What is this show about?

I picked it up on a whim. The guy seems to be an amateur detective type of character. And he has a female friend. The syopsis here mentions it about being him wanting to be normal or something. Though what exactly is this show about? Only one episode exists but the source material semes to have bene going. Is it a romance between the characters? Or is it focused on the guy's deduction skills? What is it about?

As someone who's read up to volume 4 of the novels, I'd describe it as a psychological/slice of life hybrid with strong mystery and romance elements as well. Around the halfway point of the first cour, there should be a big reveal, that'll help clarify for you what it's all about.

Two episodes in, feels like this series is focusing on people who are so bored that to entertain themselves they solve mundane things that average joes wouldn't give much thought.
