needing to be told to show his love to the most lovely 2D woman in existence... right?

The movie was kind of bleh since there was not much baseball, but I loved seeing the characters sorta grown up, especially Harada and his lottery beard. I actually liked Mizuno a little but with Eijiro already having introduced the sibling kind of relationship, I don't think it was needed.

I like the movie overall, but it really didn't need to be this long. The kiss scene made it worth it though.

The movie wasn't too bad, but it was completely unbelievable how Tatsuya just quit baseball and still hadn't become close to Minami.

Mizuno was a useless character... waste of time, literally.

Also, that was a ridiculous line for Minami to say just as she was about to kiss Nitta, I literally burst out laughing when she said it.. I mean "please save me"? That is one seriously harsh way to reject Nitta..

Why the bloody **** did Tatsuya decide to go all the way to America in the end?! I know it ties in with the next movie, but ffs surely there are teams in Japan he should be trying out for.. I swear to god, it must be just another excuse to have a new filler girl show up in the next movie and then have more mulling over the "distance" in the relationship between Tatsuya and Minami again =_=

Best thing about this movie, by far, was Nishimura's end... his career path was believable, and did make me a bit emotional when he broke down and started crying in the end..

I also loved it when Nitta, in his anger, went up to Tatsuya and yelled at him for ignoring Minami... finally someone had the guts to shout at him..

Harada was great as always... lol'd at the beard..

Tatsuya just dived 6 ft below sea level. i don't understand his point of quitting baseball when his deal with Kazuya was already done with koushien. After he confess to Minami, he just let their relationship stagnate wtf?! did he get some kind of malfunction in his hormones and just decided to just forget his confession and leave Minami in misery waiting for him to make the move?! She always make the moves even in the tv series. Lol the movie just made tatsuya a spineless idiot of a man lmao. He is so not deserving of Minami. She should have just left that guy and tour around the world with her gymnastics lol.

I agree with HawthorneKitty that it was cool to see the characters grown up, like a sort of "Where they are now" type of thing. The ending was cute. I didn't really care for Mizuno at all. The title song was very good.

That Mizuno is b*tch after all. Glad she go.
Minami should go with Nitta, but I don't know why inside me doesn't want that happen. Gladly, it doesn't happen.
Poor Nishimura, he doesn't deserved that injury though but it's life after all.

I am not really fond of this direction. The conversation feels meh for me

Well, that opening with another version of the song of the first OP was nice!

I actually felt a bit bad for Nishimura here, I thought that he was done with baseball after he lost his last game during high school, but he went through a surgery, and continued to play even though it was helpless, it might've been hard. But he was still mistreating Suzuko, nice to finally know her name btw. He didn't want to have her around when he was in a roll, but he threw himself in her arms when he was in the pits, it was like she is only a convenient person to be there for him when he needs it. I thought that he had changed, and learned to value her, but this might have happened this time. She brought important people to witness his end as a player after all, and it was hard to watch too, but they were there for him.

Now, the girl, Mizuno. She was a bit crazy wasn't she? Getting so obsessed with a stranger because they had some similarities on their background, going as far as lying to the girl she knows he likes, just to give up on him suddenly after summer, and she didn't even tell him about what she said to Minami, but welp.

Nitta was still the best option for Minami too, he was there for her, and he comforted her more than Tacchan ever did, and even though I know that you can't force yourself to feel what you don't, it's a pity that Minami wasn't able to break free from Tacchan. Even now, even though they both 'love' each other, he is still making her wait, I don't see why he can't simply formalize their relationship or tell her that he loves her more often, it's not like she isn't going to 'wait forever' for him anyways. It's so frustrating, and I don't see why she had to give up on gymnastics or why she came to the conclusion that she was only thinking about herself for doing something for herself, what a 'sin'! But I guess that now that she will stay put at home waiting for her precious beloved, maybe things will work out someday when she becomes an 'old hag'. I mean, this one was better than the rest at least.

