that was quite the finale. It seems some conspiracy dealings were taking place. all the right people got killed and some sacrifices were made. in the end it was a good show. not great...but not bad either.

I actually liked the ending, a little bittersweet, but good. I just hope that Mamiko Noto got to live happily ever after.

I honestly think they couldn't have ended such a short series any better. Normally I find the endings to short series to be lacking.

An excellent series and one I think is under-rated. If there had been more episodes I would have happily watched them as well.

The reporter's final moments were touching. For a crusty old bastard with hardly any soul he really put himself out there for 'his' show. It was almost an allude to those mythical olden day (radio, paper) reporters from before television. The ones that didn't have to look like movie stars so long as they had a good nose for facts and integrity. The ones that were willing to sacrifice their jobs so long as the truth reached the public.

Individuals like that are the reason reporters have special protections and privileges. It's too bad mythical reporters like that don't really exist. If they did democracy would actually have a chance at success.

The bully lost to an even bigger bully and the whole crew were ultimately pawns in some other organisations chess board.

Bittersweer ending is a huge plus here since I hate those rushed "happily ever after" ending.

What a good anime, I think it's so underrated. No stupid mecha, no shouting girls with red hair, when someone dies they actually die. Just a good sci-fi cartoon.
I'd love to see another season, too bad that wont happen :(

Pretty mediocre ending to a lackluster series.

It had its moments, but then dropped the ball completely when a follow up moment was needed.

+1 for an (un)original ploy to get people to read your review.
-2 for using such a simple and transparent ploy.

As to the actual show...I give it a thumbs up for doing it's own thing. It was much better than expected, and added bonus, the end credits song is really good.

So a relatively nice bow-tied ending. It does feel a little easy, and the Earth Federation sure sucks at media suppression, luckily for our heroes, they also didn't expect a super-reactor kamikaze.

Felt good to see the conniving lot at the Kingdom getting their due (brutally too), even managed to get some redemption and remorse for the producer despite all he's done. It does suck for all the poor sods who've been offed along the way (8 ships by the protagonists alone!).

Stung a little to see the ship go up in flames, and heartstrings were tugged with the ED song and everyone in the shuttle.

A solid and enjoyable, if underachieving series. I wonder what the source material was like.

i like the ending, the seemingly selfish tv director ended up being the sacrificed hero, did not expect the ship to get destroyed too

overall, a good show that i would recommend to sci-fi fans (the serious ones :))

So, some kids kill tens of thousands(?) of people for the flimsiest of reasons all the while being used as pawns by literally everybody and everyone in one way or another. It was sometimes hard to see the main characters as the good guys and some things happened way too perfectly or conveniently. However, this was still an interesting watch, with some incredible attention to detail. Definitely a plot driven story with a focus on strategy and machination, so despite the isolated environment there was a lack of any real interesting character moments or interactions. Above average for the television concept alone.

Those words bring back memories of the film Good Night, and Good Luck. The last episode is actually what made me decide to score the show a point higher than I would otherwise have - even the climactic "showdown" felt fairly believable while still feeling honest to its overall tone. The end-credits sequences were also surprisingly well-done in evoking that quietly bittersweet tone, as others have pointed out - the exact same song somehow felt that much more moving this time around.

These last three episodes were pretty good, and the most engaging the show's been.
Wrapped up very well.

Overall it's good show that attempts to maintain a certain sense of hard science fiction despite the atrocious uniforms lol
I'm surprised the captain lived , I was expecting him to get killed and replaced by Shinon very early on. At times I did find it dull though, and the characters don't really have enough personality to get attached to.

It's one of the few space war anime I can think of off the top of my head, maybe the only one, that pays attention to the context provided by international law and presents a reasonably sensible depiction of international law; eg. the Amateras is a pirate ship outside the protection of international law unless it is recognized by the community. And as it turns out, law and soft power (media) end up being the main determinants in this war rather than force, reflecting an optimism for liberal democratic international order.

I loved this nice and gritty vibe about this series, similar to Mugen no Revyius and Geneshaft. They really don't make anime like that anymore....

I wonder if this anime adapted the whole novel series or if there is something left.

About the other things I liked besides strategy-reliant battles was probably the human relationship and shipping aspect - it was minor but still there, just enough not to take away from the main plot. Kinda hoped Takai would end up with the spanky girl he saved early in the series instead of the no personality girl with a crush on him, but whatever.

I have no real complaints. I wish real life was as simple as this.
For their own interests, the media is willing to help cadets who consider themselves a government in exile.
Truth is harsher than fiction however, as the big media conglomerates all over the world are controlled by the same people and will not let threats to their reign be broadcasted live damaging their thousands of years of supremacy upon the cattle.
