Freest 10/10 of my life. Absolutely phenomenal ending and phenomenal series. Really tragic how the Okabe who went through so much will never be able to be the Okabe who sees Steins Gate after all of his suffering and effort. Thematically fitting that he kept his promise to Mayuri. Absolutely loved this series. May end up doing a fuller write-up in the future but I think this stands on par with the original series and in many ways surpasses it. There's still a lot about the original series I did like more but I can't deny this was ab absolutely incredible experience.

All time classic, the pacing at the start can throw people off but sticking with the show is insanely rewarding. No bs ending, no drawn out ending and just an overall great show.

Well that connected and weaved together quite nicely. I like how the professor girl in the other motorcycle outfit had like one nice interaction and then just died over and over without anymore to it lol

I personally think you will enjoy this anime a lot more if you decide to read the VN first. Especially since the writing for the anime goes off track from the VN, and does certain events different, and also removes certain events altogether. Let's just say its a fan fiction version of the actual story.

I do like the narrative of the anime, but you should experience both sides before you can say you completed steins;gate 0

Nope, the anime is actually the continuation of the VN, showing the last iteration of the hundreds of iterations comprising the story of 0. It's not fanfiction, it's canon and a full closure on 0's story

That being said, yes, it should be experienced after the VN

@SciADV_Maniac Continuation? I do agree that it is canon and a full closure on 0's story, maybe fanfiction was a bad example, I meant more along the lines of reimagined.

Also respect for your pfp, Takuru underrated sci adv protagonist.

And this is where the story of Kyouma Hououin ends, or rather starts. This was a pretty good conclusion it was satisfying seeing the proffesor mad when the time machine. This series got good at the end and tbh i kinda expected more but like i said before it is a pretty good conclusion but it will never be on the same level as the original

Awesome episode and anime. Man, I can't believe all of these shenanigans kinda happened "behind the scenes" of episode 23 of the original series.

I am... confused and conflicted to say the least. Original S;G is probably my all-time favorite out of all shows I've watched. This... yeah, feels a bit unnecessary, but I don't have a problem with it, as someone who watched and quite enjoyed the movie and OVAs.
It's just, the story is all over the place (I haven't read the novel), a lot of plot points are mentioned and never brought up again.

Some of the events are straight up missing- like bruh, what happened between these events?!

Their friend who also seen "alternate timeline" in a dream- what was the point in having her?

Reyes was the one attacking Okabe and friends, but it was never mentioned before she died.

Who the hell is Kagari?! She's Kurisu's clone or a daughter? Never explained.

Okabe can jump further in time but he never tries to ask Suzuha and Mayuri to time travel EARLIER, he just waits for Day X to come.

In future Reskinen caught him and tortured but it was never showed how he managed to travel back in time. Did he, like, outrun them??

Uh... am I dumb?! Are SOME of these things even make sense? I mean sure, I'll read the VN, do some digging (Reddit, as well reading comments here), but maybe the show itself should have made better job in explaining events. The art was all over the place, and I don't expect Jujutsu Kaisen visuals here, but the job was either extremely rushed or half-assed. Great music and voice acting tho.

I really really love S;G and there were some amazing moments but I feel like the show piqued in episode 8, then took a giant nose dive, episode 18 when I kinda lost all the interest, and the remaining episodes tried to win me over. Almost succeed, seeing Okabe back to his chuunibyou persona almost brought tears to my eyes...

Wish it was 11/10 like the first season, but for me closer to 7.5-8/10. And I am being a bit generous. A bit scared for the upcoming Steins;God / Steins; ??? if S;G 0 was this weak and convoluted...

@TheMangaManiac

Something is good to know before delving into 0 that this anime isn't a straight adaptation of the VN. It's a sequel to it. It is kinda expected that one already knows the VN while watching the anime.

The whole point of 0 is that it needs hundreds of iterations and the work of hundreds of different Okabes from the iterations to create the plan to save Kurisu. You can observe 5 iterations in the VN, and you can observe the final one with the anime.