I liked, how they didn't show any scene about Kaori telling truth to TATSUYA that she lied to MINAMI. There was no place for misunderstanding at all. It shows that their (MINAMI & TATSUYA's) bond was strong enough to not get broken by few lies by Kaori. It made worth watching.
For this only reason, i give it 8/10.

For me "Love is not about yourself, but all about the one you love. Only the one you love matters for you. Love has no place for Misunderstanding. DEVOTION".

I don't really get why this was made honestly, 12 or so years after the anime finished who decided we needed to know about what happened three years later? It kinda felt like they were forcing drama throughout the entire thing just to end up in the same place we left off at, although I guess it's slightly stronger?

It's not bad by any means, it just feels unnecessary. Nishimura didn't deserve what happened to him to be honest, and Sazaki still going after Yuka while funny is also kinda sad, she won't be getting Tatsuya but Sazaki isn't that bad. It's a shame we didn't get to see Eijiro to at least see how he is doing, they brought everyone else back so we should've had a small cameo from him.

I'm a bit annoyed that if you go from the anime to the movies, you basically miss parts that are referenced ONLY in the manga because they decided to skip several in the anime, like Harada lining up for the lottery and THE ACTUAL CONFESSION by the river bank to name a few. I guess you could argue that THIS was where the REAL confession was but it still should've been in the anime.

Pretty much this. Nothing more need to be said.

I liked this movie, even though not much baseball, the romance development was pretty interesting. Nice seeing all the characters after the 3 years even though it was incredibly devastating to see Nishimura's last moments as pitcher. Mizuno is quite a b!tch for the lies she told Minami (heck even Yuka wasn't that bad) all because of some weird obsession. Can't really blame Minami for going out with Nitta despite not being in the right mindset because of those lies. Kinda dislike how that doofus Tacchan still has to be told by both the true legend Harada and even Nitta before taking any action. Still nice ending to the movie with Minami confessing this time and Tatsuya being determined to make it in the baseball world in an area where Kazuya's name is unkown and won't haunt him.

Piece of SHITS! How DARE they wipe 101 episodes of development! HOW DARE they strip disposition from so MANY characters! Hahaha it made me laugh when Minami said "save me" because of HOW FUCKING STUPID THAT WAS — c'mon, since when is "accidentally speaking out loud" an actual thing (sorry you one-in-a-million that has an actual problem like that)? It could be just slightly justified if Minami were prone to that kind of thing, but that has not happened ONCE (well obviously, since that's called fucking "poor writing").

Is this movie cannon?
"Humans are like isolated islands, floating in the sea of fate.
Human encounters are like the collision of these lonely islands, and once they touch, there would be an effect. Sometimes, the islands would stick together, in the name of ‘interest’, ‘kinship’, ‘friendship’, ‘love’ and ‘hate’. But eventually, they would separate, walking towards the path of destruction.

This is the truth behind life."

"Miss Lonely Yesterday", the 4th Touch movie seems to take its title from an insert song in the movie.
I wondered if this movie was a sequel to og Touch TV show or the 3 summary movies. Since Yuka exists in this movie Ig it's supposed to be a sequel to the TV show taking 5 years later.

The movie basically started off with the news about Kacchan's death. Right in the kokoro. I don't mind the change of artstyle cos it's basically expected as this movie was made more than 11 years after the original anime ended. It's just the ears that put me off. Once you see it, it's hard to ignore. The inclusion of the "Touch" 1st OP didn't feel right to me. It gave off the impression of this movie being a nostalgia-bait. But even so I actually enjoyed this movie a lot more than the first 3 movies combined. But holy hell are there so many things wrong in this movie.

Regarding Mizuno "Kaori". I understand that this movie needed a plot. But did it really need an original character and a suspense thriller revolving her like this? It feels out of place in the narrative of Touch. She felt suspicious at first (I don't like the vibe girls like her give off) then after she's caught doing construction work at the street by Tacchan I felt sorry for her but after that when she straight up lied to Minami I realized she was a bitch after all. And she stayed that way even till the end. She basically played Tacchan by barging into his relationship with Minami and then conveniently bailing out basically telling him "lol good luck fixing your shit with Minami by yourself bucko". Oh and the "twist" about her being a twin was predictable.

