I was wondering about how many people that had never played the games are watching this series.

So far I have played all of the occidental releases, but I'm planning to start Investigations 2...

Also, to the people that have never played the games, what do you think about the series so far?

I know that one of my friends that hasn't played the games is watching the series, and so far she is enjoying it quite a lot.

I played the games long before watching the anime, which I was a little disappointed about. I think it's one of those anime that you say "play the games, don't watch the anime."

I love the Ace Attorney games so much :3c

You should definitely start it. It's arguably one of "debeste" games in the series

HAHAHA YOU DESERVE A COOKIE FOR THAT ^O^
The translators really did a great job in pulling off the official-release look...xD

I've played all the games and loved them all. No matter what anyone says, I can see the anime going in a good direction too (especially the Edgeworth case we're on right now)

Yup, Have played them all.

To me, it seems like the anime was meant for people who have played at least the original 3 sagas, for a newcomer, this is pretty rought, even more rough if they were thinking of using this to promote Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice.

But as far as anime adaptations go, it suffers from the usual issues, there's only so much you can cram in a 25 min episode, something will always have to be cut/removed.

This feels like a love letter to fans, albeit a poorly written one, but its the intention that counts :).

But on the other hand, if you have played the games, watching the Anime seems pretty pointless. I'm not all that far into it, but so far it seems to be close enough to the game to actually serve as a walkthrough.

First game was released in 2001 (2005 for the DS remake). Even though I've replayed it a couple of times, watching the show now is a good nostalgia trip. Now I want to replay it again while I wait for Spirit of Justice!

I've played all main games from 1 to 5, both Investigations games, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney and I also watched the movie adaption of AA1 and I greatly enjoy and love the anime.

So far I've only finished the first game, and Dual Destinies.
It's been fun watching how they adapted the game into different episodes. I'm looking forward to seeing it through completely fresh eyes. I'm sure it won't effect my enjoyment of the rest of the games once I get to them :)

Played all the games (just started Investigations 2 and about halfway through the crossover) and was immediately turned off by the Anime. To be fair, they improved a bit with the Steel Samurai case and you can tell they actually cared what they were doing with DL-6, but overall, it's still lacking greatly, especially the poor animation and the mostly lazy translation into another medium.
Not worth recommending in my book, but I know I'll stick with it till the end, mostly for loving the games and characters so much. Even though the Anime doesn't quite seem to "get" all of them, but I understand that's just nitpicking on my part.

My biggest problem actually lies within the meta: A1 is clearly doing it for name recognition rather than actually having an idea on how to translate it properly into another medium, it's definitely not a passion project. I saw Bokumachi the season before Ace Attorney started airing and even though it wasn't perfect, there was a ton of love put into it that it felt so much more engaging than Ace Attorney, Re:Zero - though not an A1-show - shows the same spirit I'm talking about and aired alongside AA, so...

I KNOW they could do better and as someone who deeply cares about the franchise, it's heartbreaking they don't...

There is nothing terribly wrong with feeling lost, so long as that feeling precedes some plan on your part to actually do something about it. Too often a person grows complacent with their disillusionment, wearing their discomfort like a favorite shirt - Johnny C.

i've played the first game but i started getting busy with a few stuff (mostly watching anime and playing other video games) and totally forgot to continue the rest. when i knew about the anime adaptation, i decided to just continue by watching the anime. i might continue playing the games after the anime is finished airing.
so far, i've been enjoying the anime quite a lot

I've played all the releases before Dual Destinies and the cross-over with Professor Layton (all on 3ds, so, yeah, someday I'm gonna buy it but it's not for now despite I'm so eager of trying those and AA6 too).
The first trilogy is awesome, although JFA is my least favourite (the circus case was so meh).
Ace Attorney Investigations deserves an anime too, it's really "debeste" as someone said. Not that, the adaptation was quite the letdown, especially the animation and the graphic quality. Everything was just too rushed so, to everyone starting this anime, I highly recommend they play the game and then watch this. The most appreciable thing about the adaptation, was the original episode with Phoenix & Co. as children, which explained also the myth of Pess, Miles' dog (remember how it was supposed to be a sort of joke thrown by the director/producer?)

I've played the original trilogy, Apollo Justice, Investigations 1, Layton Vs and AA 5. (So whatever has been available so far)
I'm looking for a rom/translation for Investigations 2.

The anime, while being far from how perfect it could've been, is still really enjoyable for me. I've always wanted a AA anime, and now I have one. That alone makes me happy. :)

For the games im actually quite new (playing the first game now) and follow the rest of the game via YT (in this case Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice (Gyakuten Saiban 6) only saw some spin offs but i might have plan to play it (AA Investigations))

The game itself has its own charms like the characters, soundtracks, etc.

Now about the anime, yes i know its dissapoints a lot of people and making people questioning more if this series good or not. But from my personal view i think its good and enjoyable at best. Sure there are a lot of mistakes, sure it isnt has the ton on love or spirit that is given like example this quote :

But its good so far. I mean its still has signature/the iconic thing from the game. And the characters... just the best it is. Can't wait too see how they handle the Justice for All arc/game adaptation for now. If its still bad im still gonna watch it just because i enjoyed this series a lot.

Is it bad that, of all the games in the series that have been released outside of Japan, Justice For All is the only one I haven't played?

I've played all of the games, Investigations 2 and Layton crossover included, aside from the one with Sherlock Holmes.

And I find this anime adaptation really disappointing because it doesn't really feel like it hits the same highs as the games do.

I've played the original trilogy, Apollo Justice, and the first Ace Attorney Investigations one. Too bad they never licensed the 2nd Investigations game in America, for some strange reason.

No, I know that Nintendo of America has failed us there.
Actually, I'm currently looking for a rom like you mentioned...

Yes, I have actually. Currently also playing the Investigations duology and I really like the game mechanics there.

I have never watched the anime and I don't really want to either, I think Phoenix with the voice of Yuki Kaji sounds really immature...

Anyways I LOVED the trilogy and the final cases in each game are superb, especially in Justice for All and Trials & Tribulations (Bridge to the Turnabout is a masterpiece).

I played the trilogy and watched two playthroughs of it over the years.

I guess it makes sense that the anime and game are in contradiction with each other... but I don't like it.