TheMangaManiac said:

That has a little more relevance in the VN. She has reading steiner, and that helps Leskinen discovering that Okabe has too

TheMangaManiac said:

None. Both assumption is baseless anyway, they don't need to explain anything. She is a girl Mayuri adopted

The disappearance of the time machine is convergence, he discovered that

It was literally shown in episode 21... His friends helped him escaping, jamming the radar of the soldiers so they couldn't catch him. Reached the time leap machine, and leaped...

Steins;Gate 0 was a side entry in the Science Adventure series, with lesser budget than the mainlines (Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, Occultic;Nine, Anonymous;Code). Steins;??? will be a main entry, so you don't have to worry about it. You should rather worry that it very likely will include elements from the rest of the entries, so you might want to read them to get familiar ;)

Really having to grasp just how much pain had to be poured into making the "best" timeline possible was already enough to make this ending cathartic but damn, dude. The post credits scene gave me chills unlike anything else. The silhouette of a lab coat has always been cool but Okabe, or rather Kyouma, finally looked as badass as he always thought he was.

It's impossible to ignore stuff like the jankiness of most of the action scenes and a couple of loose ends that never got proper resolutions (like Reyes' whole deal and where Kagari truly came from) but for a sequel made with the intention to put more context into the original's ending, this was amazing.

Idk man, a lotsa things, if there wasn't any Kagari line that they invented only here, if there wasn't any filler shitty episodes, i mean, ofc people will put 7,8,9,10/10 just because a few eps were good despite other 16+ mid-shitty eps. Just because they didn't flip the PLOT upside down, inside out, they added a reference that explains that in 23 ep in orig S;G or in 23 ep in World-line Alpha the Okarin who was 33 y.o it was Okarin from World-line Beta, so holy shit, it's cool tho, i liked it. But those little things, little fuk-ups that made a bad impression nah.

Btw how long were Suzuha and Mayuri waiting for Okarin, they didn't have food or anything else and where tf are they? In earth alr but what's the year?

OG S;G > This (slight, just a bit diff)

P.S It could've been taken really seriously if they didn't fuck up by stupid humour(in some scenes), ABSURD UNREALISTIC fighting scenes that i can't even justify by saying "oh this is anime it is cool for that", really useless plot paths such with Kagari or Amadeus, i mean, they weren't that useless but they COULD HAVE DONE way better, so it might make sense and be more cool to watch, for me it was just bait for old fans OR something to fill the gap(i guess this is why we had 1-5, ~11-17, 22 episodes).

B.C. 18000, it was written there. Also they didn't have to wait so long, since Okabe was able to locate them in the worldline with the Kerr Black Hole tracer

On the screen? Right after the credits, the first thing you see on the screen is "B.C. 18000"

The Kerr Black Hole tracer is literally what it is called 😂 a device that traces Kerr Black Holes 🤓

Steins;Gate's time travel devices (the PhoneWave and the time machines) are generating Kerr Black Holes to make time travel possible. The Kerr Black Hole tracer can trace these along the worldline

@FlameyWT

I read the source material, the visual novel of Steins;Gate multiple times (both the original and 0), which is much more detailed than the anime adaptation.

And I have also read every single English translated visual novel in the Science Adventure series (the bigger universe in which Steins;Gate is just merely the "Part 2"), which consists of Chaos;Head Noah, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, Occultic;Nine, Anonymous;Code - and their additional materials.

So I'm just a dedicated fan who is quite familiar with this franchise. So you can ask me anything basically

(SPOILER FREE!)
Amazing show the first season went happily go after THIS one is the "ok so what if?" and well that was a ride but first
MAHO IS THE BEST GIRL okkk yeah this one was needed seriously underrated well watch the series to understand my statement.
Now SG0 starts straight to the point which was great no offense its good to see a sequel doing what a sequel should "carry where we left off" well not every time but in SG0 yes
I like how it feels like the POV of every character despite you seeing the world through okabe's which shows yeah stuff happened and now this is the outcome we are gonna live with
story slowly deepens unlike sudden bump in 1st season ep16 iirc but each episode of SG0 is a ride.
One more thing if you are planning to watch zero you can skip the OVA but to be honest still watch them they are worth it