Ngl Minami near the end of the movie doing gymnastics move was beautiful. But I don't understand why she decided to quit after seeing Tacchan quit baseball. Her character is more involved in this movie than the trilogy mess of before but compared to the show it seemed to have devolved...

Now some of the more apparent complaints of mine.
Why didn't Nitta give up on Minami? And Nishimura? And also Yuka on Tacchan? Sasaki still being Yuka simp is funny but pathetic. Maybe he'll get pity coochie cos Tacchan's in US and she doesn't seem the type to follow him.
Anyways more on Nitta Akio and Asakura Minami. The shitty anime original take returns. The script writer is the same guy according to MAL and he really seems to like that ship. It boggles my mind that Minami closed her eyes and even got ready for a kiss but then she still mentioned Tacchan to "save her". Honestly Nitta didn't deserve this kind of disrespect.

I still remember the creepy things Nishimura did in og Touch. But even then I don't see the point of bringing him back and only to redo what the anime did but make it feel way worse. It felt like the movie was trying to fill in gaps for the sake of extending the length of the movie. The only thing that changed about Nishimura's school baseball club manager is her voice...

I appreciated the return of all the characters I mentioned so far. But where the hell is Kashiwaba? The demon coach needed to re-appear to tell us how he's doing as that's basically what this movie is, to tell us what the characters might be doing after the events of the original. I don't suppose he'll make an appearance in the next movie.

The strangest thing about this movie is the overall lack of baseball. I'll admit I didn't watch Touch for its baseball games. But Tatsuya not playing a single match was a bit odd even for me. It felt like Part 1 of the TV series which I have mixed feelings about.
I thought this movie is going to be a 2-parter by introducing problems and resolving them in its sequel which released about 3 years later. But the movie kind of automatically fixes all these issues after the hour and fourteen minutes mark. It's like they were playing it safe in case this movie didn't do well and "Cross Road" wasn't guaranteed. But Ig the movie did well enough for it to happen.

My comment seems negative but like I said I largely still enjoyed this movie. I just wish it wasn't so predictable and retread the same grounds as the TV series which made it pointless. I understand now why these "reunion" type of stories normally aren't given to well-beloved series.

I genuinely don't get this dumb take. It's almost like you were the same person who wrote the script for the movie which by the way, has absolutely horrible writing that doesn't respect the original TV series.

Why should Minami be so demanding and why should there be so much expectations on Tacchan? Tacchan had to work his ass off the whole entire TV series and he managed to achieve 4 dreams at once by entering Koshie in the end. He couldn't even play at Koshien without Minami and he expressed the strongest feelings one can to a person in japanese, "Aishiteru". which shows how much he really loves Minami. How is Nitta's feelings for Minami comparable?

I'm sorry but if Minami can't trust and believe Tacchan despite knowing him for nearly two decades then I don't even know what to say. Like, she somehow believed some bimbo trying to tell her how Tacchan feels which makes zero sense. Minami should know Tacchan better than anyone. You people love to put the blame onto the male and have unreasonable expectations. This is all garbage writing at the end of the day and isn't canon whatsoever since it's not written by Adachi.

Nah, Nitta deserves it. He basically took advantage of Minami when she was vulnerable. Why is he touching someone's girl when he doesn't know jack shit about the context. He should be completely aware that Minami and Kacchan are meant to be so it's just laughable that he somehow got his hopes up. Like, how does he still have feelings for a girl, years later knowing that things aren't meant to be? It's unrealistic and stupid. Anyways, the end result should not be a surprise for him whatsoever. I would have so much respect for him if he actually tried to fix the issue much between the two much earlier, because if you genuinely love the person, you would do what's right.
