This is coming from the perspective of someone who enjoyed this season. I really think that this anime would have been popular in America if it had been released when cable television and a ton of filler were common. One of the biggest criticisms I see with this anime is the amount of filler. I do believe that the filler in this season was astronomical, but I also believe that popular shows like Naruto and Bleach have a similar rate of filler episodes. Do you guys agree, or do you think that this anime had other issues that effected its popularity?

There wasn’t any filler in this, all of it was in the manga. The series just started out more episodic, building up the relationships and dynamics between the siblings before diving into the main plot.

I feel like you’re a bit off here brother, in the span of 27 episodes, the series kind of sped through what felt like a lot of serious, arching story content, doesn’t really feel anything like the shows you mentioned when it comes to filler.

If anything, I would take more of the lighthearted stuff, which I thought the series really tried to quickly push through.

That said, I can sort of get what you might have intended, since the show does have an old school vibe of sorts.

But do you really need to ask why it wasn’t popular? Don’t get me wrong, I liked the show, but it doesn’t really have anything that makes anime popular these days, from high production values and a lot of edge, gore and that kind of action, to incredible waifu design or what not, that’s not really what this show is about, so I don’t think it’s really that surprising that it isn’t popular.

What really was holding it back was having to rely on disney doing something they've never done and actually advertise the anime they have the streaming rights to like at all
