The audience is just loving this game lol

A highlight of the match imo was that collision from Seiko's team though. That really looked nasty from the position, speed, and impact....damn. Seriously though, it's almost pretty much a desperate move. This match so far imo is living up to the hype. Very exciting!

F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All those injuries flags on Miyuki! WHY?!?!?! Why did they have to go this route :/

Really loving Tsune's personality and all. He's a great and formidable opponent but F*** HIM!! If this caused an injury on Miyuki that will effect him in the long term.

Really didn't expect this to go into extra innings. Tsune's unstoppable O_o
Great to see Sawamura is playing well tho. If Miyuki's injury isn't serious this should be fun.

That amazing return throw and brutal collision. Damnit, if Miyuki's injured... I suppose it'll be an opportunity for the pitchers to grow some more, but please don't let it last. The episode started out rather little stilted, but at least it came back to good form for that.

How long will these extra innings hold?

Why the hell didn't Tsune get penalized for that bull rush at home plate? He wasn't even close to making it before Miyuki had the ball in his mitt but he still went home. He should have been the reason his team lost. I'm worried that they will actually win this because of that bs.

I guess the buster posey rule dont apply in japan eh, or maybe when this ep's manga was drawn it wasnt established yet, else he would definitely have been ejected for the catcher tackle.

That Seiko person should've at least gotten some sort of penalty. Pisses me off.

Miyuki's most likely injured now, Furuya got injured again, I wonder what seido is going to do if they win this and go to finals. Like that's their ace and captain.

Seido is barely managing to hold on in their defensive game, while their offensive is pretty much still getting shut down quite fast which is hardly a good thing. An unexpected hit from one other than Miyuki would awesome - Sawamura hits a home run!

But things are looking quite grim for Seido, as every Seiko's batters are quite the threat.

If the catcher is blocking home plate, the runner is allowed to "run through him" to get to home plate. But it basically allows him to try to dislodge the ball from the catchers glove to they won't be called out. In America, the rule has been changed since it could lead to injuries. But this was written before the rule change, and in Japan no less. So what he did was completely legal.

I was really hoping Sawamura would get a hit this game... Ever since he hit Furuyas pitch I've been waiting for him to do it in an actual game. Didn't expect this game to go extra innings but now that it has I hope it doesn't go for too long.

Ikr, highlight of the first half of the episode was definitely Eijun's amazing pick off! No one could've expected him to pull it off so perfectly, especially how focused he seemed to on the batter. He's really grown so much (yes I've said this a billion times), I still remember that fail pick off in the beginning of the serious, lol. Also, that amazing dive for the bunt, anyone? Eijun is extremely focused in the match. I guess while Furuya's great performance on the mound made Eijun overthink, it also made Eijun calm down at the same time.

MsChii said:

That was pretty funny XD

I feel like there's a point to Eijun being a buntmaster, I mean Toujou was pretty surprised at Eijun immediately making contact with the ball even with his advice to Eijun. But maybe Eijun will forever be only successful at bunting...

Ugh, Tsune ramming into Miyuki...I can see why they changed the rule in America, because Miyuki is definitely not uninjured after that football tackle (in addition to the pitch to his shoulder blade by Tsune...). I loved that look Miyuki gave Tsune though after being taken down. Just like you, Tsune, Miyuki is unwilling to give up.

Yea exactly, the rule was changed after the 2011 MLB season when Buster Posey, catcher for the san francisco giants had a serious injury after colliding at home plate, ending his season and also the Giant's chance at offseason. The new rule was called the Posey Rule after that where the catcher have to open a basepath for the runner unless he needs to be there to make a catch. The manga chapter was written before it was established, so home plate collision was very common and runners often try to tackle the catcher instead of going after the homeplate.

Here's the incident which causes the home plate collision rule change.

That's in the pros. In the USA it's been illegal for high school players to charge a catcher like that for a LONG time. Maybe Japanese high school rules are different though. In the US he would have been ejected from the game.

Both are amazing, but I think the collision are more intense because Miyuki could get injured because of that (so the tension was much higher). The scene past pretty quickly during Sawamura's throw to the first base (well I think there's no need to make it over dramatic for throwing it to the base anyway) so I didn't feel as much as the collision but I still gotta emphasize though, Sawamura is amazing in this episode.

American baseball is more aggressive and individualistic though. I'm not sure there's an equivalent of the Posey Rule (or need for it?) ... it's a different baseball culture. (The Japanese play Japanese baseball.)

Saying that, I thought Miyuki was going to snap at him! He looks okay for now so Seiko gets off with a scolding... it definitely should've been a penalty. :/

That collision... that's why I hate retards. Can never anticipate when they'll be violent.

His character doesn't make any sense either. A fat guy that isn't serious at all about training, is somehow a very good pitcher (why not), agile and fast (woot?) and super endurent (pitching 7 innings and not breaking a sweat)... I call bullshit.

All that to instaure drama about the final.

My take on the future is that :
* lose / win finals, can't say which because both are plausible ; first choice is logic, second choice is shounen logic.
* Kataoka will leave the team
* The team will have a very harsh winter season
* After Spring, Kataoka will be like "Daddy's home!" and they'll win Summer with the new talented first years that'll arrive (Tetsu's brother and the two brats who came scouting earlier)

I was like "stfu fatty" by the end of the episode and glad the episode agreed with me.. kinda. Nobody gives a shit about your weak ass resolution of "baseball wasn't fun until I fought the protagonist". They really made this fatass as nimble as Sawamura, jeez the suspension of disbelief that I needed to have to get through this match is unreal. Hopefully Seido doesn't lose to plot.

The catcher is allowed to block the plate if he has the ball. I looked this up several months ago after I saw the episode. According to the baseball rules I read, it's illegal only when the catcher doesn't have the ball and is obstructing the runner from reaching home plate. Do you think the episode would be written as it is if Miyuki was doing something against the rules? I don't think so. Tsune should have been ejected for violence, but, obviously, he was left in the game so Miyuki could hit that walk-off homerun, win the game, and rub Tsune's nose in it. Well-deserved, Tsune, idiot.

Miyuki knows the rules. He's not going to do something illegal. 2. Tsune should have been sliding in to home base. He deliberately collided with Miyuki, intending to knock him out of the way and more.. 3. Miyuki had no time to clear out of Tsune's way - and anyway, what is being suggested here? that he was supposed to jump out of the way so Tsune could score? No way.
The other thing that proves what I said is that as soon as Tsune tackled Miyuki, his face said, "screw you, catcher. That's what you get." Then, when he saw that Miyuki had the ball, it shocked the hell out of him like, "Oh shit! I didn't know he had the ball!" That doesn't mean it would have been okay to be violent if Miyuki hadn't had the ball. That was just a violent player doing whatever he wanted. He was totally wrong. Nothing justifies what he did.
As I said, The catcher is allowed to block the plate if he has the ball. It's the same rule in Japan as in the USA.
If you can prove me wrong on this, I'll graciously accept, but I don't think I am.
