| @Piromysl as far as I know it was Naoko Yamada (one of anime directors) who added most of the yuribaiting, author herself was not doing it, at least intially (Kumiko even dated her childhood friend for some time in the books, even if they broke up later). |

| @Nachtwandler_21 Naoko Yamada has a very specific style for depicting female friendship, to say the least. Although she directly denied that she had any intention of baiting anything. But yeah, LN is many times more straight, to the point where half of Reina's scenes in the anime are Shuichi's. @Mari_Marx It doesn't look like yuri at all, unless you consider a story about a meaningful friendship between two girls to be yuri by default. |

Girls are always touchy feely in every anime so unless anime is explicit about it being yuri it is just normal girl interactions.
| @mariox7777 Also, do not forget that in addition to ignoring this fact, a lot of people, in principle, read any friendship in anime, both female and male, as slash ships bait. So every time an anime has a friendship moment, they are sure that the anime is going to be yuri or BL. |
