Well, it's not surprising, but they took their time to officially announce this, didn't they?

Anyways, I'm curious to see how long into the story can we reach in these 12 episodes, and if the anime is going to end with some kind of cliffhanger, because I'm not seeing this getting a 2nd season anytime soon.

I just noticed that MAL finally cleared things up and put the series as a one cour (12 episodes) anime.

The opening has Kirishima hugging Yoshino after THAT incident with Azami, which happens in volume 7, so I would say it would cover chapter 31 and maybe half or the entirety of chapter 32? Episode 6 adapted the manga up to chapter 15, if they go to that same pace it would cover until chapter 30 but the opening clearly covers chapter 31 as well.

@SenshadouOtaku

No, until a few hours ago, this anime's number of episodes was listed as "?".

I don’t epect certian scenes on the OP to appear in the anime. They happen in the most recent volumes and I think they were animated as a bid to get people reading the manga. They might also be there because these two don’t share too many couply moments together and they got a little desperate trying to market it as a romance for the OP 😅
In the manga currently

Oh, that seems a lot! How many chapters does the manga currently have?

@PokefanPT

38 chapters but the manga has been on hiatus since march this year.

Btw, I don't think the scene in the opening is just a tease to manga readers, I think episode 12 will adapt chapters 30 and 31.

Ohhh, then we're getting almost a full adaptation. With the manga being on hiatus, the 2nd season certainly isn't coming, at least anytime soon.
Really excited to see why manga readers are so excited for episodes to come!

Episodes 8 to 12 are gonna be straight fire, mostly because of a character that is even more unhinged than Kirishima (if you can believe that). When that character appears on screen, the stakes get really high.

Wow, more unhinged than Kirishima, that almost doesn't sound possible. I'm really excited then, because I've been liking the anime so far, and it just needs this extra for it to be more impactful! I always felt like the anime has a lot of potential! I hope I can see the score of the anime go up too when that arc starts!

@samspot8r8s

I think they will adapt up to and including chapter 31 with the whole Azami incident but they will cut chapter 27, Yoshino's mom, Hitomi's chapter. I think they will also cut chapter 28, Kirishima's great aunt, Sumire's chapter.

I think chapters 15 to 21 aka the continuation of the Osaka arc will be episodes 7 to 9 (the Osaka arc began in episode 6, so the whole arc would be episodes 6 to 9). Episode 10 would adapt chapters 22 to 24 aka the Kirishima-Shouma confrontation. Episode 11 would adapt chapters 25 and 26. And episode 12 would adapt chapters 29 to 31 and maybe (?) half of 32.

If they'll make a second season in the future and the manga ends its hiatus (fingers crossed) maybe chapters 27 and 28 will be adapted in the second season.

Hmm, okay, I can see it happening if they cut those parts out!
But I still have a few reservations because the end of the Osaka arc seems like a logical ending point for their relationship. On the other hand, the point where the manga stops (or a little earlier at ch31/32) would feel too open-ended, in my opinion, for a satisfying ending.
Time will tell, I guess.

@samspot8r8s

The second trailer shows glimpses of chapters 22 to 24 (like Yoshino with the bat, Kirishima vs Shouma) as well as chapters 25 and 26 (the hand holding scene and Yoshino in the white dress being lifted up by Kirishima). Also the shirtless Kirishima and Shouma poses in the opening are from chapters 22 to 24.

Since the Osaka arc ends with chapter 21 the scenes in the trailer show glimpses from chapters 22 to 26, at least those parts are going to be animated. Hopefully chapters 29 to 31 are going to be adapted as well, since glimpses from those chapters are shown in the opening.

Also since the first season will be too open-ended, too suspenseful maybe they'll do a second season, especially if the manga ends its hiatus?
