Anayama Katsushi (started from Feb 2023) has stepped down from his role.

Junya Fukuda (who was the editor of JJK) will replace him as the 15th editor for One Piece.

Does editors even matter when it comes to oda?
He has already said that he doesn't like someone else's idea and the editor will be in a inferior position to him.

editors have recently done a good job at keeping oda unchecked stuff like the warlords and the supernovas were created on a whim by oda and have drastically increased the length of one piece

The editor is way above the author. If the editor rejects an idea the author has to redo it

In normal cases yes.
But do you really believe that one Piece which is going for 28 years, if author disagrees with editor. Then editor can make changes?

Eiichiro oda is way more influential than some editor who changes every few years, I know how normally things work, but one Piece is different.

I don't know where to look up. If it has happened in earlier years then it's certainly possible but I doubt it happens now with oda.

I have also read in SBS, he specifically said he doesn't like anyone else's idea even editor's.

He is writing One Piece for more than 28 years, editors change every few years.

the warlords and the supernovas were created because oda wanted to and weren't originally planned and it drastically increased the length of one piece

but editors can change something for example backstory of senor pink was in manga because editor wanted it there but oda himself didnt want it there

Editors stopped to matter with Oda a long time ago, not because their role are inferior to him, but because he himself became an author so famous, so important to Shueisha itself that he can really do whatever he wants without even listening to what the editors says.

yea and now the editors aren't necessarily saying oda can't do something but it's more like keeping him in check and not adding a plot line that will drastically increase the length

Yep, that's very necessary. I already can't see it ending even in next 5 years, who knows what will happen if he started adding even more plot lines.

I mean the ending is definitely in sight this is the final saga with at Most 2 more arcs left but if I had to guess 10 years tops

Laughtale Island Arc, war Arc and post war Arc, atleast 3 arcs.

Blackbeard's backstory, Shanks and dragon too. More mythology about sun god as well as ancient kingdom and joyboy. What's one Piece, what is Luffy's dream? Imu's identity.

There is just too many stories left to tell. I probably may have missed many to mention too.

I thought the Supernova's were created because Oda's editor thought the Sabody arc felt a bit empty & suggested adding more characters to make it more interesting.

@Elti979 Other than the warlords and supernovas, what else was changed?
